Chapter 64 - Subduing The Monstrously Failed Experiment

The fiery rock monster that was wreaking havoc on the central marketplace became more vicious in its onslaught. Aside from spitting molten rocks everywhere, it fed on the earth’s surface by combining with the rocky properties to increase its size. Now it was towering over 50 metres long.

“Rock Fan, stop it! You’re destroying my place of study!” A concerned stubby boy sporting 4 sets of monocles on his face came rushing towards the fiery rock monster with a particular device in his hand that hosted a portable Arcane Bath. He constantly tapped the moist interface, trying to get his invention to respond.

“No! No! No! It’s not responding. The link must have gotten cut off somehow.” The boy looked worried. “What should I do? If the campus guards get here before I can stop Rock Fan’s malfunctioning behaviour then they will destroy its core. I can’t allow that to happen.” The boy couldn’t wait for his invention to be obliterated. He decided to take matters into his own hands to curtail the destructiveness of his failed experiment.

“Kid watch out!” Dam Son appeared just in time to rescue the boy from getting crushed under a fallen rock. The monster didn’t even recognize its own creator, this brought great pain to the inventor’s mind.

The boy said to Dam Son after he got him to a safe distance, “Thanks for saving me.”

“Your gratitude is unwarranted. Anyway, why were you rushing towards that thing? By what I’ve seen you don’t seem to have any malice towards it despite the destruction it has caused.”

“The thing is…” He took a while to answer Dam Son’s enquiry. “That thing is called Rock Fan. It is my invention.”

“You created that thing?” Dam Son was appalled. “But why create it to be so malicious?”

“That wasn’t my intention.” The boy rebutted angrily. “Something went wrong during the last stage of its development and it turned out this way. I’m sorry about the people who got hurt but I want to save my invention’s core before the campus guards get a hold of it. You look like a strong Dark-Human, will you help me please?”

“My name is Dam Son, what about you?”

“Vor Eyes.” The boy responded. “So will you help me, Dam Son?”

“It seems like there’s no other choice. Fine, I’ll help you put a stop to that monster’s tyranny.”

“Great!” Vor Eyes felt happy to hear this. “I know where its weak points are. I’ll show you on my booklet.” Vor Eyes showed Dam Son the liquid interface of his booklet which portrayed a detailed depiction of the fiery rock monster’s weak points.

“You two!” At the same time, Cinder Burn came along to assess the situation. Dam Son told her everything. “I see. So all we have to do is subdue that ugly lava monster and rip out its core before the campus guards show up.”

“Basically, yes.” Answered Vor Eyes.

“Then what are we waiting for? Time is running short, I’m going ahead.” Cinder Burn impatiently went ahead.

“Wait a minute, take this.” Vor Eyes prevented Dam Son from rushing off impatiently so he could print a copy of the monster’s weakness from his magical booklet and handed it to Dam Son.

“This will be useful.” Dam Son took the page from Vor Eyes and gave it to his Guide to assimilate with. “Papyrus, keep this sheet at the forefront. Remind me of the creature’s weakness when I get in position.”

“As you wish newborn.” Papyrus did as its master told it to do. Together, it and Dam Son rushed flagrantly into battle.

“Hey, what’s going on?” Shortly after Dam Son left, Balloona and Xuan Li showed up beside Vor Eyes. After he explained the situation to them, moreover, gave them a copy of the fiery rock monster’s weakness, they went onwards into combat. Hence the battle between Word Masters and the malfunctioning monster commenced.

Sugar Bun and Trish sat far away from the action watching as everything unfolded. The first affiliate they saw to engage the monster in combat was Cinder Burn followed by Dam Son, Xuan Li and Balloona. “Look at them going at it. I’m sure that they will get into trouble for that.”

Dam Son didn’t care about the circumstances that would come later, right now he was focused on helping out a fellow student subdue his failed experiment. “Cinder Burn, here! You forgot this!” Skilfully evading a diagonal assault from the fiery rock monster, Dam Son tossed Cinder Burn a copy of its weaknesses. “Vor Eyes said hitting this point would be more effective.”

“I got it. Don’t tell me how to operate.” Cinder Burn took a glance at the sheet of paper Dam Son handed her before tossing it away. She didn’t bother inserting it into her Guide because of her impeccable memory. “I’ll chop away the huge clump of rock that’s blocking its chest. Balloona, use your water to cool down its heat. When the core becomes visible, Dam Son and his lackey will rip it out. If we want to subdue this monster before the campus guards arrive we only have one chance so don’t mess it up.”

“I won’t.” Balloona agreed with Cinder Burn’s plan.

“Me neither.” Dam Son also agreed.

“Who are you calling a lackey?” Xuan Li was peeved at Cinder Burn for suggesting that he was Dam Son’s servant. “When this is all over with, I’ll give you a piece of my mind.”

“Enough chit-chat! The campus guards will be here any minute. It’s time for us to act.” Saying this, Cinder Burn rushed the monster head-on. She evaded a few of its monstrous assaults while chipping away at parts of its molten limbs while waiting for Balloona to act.

“I got your back girl.” Balloona activated 3 Bubble Rush Scripts which brought into existence myriads of bubbly wetness that swarmed the fiery rock monster from all angles.

“I’m going in!” Now that the heat of the monster had been mitigated, Cinder Burn went directly for its chest area. “I can see the core! Damn it’s hot!” Cinder Burn had to quickly surround herself in viridian Nounal Force while she retreated to safety. “Dam Son you’re up!”

“Just leave it to me!”

“You mean us!” Xuan Li dashed ahead of Dam Son on his way to the monster’s exposed core by using Balloona’s un-popped bubbles that were still tousled about as footholds.

“That core is mine!” Xuan Li made use of Balloona’s bubble to aid with the execution of his attack. As his leg soared downwards at the creature’s exposed core, a twirling body of water swerved around his feet. “Guiding Water Stance, 2nd Form, Tsunami Drop Kick!”

An explosive collision occurred midway that blasted Xuan Li afar. This happened due to the surprise exhaust of heat that the monster released before impact.

“Xuan Li!” Dam Son was about to turn back to go rescue his companion, but he quickly abandoned the thought after seeing Xuan Li safely landing on one of Balloona’s bubbles. “Whew, that was close. Now then…” Dam Son directed his sight back to the monster’s core.

“You got to hurry before it closes!” Vor Eyes warned.

“I’m on it.” As he approached the monster’s core, Dam Son coated his legs in subtle Natural Verb Force. Due to Jin Hennessy’s training, he learned how to conserve and not put too much strain on his internal Letter Force.

“Smashing Blue Mantis!” Dam Son executed a deadly tornado kick in mid-air which cut apart the monster in half. His attack was so deadly that it even smashed the creature’s core to bits.

“Huh?” Seeing this, reassured Cinder Burn that her easy win against Dam Son during their rematch in the garden earlier that night was a fluke. “If he had gone all out, he would have at least left a noticeable injury on me.”

“He’s so amazingly dreamy.” Looking above, Balloona enjoyed the object of her admiration. Which girl doesn’t like strong men, am I right?

“Somebody defeated that monster? Who was it?”

“I don’t care who destroyed it, but I’m glad. Now there aren’t any more falling lava rocks.”

While the surrounding individuals were happy about the destruction of the monster, among them was a stubby kid who was displeased. “No! You weren’t supposed to shatter the core!” Vor Eyes cursed at Dam Son for forgetting their arrangement.

“I’m so sorry. I was completely caught up in the moment. Can’t you like, make another one?”

“Make another one? Do you have any idea of the headaches and how long it took me just to create the one?”

“Judging by how you phrase it, I guess it might have taken you a long time.”

“Darn right it did!” Vor Eyes gave Dam Son a bitter piece of his mind.

Cinder Burn had to intervene by saying, “Hey, Four Eyes cool it. If it weren’t for us that monster would still be wreaking havoc as we speak. We tried to save your invention but we failed. The least you can do is thank us and suck up your losses.”

“Yeah, take a good look around you, short stuff.” Xuan Li gestured to the surrounding area that was engulfed in flames. “This was all your fault. How will you compensate those whose business you’ve destroyed?”

“I ah, I can’t.” Feeling depressed, Vor Eyes started to reflect on the harm his failed invention had caused people. “I’m so sorry everyone.”

Seconds later, an intimidating squadron of campus guards arrived on the scene. “What happened here? We got a disturbing report that stated that a wild monster was on the loose.”

“Sir, this is all my fault.” Vor Eyes stepped forward to take responsibility for his action.

“You there come with us.” The leader of the squadron pointed not only at Vor Eyes but at Xuan Li, Dam Son, Cinder Burn and Balloona as well.

“Wait just a sec.” Xuan Li felt discontent. “Why are we getting dragged into this mess when we were the ones who put a stop to his crazy invention?”

“Don’t talk back to me brat. I will be the one asking the questions here. Now shut the hell up and follow along.” The authorities escorted them to Raixom Academy’s Campus Station.

“I knew this would happen.” Watching his friends being whisked away by enforcers, Sugar Bun couldn’t help but feel sorry for being right most of the time.

“Should we follow them?” Trish voiced her suggestion.

Sugar Bun replied, “We should, but not too close, otherwise, we might get dragged into their squabble.”

“Alright, let’s follow them from a safe distance.”
