Nathan woke up with a pleasant enough mood, as for his mood last night and about the things that upset him, Nathan chooses to not care about it at least not for today.
Today was kind of his special day. After all, not only did he get a chance to reincarnate into the wizarding world he would likely grow up as a capable and reputable wizard. From his grandpa Thomas' words, who often bragged about Nathan's feats of accidental magic to his friends as a wee Toddler.
Although he didn't remember doing any accidental magic after he started to remember his previous life he wasn't bothered by it though it's rare for children below eleven years to control these bouts of accidental magic Nathan was even glad he managed this as he knows how scary accidental magic is after reading up about this phenomenon.
It wasn't as harmless as they portrayed in the books, the uncontrollable bouts of magic can be lethal to anyone including the child who was causing this phenomenon.
No one wants to accidentally do something dangerous which he was sure he might possibly do. Nathan was afraid his past life trauma and emotion might affect him and he might cause something drastic as he was often having nightmares about his past life.
Knowing the catalyst for accidental magic was strong emotions from someone be it happiness or anger the magic uses these emotions to manifest into reality there are cases of children throwing tantrums and setting fire on something.
Anyways the special day comes with special treatments which he didn't enjoy in his previous life although he was a teen nearing his twenty wasn't childish he had to admit there were seven parts of him wanting to enjoy the childhood and its perks once again.
After thinking of these special circumstances he didn't want to ruin his mood by thinking unnecessary things and worrying about them. As a person with future knowledge and his confidence of being wizard did much to suppress his anxiety and know fully well as long as he did his best before chaos erupts he can get past the dangers coming at him.
First he was pure blood so those lunatics wouldn't target him or his family unnecessarily at least not now when they are in the dark not knowing whether their master was alive or dead.
Assuming the worst, that is their revenge against his family as he believed his parents really might be a vigilante in the war against Voldemort. He very well knows who managed to stay out of Azkaban are a cowardly bunch of people who are in the pretense of control.
Voldemort wouldn't come back for quite some time. At worst he and his family went into hiding. Moreover, he planned to learn things that could be put to use to protect him and his family. He wasn't going to be passive if that cowardly bunch dared to target his family and wasn't going to limit his knowledge to just curriculum as well become a paper wizard.
But that doesn't mean he would neglect his study, seeking something at the cost of what was in front of him, if his thoughts were like that he would be another plain stupid wizard who attended the magic school out of obligation or made connections.
Even in this generation lackluster kids exist, like Cedric Diggory and Hermione Granger did exist who take their study seriously and become capable and accomplished in their own way.
One got selected to Tri wizard tournament while other supported the goofy duo in all dangerous adventures in their six academic years. Hadn't for her brain this wouldn't just be an adventure.
He didn't imply anything to the kids who succeeded in other fields like Quidditch, just that the adults and kids don't have situational awareness. Oliver Wood and Ginny Weasley become successful quidditch players; the twins succeed in opening a joke shop.
While tried his best to not think about Cedric instant death after all it could be considered as an ambush technique.
' I'm sure If Cedric knew little more about the danger at least he would have put up a decent fight ' he thought to himself not much of a conference though Peter Pettigrew may be less skillful but the guy was cunning and may know a few dark spells.
He got up from his bed groggily and walked towards the bathroom. Nathan was glad he didn't have to jog around the Manor. He got exempt today but he still did some stretches and did some jumping ropes then push ups.
After a warm shower and wearing a casual dress he walked down the stairs for breakfast sure enough he did spot a man with salt and pepper hair and neat mustache trimmed beard sitting on the couch reading the newspaper with a steaming cup of coffee placed on the table beside him.
"Good morning grandpa! " Nathan greeted the man in excited voices.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
"Good morning, Nathaniel, did you sleep well last night?" Thomas asked in a deep but pleasant voice.
"Uh-huh " as he walked past the old man grimaced at his full name. He heard reproachable "Hey" and frowned in confusion as he turned to look at his grandpa who had a somewhat sporting childishly stubborn look on his face with both of his gestures raised in gesture.
Nathan giggled lightly and hugged his grandpa lightly " Happy Birthday Nathan "
"Thank you grandpa" Nathan tightened his hug a little but reluctantly got up and walked towards the dining table with the old man.
He found his grandpa's behavior amusing, it was Thomas who strictly told him when he taught etiquette and manners a gentleman shouldn't act clingy or it will become a habit or whatever even bargained with Nathan only one hug before going to bed.
Now seeing him acting cringy and childish is somewhat amusing. If he just wants a hug then just have to say so or hug him with his childish attitude.
Nathan took the newspaper from the coffee table and looked at them with fascination. It's the fabled daily profit. His eyes jumped from one picture to another. He could feel the stern eyes across the table stiffly look up at Thomas' no nonsense look.
He placed paper in the empty seat. "Good, shall we eat breakfast? " Nathan nodded his head. He heard Thomas call out "Zeffy" the next second the dishes appeared in front of them.
He didn't drink coffee or, to be precise, was allowed to drink one claiming it was unhealthy, kids don't drink that stuff at his age or he might not be able to sleep at night.
Zeffy definitely knows how to cook especially south Indian dishes very well, he could tell this was something started by his great grandfather. He didn't hesitate with table manners as he started to serve himself " Sakkarai Pongal " a dish with a salivating smell and amazing taste.
Nathan had to admit this was a novel feeling for him as he never imagined he would reincarnate into the fabled British wizarding world and eat something he liked to eat back home.
This flavor was ever so fresh in his mouth and his mood fluctuated as he thought of something, he didn't notice when but he was forgetting memories of past life slowly for sure and he was sure of it.
Nathan had mixed feelings about it. On one hand he was glad he didn't have to remember these things, on the other hand he didn't have to keep it all in his heart as he was now another person who wanted to live as Nathaniel Reed.
' At least I didn't forget the novel plot ' Nathan was afraid he mysteriously forgot all about that then became as clueless as everyone. So when he found the anomaly he regularly started to recall the plot of this novel series.
He believed as long as he kept recalling them wouldn't forget this thing and at one point perfectly remember at least important details.
He noticed his grandfather had a thoughtful look as he glanced at him now and then, Nathan kept quite knowing very well he would know what's this all about.
" How are you feeling? " Thomas softly asked him, Nathan turned to look at his grandpa in confusion, as able to see the question marks on his face Thomas hesitated then softly continued "I mean... Did you still feel upset that your cousin wouldn't celebrate with us today"
"Ah!" Nathan immediately understands what's this all about, for the last few birthdays Lizzy was staying here with him during all of his birthdays she would be present.
Now that she went to Beauxbatons for her first year Thomas tentatively enquired him how he was feeling. It is natural that kids feel a little down if they don't see someone close to them on their birthday.
Nathan was indeed a little upset last month but he wasn't really a child as he quickly got over his moping, his mentality was different, he knew very well portkeys weren't easy to obtain, moreover she would be still getting familiar with her school and subject.
There is no way professors would allow a first year student to take a couple of days leave, which she told him via letter complaining and whining. Nathan felt warm when he thought about their care.
" Lizzy did tell me in her letter.." Nathan frowned little " Maybe they wouldn't be so strict with her next year " he replied, assuring himself at the same time.
"Hahahaha, yes they wouldn't be so strict, don't be so sad. If you want to, I have a portkey with me in France . We can still visit her in the school in the evening" his grandpa said lightly but his expression was serious.
Nathan wasn't so sure whether his grandpa was telling the truth or just comforting him but chose to act like he believed him and thought about it he shook his head at his grandpa.
" We can't talk with her much even if we go there, she would be here for Christmas" Nathan paused and looked at Thomas asked " She is coming right "
" Don't worry she will surely come, for the holidays. Her father will probably go see her in school before the holidays, so she will be free to come here for the Holiday break " Thomas assured him.
"Oh okay" Nathan was a little awkward to talk about it. Unlike Nathan, who lost both of his parents, Lizzy's father was alive and living well but after his first wife's death he married another woman political alliance.
Thus leaving his daughter to his uncle Thomas, who was his mother's biological brother. Nathan never liked to find him if he was a little older Nathan would have scolded him for his hypocrisy and snobbish behavior.
He felt sorry for Lizzy, he couldn't tolerate such a behavior no Matter what reason a father shouldn't do this to his children.
" Nathan shall we go? " Nathan looked up and saw Thomas walking out from a room checking something on his hand before putting it in his coat.
Nathan nodded silently as he stride towards his Thomas. Reeds didn't throw any fancy birthday parties for the last couple of years. He didn't think it was his kind of thing.
So after breakfast the three of them toured somewhere, last year they went Germany the year before France Thomas was a busy person he had to solely manage Reed's assets and business until Nathan learned how to do business.
Nathan convinced him to take a few days off from his birthday and go for a quick tour though it wasn't much of a tour; they enjoy company and deserving family time as Thomas put it.
This year both proposed different things shot down by the other party. In the end after some argument it's decided to simply tour London for two days.
It was much better than Lizzy's last year idea of a knight bus ride around Britain.
