Nathan lay wide awake and blankly staring at his room's pleasantly decorated ceiling for about nearly forty-five minutes. Is it not for the fact of his somewhat steady breathing, occasional blinking. With his dry red eyes and scrunched up face, one would think he was magically petrified or at worst had constipation.
Nathan currently was in a very complicated mood, even had a difficulty of identifying what exactly was troubling him. He wasn't indecisive per se yet here he was lying on his bed like a dying patient as if the world was collapsing. Despite his paranoia and fear about death he always had this impulsive side of him which made him decisive.
He never allowed himself to worry about this kind of unnecessary and unrelated thing when he was supposed to feel exhilarated about taking his big step into the wizarding world. It has to be said Nathan was truly looking forward to this day, for many years going to Hogwarts was every die hard fan's dream, Nathan was no exception to it.
To him the feeling of novelty only increased after waiting all these years as he learned more about this world and Nathan wouldn't be ashamed to admit he had dreamed about Hogwarts life and being a popular, genius Hogwarts student many times in the last seven years of his life here.
Like how someday he and his group of faceless friends would walk around the great lake laughing and jesting with each other. Leisurely enjoying his common room life and his occasional special visit to the good old Room Of Requirement in another dream.
Pranking the unsuspecting students and teachers he even had this exaggerated dream about swimming competition with the giant squid in black lake with funny arm wrestling sessions with its eight enormous arms.
Then rarely there were these slightly dangerous dreams like sneaking into forbidden forest making it his backyard a wide variety of colorful dreams. Some of the dreams he never would show any interest But at least he can tolerate them.
Weirdly enough this morning Nathan had another eccentric dream. No, no! He would have called it a horrible nightmare. It was one of the reasons why he was this vexed on such a good day. Though there is no nightmarish creature crawling after him or having him for dinner in that dream, he wouldn't hesitate to label it as an unwanted nightmare ' it just has to ruin my mood ' he grumbled.
Nathan at least wanted to sleep till six but because of this vivid dream he lay wide awake. He felt his stomach clench in uneasiness whenever he thought of its content Nathan couldn't shake off this damn dream as he lay back in the bed.
It seems Nathan grew out as a weird one, it's true wizards are fashioned as the weird bunches in this world because of their lifestyle and behavior, a classical definition of weirdos.
But he was weird in his own unique way. If a normal eleven years old kid or higher year Hogwarts student had the same dream it was highly doubtful whether they would be in such a horrible mood.
Knowing they were just hormonal teenagers they would have certainly excited and awed maybe even bragged about it to their friends because it was nothing short of a wet dream for a bunch of hormonal cesspool of teenagers.
Some surreptitious students even go as far as consulting this dream with professor Trelawney whether 'This could be an omen' or 'Could such a thing really happen?' but Nathan wasn't pleased At all.
In this dr- nightmare he miraculously entered the Triwizard tournament as a Hogwarts champion replacing pretty boy Cedric Diggory and after three exhilarating tasks (adventures) Nathan eventually won the tournament. How wonderful!?
Which was something he would never ever plan on doing even if he was under a dozen concussion spells. He wouldn't foolishly note it down in his to do list at any point of his life, heck! he wasn't that cruel enough to wish this happened to any of his enemies. Why? What Eternal glory? What Fame? All of this is utter bull**** to him.
Having vividly remember such a ridiculous dream when he was having a nice nap on his most expected and important day was an unpleasant experience for him. Nathan felt like he had this craving And expectation for a certain dish but having lost all your appetite when you smelled something unpleasant.
Please don't call it tradition! Of course Nathan in his both lives had great respect for tradition and was brought up like that but he has no choice to detest tradition like this. To Nathan this competition was nothing more than an Ill Suited attempt to bring together the three of the biggest international magical schools in Europe by crude means.
Yeah, it may be seen as a foresighted and revolutionary move back then. Even highly praised by people and sought after events for muggles and magicals alike; but it's about seven hundred years ago.
He could understand that, to a certain degree Nathan could admit they achieved what they were aiming for but that's in the past. Nathan saw no reason for this highly dangerous tournament to continue in the name of tradition.
For some compelling reasons, the three heads of the three biggest schools in Europe wanted to come together. It must be either as silly as bonding over a friendly little competition or showing lazy wizards how vast the world is motivating them.
That was a good and motivational thing for the witches and wizards in their countries. Back then most wizards struck into their own countries lazy and unmotivated. Very few wizards had any desire and courage to roam around the world and seek to better themselves.
Very few people showed any interest in exploring the unseen world. As most of them are content with what they have not to mention at that time the relationship with muggles wasn't unpleasant so they probably have quite a smooth life. There wasn't any tense or hateful atmosphere no concerning frictions for the next century at least, As witch trials started around the fourteenth century.
This Triwizard thing may even have something to do with politics and business relationship or alliance between three countries behind screen mechanisation of wizarding councils. But the successors of the three schools should have woken up at least after a few centuries of this circus showing all that unnecessary death piling over the years in the name of tournaments.
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Proving a legacy of a certain school or the might of their country wasn't worth this much of sacrifices. Even the contestants might at one point know fame and eternal glory wasn't everything in their short life. And the three heads thankfully picked up on that, finally put an end to this madness.
In this era of globalization this kind of Sh*** unrealistic tournaments weren't necessary and he wasn't willing to go through life and death situations for impractical fame and measly amounts of money, not anytime soon. It should have been his fifth year when the damn thing happened Nathan should have barely lived any life; for God sake he wasn't Harry Freaking Potter.
Nathan knew he had no plot armor, even if he had copious amounts of luck. He knew better than anyone whether such a thing was necessary for living his God sent opportunity to live a wonderful life.
To mature, grow old, live a life he always wanted. Nathan had to try his very best to stay out of trouble, twice as careful and cautious as Mad-eye Moody without making a trip to Janus Thickey ward in St. Mungo.
He told himself that unless absolutely necessary, he should act like a blind or fool even a useless log if it was needed. Not to mention the fact he has developed fear of death and dangerous things. 'How in seven levels of hell did I dream about such a horrible thing' he wondered.
[ Nathan, keep doing this you are going to get an earful from ol' Thomas. Quit whining about these useless things will you? So you had a dream of becoming a Tri wizard tournament winner. What's the big deal? We both know it's only going to remain as a wishful dream. You are not only a coward, it's highly possible you developed PPD. Now can you please get your a*** off the bed your grandpa going to come up]
Nathan kept his silence, but there were veins popping in his forehead, tiny ticks in his left eyelid and heavy breathing. Nathan didn't seem slightest bit surprised by the system's human-like conversation, and developed intelligence.
[Could it be that you really had such an idea deep in your heart... it somehow seeped into your dreams? Didn't there a human saying 'dreams are often reflection of people's subconscious thoughts' maybe-]
Nathan couldn't keep his cool any longer he growled at the system in his mind, his face contorted with surging fury « Damn system shut your mouth... Who are you trying to accuse with such nonsense? Is this another mind game of yours? I only say what I truly believe. This is my final say ' I wouldn't enter such a lousy competition No matter what that's the end'' »
There was a menacing edge in his voice as if he was accusing the system in some way. After a few minutes of unsuccessful attempt to calm his mind Nathan sat up and slowly got to his feet, Nathan couldn't help but inwardly sigh. He probably shouldn't have any rest until he boarded the fabled Scarlet Express.
That's why he was hesitating to get up from his bed for this long. Once he got up Nathan couldn't have time to think about these little troubling things. It was his anxiety, expectations and insecurities acting up on their own way to accepting the undeniable reality.
Today was the day he was going to board the Hogwarts Express and in the late evening he would have got sorted into one of the four houses and eaten this year's welcoming feast with his roommates and higher year students of his house.
Nathan is going to take the first step into the wizarding world. This is probably the reason why he felt this anxious this morning after waking up making a big deal out of small things.
Nathan got busy, it didn't take him much of a time. In less than an hour Nathan was ready standing in front of a long mirror. Nathan, dressed up in a nice looking semi formal blue shirt and black formal pants with his long hair neatly combed backwards he wore polished black shoes overall he looked like he was a son of a successful muggle business man.
With one last look at the mirror he went out of his room then walked down the stairs, the only thought in his mind was ' sleek and cool ' . Nathan at first wasn't so enthused to wear such a dress on his first day school ride but Thomas wasn't someone he could easily convince so he insisted on custom tailored pants as he didn't like the loose pants which was now trending.
"It's our dress that decides who we are, " said Thomas after one of their arguments a week ago. Thomas was very old school Nathan knew he couldn't convince this old man anytime soon he wasn't going to wear this all day anyway he can always change in school robes.
With his eleven year old appearance Nathan begrudgingly agreed that this was indeed looking good. As he was very surprised how smart he looked in this dress.
' Though I am not what people called handsome at my age but they most definitely would call me 'cute' for sure ' he smugly thought to himself ' I hope this doesn't intimidate the other kids from approaching me ' his treacherous heart whispered in the right moment this was indeed one of his biggest concern wearing such a dress.
Nathan wasn't paying much attention, he was in autopilot mode and went straight to the dining table but he heard gasp from the side, somewhere on his right before he could look up someone dragged him like a ragged doll.
"Aww! Look at you" A Pleasant female voice rang in his ears. Standing in front of him was a girl with shiny black hair around the age of fifteen or sixteen. The girl had refined aesthetic features wearing a black t-shirt and jeans currently grinning at him as she sized him up.
" Adada Azhagu, Aadiye en Azhagi! "(What a beauty, my pretty little girl) she unhesitatingly reached out, pinched his cheeks and pulled them apart. Nathan winced as he struggled out of her grasp with some effort taking a few steps away glaring up at her in anger.
" Lizzy! Are you insane? What are you trying to do? I'm telling you this once again, don't call me Azhagi." he looked at her with a trace of vigilance " I am obviously a boy not girl stop messing around" he grumbled.
The brunette cheekily grinned at him, "Come on don't be a spoilsport. Come here let me pinch you little more Azhagi " Lizzy cooed exaggeratedly animatedly waving her hands to agitate him.
Nathan looked at her incredulously. Obviously he was very wary of her when he saw the bright sparkles in her eyes. Nathan learned to fear this expression on her pretty face for good reason " You totally forgot I have my wand now huh? Keep teasing ...Do you believe I have means to make your first few days in hell " his expression effortlessly slipped into a scowl.
"Whatever, you're no fun, grandpa told me he will come down in fifteen minutes " with which she skipped away. ' Good thing she backed off ' Nathan sighed in his heart.
Of course he doesn't have the heart to do that to her but such threats come in handy in such tight situations.
He had to threaten her with his bizarre talent of springing up most unexpected pranks in the Reed household. He has no choice to resort to such a means; she may look like a bundle of goofy balls but he categorizes her as a dangerous individual.
He first thought she was expressing her family's love for him in a weird way. He tolerated that in favor of the things she brought for him, namely delicacies but things got more ridiculous. Why just a couple of months ago when she came back for break Lizzy tried to dress him in a girls outfit like a Girl!
Can you imagine that she dare to do that to me a handsome, manly teenage transmigrator she was insane. Unfortunately for him he wasn't stronger of the two. They were sparring partners he was quite strong for twelve years old but she was unusually stronger for her age and body.
He had to bite her a few times to escape her hands. He was terrified by her weird interests, always careful around her after that. Nathan felt he would mentally break down. " You look dashing Nathan " a voice came from his side.
"Good morning, grandma, grandpa" he smiled at the handful of portraits, his parents, grandparents, Great-grandparents all hanging on that room's wall. Nathan was here to show off and share his excitement.
