"I don't know my way around a woman, but I do know how to handle a Majin."
Levi's words sent a shiver down the woman's spine, but this time it wasn't because of excitement. Utterly surprised, she tried casting her demonic spell, but it was too late. A mirror chain formed around her, chaining every bit of her movement.
The woman tried to get out but felt extremely weak. She saw more than one Levi wriggle like air in the desert. "How did you manage to—"
Levi didn't let her finish and punched her in the gut, knocking her unconscious as she fell to her knees and her face to the ground. Levi patted the central eye on his shoulder and complimented it,
"Good job."
It had been twenty minutes since Levi followed this woman, and the central eye had already started casting its debuff. The woman didn't notice any difference, and when the effect finally took place, Levi took the opportunity.
Levi kneeled, and started checking the woman's pockets.
'I could kill her, but I still have no idea how to deal with these devils properly.'
As he was thinking about what to do with the woman, he felt two presences staring at him. Turning his head, he looked at them and sighed, 'It would have been better if the Majins had arrived instead of you two.'
Eliza and Kiara, both under their disguises, looked at Levi. Their eyes and mouths were wide open due to shock.
After Kiara formed somewhat of a plan with Levi, she told Eliza about the whole situation, not mentioning anything about Levi. Together they informed the city guards and other Awakeners. Eliza wanted to stay and help, but Kiara didn't want to put her in danger. Her first priority was Eliza's safety, even at the cost of a thousand lives.
As Kiara was escorting Eliza out of the city, even after Eliza wanted to help, they noticed Levi. Eliza at first frowned and looked away until his sudden behaviour change caught her eye. The way he moved and touched the woman made her think.
'What a creep, and then you try to put a kind face in front of people you know. A pathetic human like you doesn't deserve to—'
As Eliza was cursing in her mind, they saw Levi take the woman into the alley. Eliza didn't care and decided to walk away, but Kiara knew that the woman wasn't ordinary.
"What's wrong?"
Eliza asked the dazed Kiara, who didn't answer and quietly walked towards the alley. It took them a minute to reach there, and within a minute, they saw the woman on the ground and Levi's hand inside her pocket.
Eliza quickly walked towards Levi and slapped him so hard the sound echoed throughout the whole alley. She grabbed his collar and pulled him,
"You filth. Seducing a woman and then knocking her out so you could steal from her. There is a boundary of being low, and you not only cross the boundary but seem to forget about right and wrong. I was wrong about you. I thought you didn't deserve to be in the academy. No, I was wrong; you don't deserve to be anywhere in this world."
Eliza cursed her heart out, but seeing Levi unfazed, pissed her off even more. Before she could slap him again, Kiara separated the two. She didn't separate them earlier because she wanted to know why Eliza was so obsessed with Levi, but Eliza misunderstood the incident too much.
"My lady, you got it wrong."
She pointed at the woman.
"That is a Majin."
"Huh?" Eliza looked at Levi and the woman again. She didn't sense any sort of demonic aura from her body, mainly because of their rank difference, and Kiara also had no reason to lie. For confirmation, she looked at Kiara, who just nodded.
"I shouldn't. I just thought you—"
Eliza stuttered. She realized her mistake, and the things she said weren't something one should hear for saving lives.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
Levi just shook his head and felt the tingling sensation on his cheek. He walked past Eliza and talked with Kiara. "She won't be getting up for an hour or so, but there are still six of them left. Once they realize their ally is missing, they could do something rash, so it might be best to deal with the others while hiding her somewhere."
Kiara nodded in agreement. While escorting Eliza, she did manage to scout out the location of the Majins just from her senses alone. Though she couldn't pinpoint the location. She planned to inform the guards once Eliza was in a safe location, but the situation seemed more dire.
"I know the location of three. Two of them were up north and the other two were on the east side. Do you have any info on the others?" She asked Levi, who had his hand on his cheek. It wasn't a weak slap.
"I too know, but the ones I know were also on the east side. That leaves two that we still haven't found." Kiara peeked out of the alley and noticed some guards.
"I will inform them about the guards' location. If possible, I need to move too, but—" She looked at Eliza, whom she had to protect. But escorting Eliza and then dealing with those Majins would take a lot of time. For some reason, she felt Eliza would be safe around Levi, but with what happened between them, it wouldn't be the best idea to leave these two alone.
No other Awakener was in the city. Most of them were stationed to protect other regions where the nobles were celebrating. Even the viscount of Uran wasn't here to celebrate with his people. So Kiara was the strongest force present and whom Levi could rely on.
Kiara moved to the side and took out a pure white ball. Soon, the ball glowed into a blue hue, and Levi caught a glimpse of a man with red hair and red eyes just like Eliza.
'I need to get one of those mana communication balls.'
Kiara started speaking in a language Levi didn't understand, but he did know Kiara's plan had changed. After their call finished, Kiara scratched her head. She passed the white ball to Levi. "If anything happens, recall my face by pouring your mana into the ball. And don't try anything funny with the miss." And then she whispered, "Sorry for what she did. She hasn't been feeling the best, and good job on getting the Majin."
She then turned to Eliza and grasped both her shoulders. "I am sorry for leaving young miss, but the Majins are a real threat. The lord wants me to deal with it, so for a while, can you stay with him?"
Eliza smiled at her and nodded. Kiara carried the fallen Majin on her shoulder, and soon both blended into the crowd, disappearing completely from sight.
'Hmmm…the awkwardness is suffocating.' Levi looked at Eliza, who was looking away from him with a straight face, though some emotions had been hidden in them. With the corner of her eye, she looked at Levi and the five-finger mark on his
right cheek.
She clenched her fist and went to Levi's side. Stuttering, she said, "So-Sor-S-Sorry." She knew her mistake and knew the right thing to do, but her heart didn't want to.
Levi didn't speak back and kept his focus on controlling his lesser eye. Seeing Levi unfazed made Eliza have mixed emotions. She didn't know if he deliberately ignored her or was just like this. She didn't say anything after that, as both stood there for an hour without doing anything. Soon Kiara returned, breaking the ice.
"We successfully managed to capture six of the Majins, without any trouble." The Majins did retaliate, but the sheer number of guards and the ambush didn't give the Majins the time to attack nor unleash the devil inside.
"But one of them is missing. We scouted the entire city, but nothing came up. However, Majin is still inside the city. The viscount has been reported on the incident, and the stronger allies will come and guard the area until we get the last one."
The incident was resolved without any casualties, though Levi felt something was off.
Levi had scouted the whole area as well with the lesser eye but didn't find the last Majin. He had momentarily managed to sense one of them at the start. But the Majin must have felt Levi's skill and didn't enter his range and went into hiding.
'I know that person is only a Brand, but that person's senses are abnormal. Being able to hide under so many radars, even from Kiara, needs some serious abilities, but what if that person is—'
Levi's eyes widened. What he just theorized had the highest chance of being true. "Shit."
Hearing Levi curse, Kiara couldn't help but ask, "What? Is something wrong?"
"The remaining one." Levi looked at Kiara and passed the mana communication ball back, "It isn't a Majin. A demon has entered the city."
Kiara and Eliza both glanced at each other and back at Levi. His serious tone spoke enough truth. "What makes you say that?"
Levi shook his head, "I can't say for sure because I am guessing as well, but no Majin has such sneaking skills. Either it's a demon or a higher-ranking Majin. And the latter is the least probable one."
Levi's guess did make sense. Demons were the most proficient race in terms of sneaking. His central and lesser eyes were enough to prove. Though Kiara didn't panic.
"Even if it's a demon, we don't need to worry. If it could do something, it would have done it. It has probably escaped, knowing its situation. However, a demon easily entering a city is an issue. Though a guess if it did happen, the city needs to be investigated properly."
Levi also believed the same. And even if it attacked, the Awakeners would arrive soon. "Ok then, I will get going."
Levi waved at the two girls and walked out of the alley like nothing happened.
"Levi. Who are you?" Kiara wondered. At first, she thought of him just as Eliza's classmate. And now, with what he just showcased, with the Majin he knocked and his composure, really made Kiara question if he was just a normal person he tried portraying.
Levi didn't answer and just blended with the crowd.
Kiara let out a small chuckle. "That guy, he must be popular in school."
He is popular but not the way Kiara thought and Eliza being the culprit behind it. Eliza just walked out of the alley, and Kiara followed holding Eliza's hand. Just from that silence, she knew, never to talk about Levi ever in front of her ever again.
