Chapter Fifty-Four

Soaring Dragon Continent, Sky Serpent School

Qiu Zhen followed behind Fang Wei as they walked to the center of the school. There were tons of disciples following behind other elders. Walking next to Qiu Zhen was Li Haun, who had a white vial over her face. Qiu Zhen was correct when he thought about her cultivation. It wasn’t at the Mystical realm, but it was close. Li Haun is at the eight Dao realm, which is a huge jump from the fifth Dao realm. Breaking through three levels in six months is not easy. If Qiu Zhen didn’t have the tattoo then he probably wouldn’t be able to do that. He wondered how she was able to do it, but he didn’t pry into it.

“Wait here, the headmaster will be here soon.” Fang Wei told the two disciples.

Qiu Zhen looked around the current disciples. He didn’t see anyone who he knew, only a few people who he has seen before. Glancing through the crowd, Qiu Zhen noticed that female elder who has been at Fang Wei’s place multiple times. Next to her is a female disciple, who has a blue emblem on her shoulder. ‘So she’s her disciple.’ Qiu Zhen thought to himself before facing the front again.

The female disciple he noticed happened to be one of the members of the Blue Rose faction. She’s the one who stopped those females from attacking Qiu Zhen before. He probed for her cultivation, and like he expected she was at the Mystical realm.

Shortly after more elders started showing up with either one or two disciples. Qiu Zhen spotted Gan Fang walking next to an elderly man with grey hair. Qiu Zhen didn’t know who that elder was because he has never seen him before ever since he has been here.

When Qiu Zhen glanced at the elderly man he returned the look with a gaze of his own. it felt as if his gaze was going straight through Qiu Zhen’s body, making him quickly turn his head. The elder seeing that Qiu Zhen stopped looking at him grinned as he took his place in the crowd.

Finally one last elder showed up followed by one male and one female disciple. The male disciple and the female were both at the peak of the Dao realm. ‘It seems she isn’t a disciple of an elder’ Qiu Zhen said to himself. Hu Jun was not in sight, so he figured that she wasn’t a disciple of one of these elders. He could be wrong because the headmaster still has his own disciples, but Qiu Zhen didn’t think Hu Jun had what it took to be a disciple of the headmaster.

In total there were around fifty disciples ranging from inner and core disciples. The lowest one had the strength at the seventh Dao realm, while the strongest was at the mid Mystical realm. The elders didn’t even bother talking with each other and they all started to meditate. The person who they were waiting on was the headmaster and his disciple, who knows how long they will be.

Around two hours after everyone had gather the elders opened their eyes. An old man floated down and landed in the middle of them. The crowd was in a circle so the headmaster was in the middle. Two female disciples were with him, each one at the mid Mystical realm. ‘So these are his disciples..’ Qiu Zhen thought to himself.

The two girls looks very identical. They both had short black hair, and their oval faces looked exactly the same. The only actual difference between the two is their bust size, other than that you could mistake one for the other.

When the headmaster landed, the elders all bowed to show him respect. He gave them a signal to raise their heads and they did. The headmaster took a quick look at all the disciples who were gathered and nodded his head. These disciples were the best of the best, or would have a limitless future ahead of them.

“As you know we were invited by the emperor to attend this tournament. Usually I would give you words of motivation and tell you to do your best. However for this tournament I fear your best will not cut it. In my entire life I have never seen or heard of anything on this scale. Every single first rate school will be appearing, and all of their best disciples will as well.” The headmaster paused for a moment to give the disciples a strong glare. “However as you know we may be a first rate school, but the number of elders and disciples cannot compare to the others. I cannot tell you about the other first rate schools in the other kingdoms because I am not there. However in the Fu kingdom, we are one of the greatest! Thousands, or even millions of disciples will be present. They will work hard to defeat everyone in their path. Why? Because they are in the presence of the emperor. We cannot back down, you cannot fear them. You have are all disciples of the Sky Serpent school as such you will soar to great heights. However you must defeat at least one opponent, if not… well just don’t think about showing your face here again.”

Once the headmaster finished speaking all the disciples suttered. If they didn’t defeat at least one opponent, then they were finished. They couldn’t come back to the school at all, and they would have to go to another school. However what school would accept them? Sure those second or third rate schools will be jumping to accept them, but what of the other first rate schools!? They have their own disciples and their own exams. Most of them here are all past the age to even enter a school, so if they lose then they will become a Rogue cultivator.

The Headmaster nodded towards the elders. The elders all started chanting and a black portal appeared in the middle of the circle. The headmaster clapped his hands together causing the portal to become stable. “Step foot inside.” He said.

One by one all the disciples started entering the portal. Some were slower than others, but finally the last one managed to go in. It wasn’t that they didn’t want to enter, but they knew once they did there was no going back.

Qiu Zhen entered the portal and everything was blue. He felt light as a feather as his body teleported itself to some unknown place. It was only a split second for his surroundings to change, but Qiu Zhen knew exactly where this place was. It was the place he lived once he became an Immortal. The land seemed different and there were more houses than normal, but there was no mistake. He looked forward and ahead was a big bright palace. It was the emperor's palace, the same place he lived.

Gan Fang noticed Qiu Zhen who seemed to be in a daze. He walked over to him just as the elders and the headmaster came through the portal. “Brother Qiu Zhen!” He called out to him.

Qiu Zhen turned his head to Gan Fang who was walking over to him. “Hey.” He replied.

“Why were you staring off? Did you notice something?” Gan Fang questioned him.

Qiu Zhen shook his head. “No, just remembered something.”

“You’ve been here before?”

“Yeah… something like that.”

Qiu Zhen didn’t lie to Gan Fang. He has been here before, but just not in this life time. Back when he was the emperor this was his land, and it held precious memories for him. Those memories included his wife who he was somewhat hoping to see during this tournament. He hoped that she was still alive and that Chang Chi didn’t kill her. As long as he met her, his heart would feel at peace.

“Really? I didn't expect you to come here. I mean… with the emperor and all.” Gan Fang said while frowning. He didn’t expect Qiu Zhen to be from this place, now this man everything different.

Qiu Zhen lightly laughed. “No, I didn’t come from here. I’ve just been here once before, never stayed.”

Gan Fang nodded. It would be weird if Qiu Zhen did stay here. One reason for it being weird is because he would have to travel a long distance just to reach the Sky Serpent school. Who would travel such a distance just to attend school?

The elders told the disciples to follow them and they began walking towards the palace. The palace is not where the tournament was held, but it was close to the location. Qiu Zhen and Gan Fang continued on talking while following behind the elders. Soon they reached the outskirts of the palace and there was a huge crowd outside. There were probably millions of people if not billions in the area. There were two different lines formed, both of which headed into a gigantic building. The building was very appealing to the eye, and had statues surrounding it. Outside of the building was a statue of Chang Mu the late emperor. Many people approached it, while some ignored it.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

Qiu Zhen could easily tell which line was for what. One line was for the spectators who were going to watch such an event, and another was for the schools who were participating. The Sky Serpent school walked over to the line for the participants. Many eyes were watching them as the stood in line. Some were envious others were disappointed with their size.

“Look, that group is definitely going to lose major face.”

“Indeed, the Blazing Heaven school is definitely one of the top contenders this year. They brought in over two hundred disciples, I heard the lowest one was at the eight Dao realm.”

“Ah, such a school is definitely the way to go. The only other school I would have to root for is the Golden Lion. They raised such fierce disciples over the years, and many are known in at least two kingdoms if not more.”

“I’m just so excited! All this talent in one place is differently going to garnish attention!”

“I know, not to mention the disciple who wins will be the undisputed number one genius in the younger generation. I also heard a rumor that Chang Jia is going to be engaged to the winner.”

“Really!? Doesn’t that mean the winner will become Chang Chi’s son in law? Wait.. what if the winner is a female disciple..?”

“Doesn’t matter, Chang Chi said that he has something for the female winner as well. I heard it’s another marriage engagement, but this time to someone else.”

“Who could it be? He doesn’t have any sons or nephews… does he?”

“No idea, we’ll just have to see.”

Qiu Zhen was all ears listening to the cultivators and mortals that were talking. He laughed inwardly thinking about Chang Chi’s daughter. She has to have the strongest out of all the males to be her husband? This girl is just too outrageous.

The line started shortening and soon the Sky Serpent school entered the building. Just like his exam, he had to draw a number. Qiu Zhen drew F4520, and continued walking through the building.

The crowd was huge, but isn’t it a little too early? There are still two days left until the tournament begins. ‘What is he planning?’ Qiu Zhen thought to himself as he continued on walking with his school.

His school just like the others had their own section. However unlike the other schools, their section was small, but it was all huge. It was smaller compared to the other schools, but it was large enough to fit all of them in it plus more.

The seats were being filled to the brim while everyone was shouting. It seems they couldn’t wait for the event to start. Chang Chi came out with his wife by his side. Her looks were stunning, it was even on par with Yan Xiang’s. Qiu Zhen took a glance at Li Haun who was by his side and shook his head. She was too young her womanly features had no way to compare to the person by Chang Chi’s side.

When Chang Chi entered the whole crowd became quiet. Not even a whisper was heard when he came out. These people gave him the utmost respect.

“Greetings, today I invited every single first rate school to attend this event. I did it for a few reasons, but the most important one of them all is to find out who is the best disciple in the younger generation. You might ask yourself what’s in it for you? Well i’ll tell you the top five will get anything they want. However only the top ranking male and female will get an even grander prize.”

Chang Chi turned his attention to the woman by his side. “You all know who she is, this is my wife, the empress. Jun Jiaying.”

The crowd went wild. However Jun Jiaying’s face seemed frozen as if she was completely stiff. Her eyes seemed void of any emotion, however she was still stunning. Her hair draped over her shoulder and she had long legs. Her skin was snow white without one blemish.

“As most of you have heard, my sole heir. My only daugther, Chang Jia is currently looking for a husband. The male who stands above all others shall have her hand in marriage. Does not matter your age, and she is completely pure.”

After talking about his daughter a woman came out. She had a black veil over her face hiding her facial features, but her body was completely exposed. She was wearing a skin tight red dress that clung to her body. Her body alone attracted the attention of all the male disciples, not to mention the slit in her dress which exposed her snow white leg.

Qiu Zhen glanced at the males who came with him. Their eyes were glued on both of the women, not even looking at the woman next to Chang Jia. Chang Chi didn’t even introduce the woman next to his daughter, but Qiu Zhen already knew who she was. She was Chang Chi’s first wife Le Lin. She could not compare to his wife or Jun Jiaying.

“Let us take this moment to remember my late brother, your late emperor Chang Mu. His strength was unparalleled under the heavens, but he died at such a young age. He will always be in my heart no matter where he is.” Chang Chi paused for a breif moment. “His wife, my sister Yan Xiang has blessed us with her presence today. She agreed to attend this event because of one person.”

Chang Chi pointed towards a seat far from the crowd. There was a beautiful woman sitting alone, she wore a black veil over her face, but everyone could tell she was beautiful. Just by sitting alone she attracted countless males.

Hearing what Chang Chi said, Qiu Zhen’s eyes immediately shot towards Yan Xiang. He took a deep breath. She was still alive. There was no mistaking it, the way she carried herself, the way she sat. She was most definitely his wife, his Yan’er.

“This person is truly blessed under the heavens. He is a genius that can only appear once in a lifetime. He is currently fourteen years of age this year, but he has already surpassed his father.” Chang Chi took a glance at the crowd who was holding their breath.

“I would like to introduce you to my nephew, the son of Chang Mu. Chang Mo.”

A male came out dressed in red robes. He had black hair that came to his shoulder and black eyes. If you put Qiu Zhen next to him people could swear they were twins. The only difference is their eye color, but other than that they look exactly the same.

‘I have a son!?’ Qiu Zhen was puzzled. When he died Yan Xiang showed no signs of being pregnant, so how could he have a son?

“Chang Mu at the age of fourteen was still at the Qi realm. However his son, Chang Mo has already stepped foot into the Dao realm. Not only that, but he is at the fourth Dao realm!” Chang Chi said in a loud voice.

The crowd broke out in shock. Such a genius really existed under the heavens? If you told them a fourteen year old child was at the Dao realm they wouldn’t believe it. Tell them he is at the fourth Dao realm and they’ll kill you for telling such a tale. However the proof was in front of them. What kind of medicine did he eat while he was growing up!?

Qiu Zhen was also shocked. He didn’t expect his son to have such talent. If he himself didn’t have his tattoo then he probably wouldn’t even be in the Mystical realm, so it is shocking for him to see his son in the Dao realm. Not only that normal cultivators wouldn’t even be at the Dao realm if they were Chang Mo’s age.
