Hadrian watched Vi partly in awe and partly in fear. He wasn’t afraid of her perse but he was afraid of what she could do. She had just cursed her father and her uncle in pretty much one breath. And with the next she was taunting one of the most powerful wizards. Yet, she wasn’t afraid of any of them. In fact, they all seemed to be terrified of her. Iv was the only exception to that. Iv waved Hadrian over. Hadrian, though reluctant to leave Draco’s side, made his way to him.
“I’ve never seen her so angry,” he sighed. “Though the bastard had it coming.”
Hadrian didn’t understand and it must have shown on his face.
“My sister has always been the most powerful in the family and my uncle has hated her for it,” Iv sighed. “For as long as she’s been alive, he’s made it a point to abuse her for it. It started out with just words but as her power grew, so too did his violence. I would come home to her beaten and bleeding sometimes while others I would find her locked in a cage. You cannot see her scars, she hides them well. Go to her, please. She needs the both of you but I think Draco is too stunned to move. Please go to her.”
Hadrian looked at Iv then. Sadness lurked deep within at what Vi had been through. He understood then that Iv was begging him to stop her from doing something else irreparable. So with a small nod he made his way to her. He put his hand on her shoulder. She turned to him. When she saw it was him all the fight seemed to leave her and she stumbled into him and promptly passed out. Hadrian scooped her into his arms and looked at the gathered adults.
“Are we needed here? Or can we go?” Hadrian practically growled.
“I believe their bond is still settling and I’m fairly certain that she hasn’t fed since last night,” Iv told the gathered adults.
“You may go, but I expect to see all of you before dinner,” the man behind Dumbledore’s desk, who must have been her father, told them dismissively.
Hadrian bowed his head to hide his sneer. He turned, Vi still in his arms, and made his way back to the door. Iv stopped him before leaving.
“I’ll be by later to check on you,” he whispered out of the side of his mouth.
Hadrian inclined his head and nudged Draco, who was still in the same spot too stunned to speak.
“Drach, our mate needs us,” he whispered. “Now is not the time to be forgetting that.”
Draco looked at him then and his eyes widened at Vi’s unconscious form in his arms.
“Who did this to her,” he whispered.
Hadrian didn’t answer because he wasn’t sure if she had done this to herself or not.
“Who. Did. This. To. Her?” Draco growled, his voice getting louder and his form changing as his anger grew.
“Calm yourself, Drach” Hadrian growled. “Our mate has exhausted her magick and is in need of blood.”
“We’ll take our leave then,” Draco spat at the gathered adults. “Do not bother coming by later, you will not be welcomed in Slytherin or our room. I doubt you will be welcomed in our lives following this but should you apologize, perhaps you might be able to be a part of the lives of any grandchildren you might have.”
Draco then turned and led Hadrian out of the office.
