Sleepy Boy, Savage System and Nathan In Pickle

Sleepy Boy, Savage System and Nathan In Pickle

[Are you nervous now? My Goodness, you finally showed some appropriate emotion for once, I have to say it looks good on you as a first year student]

Nathan heard the nonsense of the ever blabbering system. He tried his best to ignore its mocking comments. He had to admit, right now it was already getting on his nerves then it ever before.

But Nathan knew well enough he could do nothing about the system. It's bound to annoy him for the rest of his life; he couldn't estrange the system anymore than it already is.

🎶 You are... my fire

The one... desire

Believe... when I say

I... want...it that wayyy

But we are two worlds apart

Can't reach to your heart

When you say 🎶

He singed a well known song by famous boy band. He hasn't come into contact with the music side of the world yet. He knew there were several wizard bands and musicians out there. Some witches and wizards without prejudice go to muggle concerts.

Unfortunately for him, Thomas was too much of bul- ahem disciplinist. His only source from Lizzy he heard bits and pieces of music culture of the wizarding world, a few bands like the 'Weird Sisters' and 'Spellbound' as well famous musicians like Celestina and Blodwyn.

Unfortunately she wasn't into this, so he decided that he would get to know the wizarding side of the musicians and band on his own.

He was currently standing in front of the mirror adjusting himself, he had put so much effort into tidying up his appearance he doubted even someone like Draco Malfoy or Pansy Parkinson pale in comparison and wouldn't be this diligent.

In fact the truth is like the system said he was too excited and too nervous last night. He didn't have any decent sleep that too before his first day of classes. He didn't know when he fell asleep but he woke up very much earlier than he intended to.

Despite not having a proper rest, he couldn't sleep and kept tossing and turning. He felt like his body was full of excessive energy. Thankfully Nathan had a good way to bleed out these nervous energy from his system.

He went down to the grounds and ran a few laps around the lake. He followed up with his regular work out routine and even beat his own bests; the following stretch routine was much more relaxing he felt that his stress was eased up a lot.

He took a cold shower, tried his best to correct his appearance. Nathan wasn't a narcissistic person but he would want to create a good image on his teachers. Had Thomas seen this all he would be very much glad and prideful for raising Nathan like this.

Nathan couldn't stand the snoring from the lazy bums anymore. So after preparing a special gift for them out of good intentions. Nathan took his books and backpack and went down to the common room and waited for his friends to get ready.

He took out a beginner level potions book, one of a few books he bought outside of syllabus and started to read them silently. Potions wasn't a new thing to him, though he wasn't interested in it, his 'talent' or rather with his inheritance it was undeniable he would become a best potion master.

It so happens that his grandpa was a potion master himself. So naturally he thought Nathan a thing or two, it had to be said for the last few years he truly impressed Thomas with his budding talent. So Thomas was generous enough to teach him about his personal experience.

To be honest Nathan wanted none of that but unfortunately he drew that inheritance from the system so he would try his best to make use of it to gain reputation points from using his skills.

It so happens that, snape was a git and had a poisonous mouth. Nathan wasn't sure what he would say if he found out Nathan was the grandson of a well known Potion Master. 'Like they say it's better safe than being sorry ' he narrowed his eyes at this thought.

He didn't know how but he fell asleep while he was reading the Divan. A figure slowly creeped towards him, her eyes clearly on him; her gray eyes had a bright luster as she stared at his face.

She held her breath and walked closer to him crouched down near him, looking at the book in his hand " Deft hands: An in depth study on preparing the ingredients and it's benefit" she read them in a quiet voice.

Her cold, expressionless face had a speculative expression she absentmindedly glanced at his direction and stunned seeing his sleeping face closer she felt her mind get woozy.

She didn't know how long she was in daze. Sharp footsteps shook her awake from whatever she was doing. She froze when she noticed Nathan was stirring and she scrambled away almost tripping by her own feet. She carefully looks around for who else has come down.

She went to sit on the couch on the side and hurriedly took out a book. She grimaced, her hands were shaking, her body was tense, she tried her best to maintain her composure as she looked over her shoulder 'casually'.

Three girls coming down from the seventh year's Dormitory with bags in their hands. Talking animatedly to one another, they didn't notice Artemis and Nathan which made her relax her stiff body; she turned to her book and cast a sidelong glance at Nathan who was still sleeping.

At this point the girls who come down take notice of these, the first years are already down. Made their way and sat not far from them Artemis nodded at them and in return they waved at her and continued with their chatting.

Artemis' eyes were for some reason constantly went to the face of sleeping Nathan. As time passed she noticed he was stirred More than once, she hesitated a little and gestured the seventh years to lower their voices indicating the boy was sound asleep which they did with a peculiar look.

*Thud*

Not long after that Somehow the book on his lap slid down to the ground, waking him up. Artemis was startled by his stormy gray eyes but schooled her expression and turned her eyes back to her book.

"Damn, did I fall asleep somehow?" he mumbled groggily.

"What do you think?" Artemis looked up "Didn't you sleep well last night?"

Nathan rubbed his face In frustration, ignoring her question. " Why didn't you wake me up? "

"Should I? It looks like you were very tired.." she saw him frown and changed her words " I mean...I would have woken you up once those two came down. After all we have to go down for breakfast and our classes will start soon "

"How are you feeling?"

"Sleepy " Nathan rolled his eyes "Maybe I'm really tired" he hesitated a little "Could you wake me up...if I fell asleep once again?" which Artemis curtly nodded.

Nathan adjusted his posture and once again opened his book. He felt a little embarrassed, not only Artemis saw him, even the three girls sitting behind looking over he wasn't sure they were laughing at him.

Of course he didn't dare to look at them after that. It's heaven's blessing they didn't come over and harass him. Nathan was afraid if he paid them anymore they might use this as an excuse to stretch out their evil claws towards him.

He was uncomfortable to be alone with girls. It's not without reason, Lizzy's friends called him a doll and behaved atrociously at him. Ironically enough it was Lizzy who made sure they didn't abuse him too much. 'The less I get to know the better it is for me and my health' Nathan thought to himself.

Artemis subtly glanced at him and speechless he was already dozing off, her lips twitched into an amused grin. She didn't plan to wake him up yet.

"Yo!" a stuffy backpack flew over and crashed into the divan "How long have the two of you been waiting here?" a quirky voice exclaimed, alerting both Artemis and Nathan.

"Bloody hell...you scared them " Marcus scolded him with a light slap on his back but there was a look of amusement on his face.

Artemis glared at the two, she was too observed in....reading that she accidentally crushed a few pages. "Ah sorry " both of them looked sheepish while Nathan looked at them with groggy eyes.

His lips quivered, seeing an unnatural look on their face. He pretends to not notice anything as a prankster he would never rush things. If they put up their guard he has trouble pranking them 'Hmm....that's too will be a good experience should I...' light bulbs flashing in his head.

The four of them come to a great Hall breakfast "Wow! Professor Flitwick personally gave us our timetable " one of the third year boys near Eddie exclaimed.

"Must be busy. I expect him to give a first year welcome speech in our common room this morning" a fourth year student commented.

Nathan and the others looked over, they could see him at the other end of the table giving timetables for everyone. He heard not every house gives their students a timetable at breakfast.

Houses like Ravenclaw and Slytherins supposedly get their timetable on their common room early that morning.

Nathan also saw McGonagall doing the same; he showed it to his friends and told them it might not be a big deal. Marcus replied to this claiming she was usually pretty busy on the first day of the school.

Nathan shrugged his shoulders, munching his toast and eggs. Eddie and Marcus complained about a small troupe of wild pixies sneaking into their dormitory early this morning.

This troupe of mischievous flying menaces wreaked havoc in the room. "We just started to get up one by one there or suddenly on us screaming and swarming towards us like harpies." Marcus touched his head.

" I fell down, and they snatched Ralph's glasses, chased Aston all the way to the bathroom and pulled Eddie's pants down..." Eddie kicked Marcus on his leg Nathan and Artemis looked surprised and giggled.

With a flushed face Eddie interrupted the chubby boy " When did you see that...don't listen to him he was hiding in his closet all the time."

"You know what? When we went to see sixth year Prefect Ryan on our way down, he claimed he didn't hear any of our screaming "can you believe that?"

Marcus nodded furiously " He and Julian think we are lying. Do they think we had nothing better to do in the early morning?"

Like the others Nathan also put on an indignant and slightly innocent expression. " Were those things still in our dormitory? "He has this serious expression on his face.

Artemis interjected "Did you bring Ryan to your dormitory? Has anyone found how these pixies sneaked in?"

The two boys shook their heads " We don't know.... we ran into the bathroom and locked the door. Everything fell into silence after a few minutes they weren't in there anymore " Marcus said.

" Well, Aston and I checked the room after Ryan and Julian went down. I couldn't figure out how they come in every window in our dormitory locked....Do you think they will harass us everyday?"

" Shouldn't you guys tell this to Professor Flitwick? " Artemis asked.

"Shhhh! He might hear you " Nathan silenced her, they happily received their timetable. Artemis shot him a scrutinizing glance Nathan raised his eyebrow what?

"When did you come down again?" her tone was tinged with suspicion.

"Before you guys come down? " Nathan feigned innocence with a confused face.

" Mate, consider yourself lucky. I'm afraid you would have burst into tears " Aston butt in jokingly commented.

"Yeah, my grandpa told me I was lucky like that " Nathan laughed, he couldn't help but be a little irked by that comment. Just because he was pretty and doll-like everyone thought he was fragile and easy to bully.

Nathan didn't know what else he could do. He was taller than most boys his age and wasn't cubby like Marcus. most importantly give off that 'I'm fit and athletic' aura to people around him because of his years of effort in training.

' Should I beat him up?' a dark thought came to him. 'Nah, next time I'll give him some special gift, didn't he think he was better than everyone else?'

[Nathan, Your thoughts are getting more and more dark these days. I think you better consult mind healers or else I'm afraid you will soon become a psychopath]

Nathan shivered and came back to reality, disturbed he didn't participate in their chatter and looked down his time table. It's the same for the other three tables, everyone excitedly talking about timetables.

Raven claw first years had charms for their first class, then Dada, after fifteen minutes break they had transfiguration double period then lunch History of magic double period.

All of them are core subjects taught in Hogwarts, most often they have double periods. Nathan frowned when he noticed flying lessons. Tomorrow's afternoon he grimaced and felt butterflies in his stomach.

The Fifth year prefect Julian was nice enough to bring them to the charms classroom on the third floor. Like he expected that day classes were mostly about theories; in fact a second year In Study Hall informed them.

Aside from potions they wouldn't have any practical lessons until mid October the soonest. Nathan was trying to interact more and more with older year students so that he could get a better understanding about how they were taught every year and also it was a good chance to plant a good opinion about him in their heart.

Nathan didn't know how to feel after the curriculum of seven years combined only so and so. He decided that when he had free time Nathan would research and practice some simple spells from the library.

It seems the older students misunderstood him, unaware of his thoughts they consoled him. Claiming he will get the hang of it, Nathan didn't bother to correct this misunderstanding.

He got a few hundred reputation points at the end of the classes. Nathan and his friends come to the Great Hall for dinner. He has impressed the first years in his house, with his intellectual and bravery.

[*Scoff* You can be really shameless. Merlin! If they have your maturity they would have done the same. It's normal they can't bring themselves to talk older students; it's not bravery but called treachery and scheming]

‹Can you stop bothering me for every little thing?›

[ I can't, I wouldn't! I'm supposed to guide you to be a better person-]

‹Says who? I think you misunderstood something, no one appointed you to be my spiritual guide. Definitely not me did you understand that? You claimed such a thing for your convenience.›

[Uh-huh? Then here is the deal. Don't disgust me with your cheap and scummy attitude. I try my best to stay out of your hair, I was trying my very best to tolerate you wasn't I?]

Nathan rolled his eyes and started to fill his plate with yummy looking dishes. He overheard whispering about something "It's him"

"quidditch captain"

"Fabulous "

"Madam Hooch says so "

"Don't you think you were hyping it up"

"We were having good team too"

"Don't believe him."

"Of course we will be winner "

Nathan asked Eddie and Ralph about this matter and turned and looked at the gryffindor table " That's right he is that Charlie Wesley " Ralph said gesturing towards the stocky redhead.

"I don't believe he can be that good. You were exaggerating him" Eddie argued with Marcus.

" For Merlin's sake, I'm not lying to you. You can ask anybody. I heard there were even scouts of national team have couple of meetup with him during one of his games last year and try to recruit him "

Eddie rolled his eyes and turned towards Nathan "Can anyone believe this nonsense? Everyone was trying hard to get into team but according to him they fawned over a sixth year Student"

"He is seventh year-"

" It was true, He was sixth year when they offered him.... Aston and the others arguing with each other.

"Who is this Charlie Weasley again?" a first year girl curiously interjected.

‹Is it really that troublesome? You told me the other day I can stack them up to seven or eight without much of a problem?› Nathan frowned subtly as he looked at famed seeker Charlie Wesley.

As usual they once again come to some compromise. When it comes to business, the system can be very professional; put aside its annoyance and complaints about Nathan and his personality.

[I don't think so, don't try to trick me into this. My memory is impeccable. I only said at most seven or eight I can control at most. But that's depends on how simple they were]

[Nathan I can't simply do whatever you want just because I said it was possible. Besides some of them aren't compatible with one another if I forcefully deployed then accidents are inevitable-]

Eddie nudged Nathan lightly " Hey, why are you quiet? Are you even listening to what he was saying? Tell him how difficult it was to pick scouts' interest."

"Hmm!...I'm sorry what?" Nathan turned to look at Eddie in confusion. Eddie looked at him accusingly.

*Giggle*

" I think Nathan might have developed a crush on Weasley. He looking at Weasley with intense eyes "

"No way...was this what they called celebrity crush or it's something else?" the boy's friend exaggerated.

‹Well, system I think we better plan it thoroughly so we postpone it to Thursday or Friday what do you think?›

[That would be good. No one said You have to do this today]

Artemis looked over with an unreadable expression. Her eyes were scrutinizing his troubled looking face.

"What is it?" Nathan, asked in annoyance. She was simply too much, she has been doing this all day and her scrutinizing glances give him chills. He was afraid he would have a nightmare because of this.

"Nothing"
