Alexander didn't even bother memorizing the rest of the unknown people and just had his mind assign them as Random Guy, then they'll be Voice Actor #Something at some.
That lackadaisical disregard aside, his attention was much more on the blank space on Goku's name and something that Seasoned Hayao had just professed.
Son Goku:____
Son Goku:???
Son Goku: [Alexander Creed]
From progressive blankness to question marks until that familiar name, it was an imagined sight that Alexander didn't expect nor something that he wanted.
He had just broken down voice actors as strategic people to be used and controlled to his advantage, how could he have become a voice actor himself?
He had put a little boss perspective on it and everything, yet he had suddenly become part of the employee group that would work for him.
Alexander had other plans for himself... being a voice actor was not one of them.
Super-rich, tech-savvy, businessman, producer, writer, and comic book artist was among his newfound goals for his re-life. He had considered some things here and there to explore but not voice acting at all.
It's not that he disparaged or looked down on it... albeit he does at some parts. It's just that Alexander never really saw himself doing a job that need to be expressive.
As much as most of Goku's voicing role was just simple reading, it was not something that he wanted to do.
For an introverted and cold-faced person whose face value was being indifferent and expressionless, acting or voice acting in this case was something not easy to stomach.
This was clearly an extrovert's job to express and showcase their flamboyant selves. Alexander was now regretting the part about delegating the casting process.
This meant that a breach of his control could be made and the current Goku voice actor mishap happened.
Surely, there was still a way to correct things since the cast list is still empty. Since the decision is still not finalized in print, there was still a chance to find another name to put on it.
Son Goku: [Alexander Creed] => Son Goku: Random Guy
This was the progressive sight that Alexander wanted to see.
However, there was still the catch that the true mastermind of his Goku role would veto his attempts entirely. Without doubt, the best option to go for is to change the masterminding decision maker's decision entirely.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
With the reluctant confirmation from Seasoned Hayao himself, it can be seen that this was a surprise that could only be traced to only one culprit.
Although Seasoned Hayao was the master teacher of operations for the entire Creed Animations, he was still set to leave by June for the Ghibli opening and there were still Creed masters above him.
With him representing the one-half of the Creed, the other half is obviously the one pulling the strings.
Of course, Alexander was quick to get a glimpse of the puppeteer behind the decision, and all points led to his old grandfather.
The very person who likes to mess with him.
-----
It just so happens that when Alexander wanted to confront his old grandfather about things, the old man might have already prepared a lot of things.
At the CREED eating area, Old Sullivan was having tea like any other British guy and was in some sort of leisurely zen mode.
If those weren't signs of a confrontational-ly prepared old man, then Alexander didn't know what the weirdness could mean?
Still, he still had to make his stand against whatever machinations that the old Creed had in mind. "Grandpa, why do you have to slot me in as Goku's voice actor? You should know that I don't like that sort of thing."
"How do you know you like things if you haven't tried?" Old Sullivan went with elderly advice and soul-catering chicken soup. "Alex, trying is better than denying."
"This grandpa of yours was a business-focused man at first and denied the thought of love." Old Sullivan had to incorporate stories for added effect. "Your grandma Tina challenged me to try dating her and look at what it has achieved. We had a loving marriage, had your handsome dad, and your dad had handsome you."
"Think of the scenario if I hadn't tried, everything would have turned out different than what we have now."
Alexander could only inwardly roll his eyes at that. If only his grandfather knew that everything was truly different from what it was supposed to be and he was the Chaos Butterfly that is shaking up things.
Of course, Old Sullivan was not done yet as his examplification had to incorporate pity stories to be more effective. "Think about it, Alex. This grandpa of yours is a trying man. I have tried many jobs when I got to America."
"Be it as it may, I was once like you. I denied a lot of things for many reasons." Old Sullivan's expression showed melancholy and sadness.
"I dismissed construction work yet I found that it is in that industry that I found the first inkling of salary that fed me and your little dad."
"I dismissed delivery men but it is those people and that job that got us through for the most part."
"I was scornful of Hollywood's glamour and frivolity yet it was at that industry that I found my second rise."
"Bottom line is, I denied and did not like a lot of things because I was snobby from being a previous rich man." Old Creed lessoned. "But... I tried and participated in many things. It gave me a new perspective on many things and gave me insights on many opportunities and experiences that I could grow from."
"This is the reason why I jumped into San Fernando Valley without much hesitation at all when Hollywood dynamics troubled me." Old Sullivan was practically re-telling his life endeavors with a theme that says 'trying new things is good'.
"It's a shame to admit but I am grateful to the San Fernando Valley adult industry. If I was close-minded as before, then Creed Entertainment and your projects wouldn't be what it is today." The Old Creed repeated his "wisdom" at the start with much solemnity. "Alex... trying is better than denying, so you should try being a voice actor to experience many things."
Alexander had to tsk-ed inwardly at all that showmanship. Perhaps this grandfather of his should really start the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series.
Although he wasn't fooled at all, he was still finding it hard to deny with how hard his elderly grandfather is trying to convince him.
Trying is better than denying, indeed! The old man even hid that in his goal.
Still, Alexander has his last resort. "Grandpa, I'm busy with other things? I simply have no time to be Goku and all that. Besides, I'm already trying a lot of things with toymaking, comic book making, animation production, and being a little boss of business. Isn't that enough?"
Old Sullivan's previously solemn expression suddenly turned crafty. "Hoho! I seem to remember someone telling me that he was "relatively less busy" during our last conversation. How come he became busy now?"
Alexander tsk-ed again. He still had his 'deny, deny, deny' tactic to employ but before he could, the crafty Old Creed used one of his major moves.
"Tsk! Tsk! I still remember a little boy of wee little age. He has already started writing about a mass-murdering alien but my old heart was completely crushed when he wrote something like Watchmen. How I failed as a guardian to have a young boy write many "adult" stuff?"
"Alright, alright. I'll do the voice acting thing." With the guilt trip strategy being used, Alexander knew that the old man was prepared for this meeting in advance and knew that weaseling out would not work.
Since he can't deny it now, then he'll just have to reluctantly try.
Many things confused him with these turn of events though. Like how he was usually the one influencing his grandfather, how come he was the one being led by the nose now?
Also, wasn't his old man usually indulging in things he does, how come he was adamant about having him take part in voice acting work?
"Haha! It's good that your listening to old me." Old Sullivan was happy to see the boy's agreement.
Unbeknownst to Alexander, the old Creed was inspired by Aleksei Kreid's comic book "acting". Since Alex and Aleksei are mirrors, then why couldn't he have his stone-faced grandson "act".
Anyways, his agenda to give the boy emotions has been given a great opportunity that would be stupid to pass out of.
