Chapter 55 - Become My Friend

Chapter 55 - Become My Friend

“Do you want to become friends with me?”

“What???” Red Bull along with his entourage felt insulted when they heard this. “Is this kid serious? Does he think he has what it takes to become friends with our fierce leader? I’ve known Red Bull for so long and we’re still not friends.”

“He must be letting that chanced victory get to his head and now he thinks he’s hot shit.”

“We should discipline this bastard; teach him to respect those who are stronger than him.”

“Wait.” Red Bull supporters were just about to attack Dam Son but he stopped them with a raised hand then gave focus back to the object of his humiliation. “Listen here brat, I didn’t come here to be your friend.”

Like a clueless dummy, Dam Son asked, “Then why did you come here?”

“I came to have a rematch. That last battle was a fluke. I don’t agree with the despicable way you defeated me. I came here today to obliterate the humiliation from my eyes.”

“Oh, so that’s it.” Dam Son seemed a bit upset that Red Bull didn’t want to be his friend. He placed a hand on Red Bull’s shoulder and said, “I would love to spar with you again, but right now I need to get to class. You understand right?”

Turning to leave, Dam Son felt an oppressive grip around his arm. “When did I say that you can leave?” Red Bull was getting ready to start trouble. “I want my rematch right here and now!”

“But I have to get to class.” Dam Son insisted on leaving.

“I don’t give a rat’s ass about your stupid lessons. Fight me!”

“Yeah, fight!” Red Bull’s supporters began blocking Dam Son’s escape route. Minutes later, the hallway became crowded with inquisitive students.

“What’s going on over there?”

“I think they might actually start a fight.”

“Is that Red Bull I see over there? Who is he seeking trouble with this time?”

“I heard he got beat up really bad yesterday at the Page Coliseum. He must be here to seek vengeance on the kid who defeated him.”

“Why does he always have to be such a sore loser?”

“I don’t know. I guess it runs in his blood.”

As the hall became more packed with eager students who wanted to see the imminent fight between Dam Son versus Red Bull, some members of staff were also alerted. “Hey, kids what’s going on over there? Break it up and go to class right now!”

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

“Oh, shoot! It’s teacher, Enjoy. We better get going.” Very quickly, the colony of students began separating like disturbed ants, leaving only Dam Son and Red Bull present.

Giving Dam Son the bad finger, Red Bull said, “Count yourself lucky brat.” He transformed into a twisting sheet of paper and vanished.

“Wow. That page teleport technique is really awesome. I wonder if I’ll ever be able to reach that level.”

“With a little bit of practise and hard work, anything is possible newborn.” Papyrus encouraged its master.

“Mr Son, were you involved in that commotion earlier?” Ms Enjoy came along and questioned Dam Son. “Follow me, I wish to speak with you in private.”

“Okay, Ms Enjoy.” As he followed along, Dam Son thought that he was in big trouble. “I hope I didn’t do anything to upset teacher.”

“Nonsense, how could she possibly find a fault with you? If anything, it is that blindfolded brat to blame.” Papyrus assured Dam Son that everything would be fine, so he could stop thinking about getting expelled.

“Go inside.” Ms Enjoy directed Dam Son into her private office adjacent to her classroom. Looking at Dam Son sternly, she said, “Don’t think for a minute that I don’t know what happened yesterday. You cut classes to visit the Page Coliseum.”

“Yes, that’s right. I desperately needed the Q-currency.” Dam Son didn’t tell any lies.

“Very straight forward I see.” Ms Enjoy liked Dam Son’s truthfulness. She went ahead to say, “I saw the clip of your battle yesterday against that troublemaker, Red Bull. You did well out there.”

“Thanks, I guess.” Said Dam Son scratching the back of his head embarrassingly.

“I wasn’t trying to earn your gratitude.” Ms Enjoy admitted then got straight to the point at hand. “What I want to know is who taught you about Natural Verb Force. That is an almost extinct technique that only a few Word Fu Masters can pull off.”

Dam Son looked surprised to hear this. “Ms Enjoy, you know about Natural Verb Force as well?”

“Of course I do. It might be a forgotten art but don’t forget that my main mastery is being a Wordsmith. It is my duty to study and acquaint myself with ancient knowledge. Nowadays not many people residing in Vocabular know of its existence, which brings me back to the main question, how did you learn about it, Mr Son?”

Dam Son came right out with the truth. “There’s this really old man residing on a very tall mountain north of here. He’s an excessive drinker but his Word Fu is really great. He’s the one who introduced me to Natural Verb Force. I’m still in the early stages of training so I’m not really that good at using it.”

Pondering what Dam Son told her, Ms Enjoy asked, “This old drunkard you speak of, could you be talking about Jin Hennessy?”

“Yeah, that’s him.”

“I see. I suspected it might be him.”

“Teacher, do you know him?”

“I do. He used to be a teacher here at Raixom Academy but something happened with a former student of his and he was forced to resign. Though he was fired from the job, he refused to leave the academy, thus he was granted a permanent residence by the principal. Look here Mr Son, that man is a very bad influence. For your own sake, you should stay away from him. This is my first and final warning. I’ll see you in class.” Finished speaking, Ms Enjoy exited her office and directed her feet to her classroom.

“What was that about?” Dam Son followed in his teacher’s footsteps still thinking about what she said about Jin Hennessy being a bad influence.

“I knew that geezer was no good. The stench of his breath alone gave him away.” Papyrus tried to convince its master that Jin Hennessy was a villain, however, Dam Son refused to believe that.

“He’s not a bad guy, I know it.”
