Soaring Dragon Continent, Sky Serpent School

After receiving the invitation from the emperor many of the elders were busy helping their disciples cultivate even faster. Those elders who didn’t have any disciples weren’t in a rush to get any, they had till the end of the year to find one, so they could just wait and see who they should get. Fang Wei himself wasn’t in a rush to buy anything for Qiu Zhen to speed up his cultivation and spent his time like he normally does.

However Fang Wei has gotten himself another disciple, but only in name. Qiu Zhen told his master that Li Haun should become his disciple if only in name so she could participate, and he agreed to it. Considering she was related to Li Lan in a way, Fang Wei was happy to accept such a person. However when he decided to give her pointers on what martial skills and secret skills she should cultivate in, she refused him. This was a huge blow to him, his pride as a master was shook.

Li Haun might be the only person in the world who cultivates to increase her level, but does not cultivate any martial skills. Qiu Zhen wonders why she doesn’t cultivate any skills, and when he asked she said she doesn’t need trash skills. Qiu Zhen didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, it’s true that the skills in the Sky Serpent school aren’t that great, but they are better than most.

Seeing that she didn’t cultivate in any of those skills, he wondered if she had martial skills of her own. However whenever Qiu Zhen visits her, she is always meditating and never actually cultivating skills. Thus he decided for himself that she already has learned them, or has none.

Qiu Zhen ran out of all his DayNight pills, and demon cores he had so his cultivation speed slowed down. Compared to others however his speed could still be considered insanely fast. Qiu Zhen could absorb all of the qi in the air while others couldn’t, so of course his cultivation speed would be many times more than theirs.

With the excitement of his fight with Ye Fa calming down the inner disciples many people stopped visiting and talking to him whenever. There was still many people still doing it, but not as many as before when his fame was rising. During this time besides him visiting Li Haun who was more docile than before, he also had a few visits from Gan Fang.

Gan Fang and Qiu Zhen compared notes a few times on cultivation and Qiu Zhen even helped Gan Fang pick out a few martial skills. During their time together, Qiu Zhen felt he made a real pal who he could casually talk to.

During these last two months since the invitations arrived Qiu Zhen hasn’t made a breakthrough which isn’t surprising. Going from the seventh Dao realm to the eight would take a normal person many years to accomplish. When Qiu Zhen absorbed all the three elixirs and used the cultivation pills his dantian felt eighty percent full.

Compared to him who was going at a slower pace, Li Haun’s own cultivation could be compared to his own. She mediates all day so she is bound to show some results, but the results she showed was insane. Originally when he met her, she was at the fourth Dao realm, but in the two months she has been here is already at the fifth. This speed is shocking because she hasn’t received any cultivation pills from Qiu Zhen, and hasn’t even had any at all.

This was bound to change soon, because today all the inner disciples were going to participate in the hunt. Everyone was excited because the hunt would help them increase their cultivation speed.

The hunt only happened once every three months at the Sky Serpent school and it garnished all the attention of the inner disciples. In the back of the Sky Serpent school there was a forest that had thick black fog surrounding it and if one entered they would never escape. To make sure none of their disciples every ventured into the forest the Sky Serpent school placed a barrier on the entrance.

The only reason the hunt happens every three months is because that is when the black fog vanishes making it easier for them to see. Before the fog was so thick you wouldn’t even be able to see your hand if it was right in front of you, but now you could see a tree twenty meters away.

The hunt was quite easy for most the inner disciples, but it was also very rewarding. The only goal was to go into the forest to hunt down ten demon beast of your cultivation or higher. This wasn’t the rewarding part about it, but the forest also had special herbs that you could collect to increase your cultivation speed. These special herbs could only be found in this forest and no where else. However this wasn’t the only way to increase your cultivation, if you brought back twenty demon cores of your cultivation rank or higher the school would reward you with cultivation pills. The more demon cores your bring back, the better the rewards your will receive.

Qiu Zhen walked with Li Haun and Gan Fang to the back of the school where the forest was located. Many of the inner disciples were in pairs because no one wanted to go into the forest and hunt demon beast alone. The number of disciples were as many that appeared when Qiu Zhen fought Ye Fa, but it seemed a bit bigger.

Everyone couldn’t help but be excited for the hunt to start, because they would spend most of their time looking for the special herbs or killing demon beast. With the arrival of ten elders the disciples felt as if they could hop out of their skin. They knew that the hunt was starting, and it was starting soon.

“Quiet down! First I need to explain the rules for the hunt. Usually you go in and hunt a number of demon beast and return later, but this time the headmaster has a task he ask you to fulfill.”

One of the elders spoke and when the inner disciples heard that the headmaster wanted them to complete a task they got even more motivated. A task given by the headmaster couldn’t be such a simple task, and if they happened to complete it then they would be rewarded heavily.

Seeing that the disciples couldn’t contain their excitement the elder had a faint smile. “The task is simple and only one person can achieve it. Many of you are new to the inner disciples and many more of you have never heard the name of this forest before. The name is Black Tortoise forest, you may know the name Black Tortoise, white tiger, azure dragon and the vermillion bird. You might be thinking this forest is connected to the Black Tortoise, and you are correct!”

“Eighty years ago in this exact forest the legendary Black Tortoise actually came down and left a treasure here. The headmaster has searched for it in secret but has never found it, therefore this year he has decided that the treasure must not be his to have. In such a case we elders also went looking for it but had no luck at finding it, thus now we pass it down to you. Your task is simple if you find the treasure bring it back, if not, do not worry, just complete the hunt.”

With that being said, the ten elders broke the barrier at the entrance. “You have ten days for this hunt, if you don’t make it back then, pray to the heavens you survive in there.”

“Watch that treasure will be mines, if any one of you dares get in my way… Hpmh! Pray that doesn’t happen!”

“Pft, get the fuck outta here! You think such a thing is yours watch, i’ll get it before you!”

“While you two idiots are thinking about the treasure, you should think about the competition.”

The two guys looked at eachother before noticing the greed filled eyes of the other inner disciples. It seems that everyone had their eyes on the treasure the Black Tortoise left here.

All of the inner disciples ran straight into the Black Tortoise forest full speed. None of them wanted to be the last person to find such a treasure, they all wanted to be fist. However compared to them, Qiu Zhen and his group walked slowly, such a treasure to Qiu Zhen was interesting but it couldn’t be as simple as the headmaster is making it seem.

“Ah, isn’t that brother Qiu Zhen!” An angelic voice sounded out making Qiu Zhen turn around.

A young female with long blue hair was walking over along with two other men. Qiu Zhen knew her, she wasn’t some stranger he never met before. “Hu Jun, long time no see.”
