We both watched on from the distance as Sly got absolutely manhandled by Vulcan despite it holding back massively. The biggest problem Sly faced wasn't the rain but rather the mud that made it very hard to find traction. Vulcan had learned that lesson well and had specifically trained to overcome this issue by timing it's movements so as to stop when it wanted to. Sly made the mistake of charging full bore at Vulcan only for Vulcan to sidestep and casually back handed him as he passed by. Casual or not it was a enough to make Sly ragdoll and roll a few times after it yelped in pain.-

It wasn't even hard enough to bruise a hardy thing like a pokemon but it definitely stung. Birch quickly lost all enthusiasm as we watched Sly slowly but surely figure out what worked and what didn't all while Vulcan yawned in boredom. It was painfully obvious how out of his league Vulcan was compared to Sly as it hadn't been hit a single time while Sly was barely holding onto consciousness. "STOP!" I commanded and both pokemon froze in place before Sly promptly dropped into the mud unconscious.-

"A good pokemon indeed!" I said with a chuckle as Birch returned the exhausted mon to it's ball. Sly certainly wasn't very powerful but he had firm resolve to do what he needed to if nothing else which even I found impressive. Vulcan walked over to me casually and stood by until I had something else for it to do. That whole spar took three hours so we still had plenty of time left in the day. "I'd say that sly got some valuable experience from this spar , what about you?" I asked the professor who nodded.-

"Even I could see the improvement he had during this time and while I think your methods are a little harsh I can't complain since they clearly work." The man said with a sigh. I could understand what he meant as my training could be considered cruel to a minute degree as I push the pokemon to their limits each session. The thing was however that pokemon were built VERY differently to people and what was cruel for us was optimal for them. If anyone was to blame it was probably Mew or Arceus that made pokemon like this.-

I would never speak such ideas however since I know better than bad mouth very real and very present god like beings. Is it likely such a thing would give two shits about a weak insignificant human like me? Nope. Did that really matter in this case? ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY NOT! A god was a god and I value not testing such a things magnamity if I can avoid it. I was already an unnatural existence in this world with my system so painting a legendary sized target on my back by being stupid is unacceptable. "What do you have planned for the rest of the day?" Birch asked breaking me out of my thoughts.-

"Not sure really , with the weather being what it is hunting is a terrible idea since all that's out is water types or things that aren't worth hunting. I also can't just hole up for the rest of the day since we'd get bored. Honestly I have no clue at all what I can do besides maybe letting my pokemon spar full tilt but I'd rather avoid that since their spars are rather destructive to the land they are held on." I said at a loss.-

"I've seen a few gym battle recording so I doubt it can be THAT bad right?" birch asked with a confused expression. "A single full power attack from either of them leaves craters behind usually and a good spar between them has anywhere from five to fifteen such attacks unleashed. I'm pretty sure the only reason gyms aren't wrecked every time a battle happens is because they are reinforced to withstand such power." I said seriously. Birch paled as he imagined the pasture getting torn apart violently. "Yeah it's probably for the best we avoid that sort of damage." he said seriously.-

"Yep so I am a bit at a loss what to do." I said with a shrug. "I suppose you could explore the area around the village. The sea is only a few miles south and who knows you might even find something interesting in the process." Birch suggested. I thought about it for a moment but couldn't find anything wrong with the idea so I agreed. Birch wished me luck before heading into his lab to probably do some paperwork if I had to guess. I myself had Gaia and Vulcan follow me into the woods into a southward direction.-

Birch had said the sea was closest to the village this way and from what the pokenav map showed me it was listed as a tier 3 danger zone at the shore. The reason for this was actually given as the fact that as a coastal location it was possible for powerful deep water pokemon to be encountered there. I had to admit that despite how primitive the pokenav was it was much more durable than any cellphone I was familiar with as it was waterproof up to seventy meters bellow the surface. That meant the rain did a whole lot of nothing to the device.-

We spotted a few interesting things along the way that I stopped to collect and/or trade for tickets. These included chesto , aspear an wiki berry bushes that I traded four berries each from to the system for 2 ability tickets , a skill ticket and a single item ticket. Apparently the trading shop had a rule where the price to gamble increased slowly the more I used it so instead of the six chances I would have gotten for the berries I only got four. I was still quite happy with my luck though as I got two ability tickets and even a skill ticket.-

I tore the skill and item tickets immediately to see what I'd get since my luck was great today. For my skill I surprisingly enough got a combat skill in the form of spearmanship. It was not all that complex but was by no means simple as their was importance places on stance , grip , footwork an even the specifics of the spear itself. For the item on the other hand I got a scope lens that apparently made it easier to strike a vital point for a critical hit.-

I didn't use the ability tickets however since there was no telling what sort of scene I might cause getting whatever changes to myself those are done. Instead I wanted to wait until we got back to the village so that Gaia could cover the opening of the cave from prying eyes. It didn't take very long for us to reach the cliffs that dropped off into the sea. There were a few dozen Wingul and Pelipper in the area that gave my team and I wary looks but didn't turn hostile thankfully.
