CHAPTER 32: A New Class

*Knock* *Knock*

"Who is it?"

"It's me, Levi. I am here to join your class, Professor."

Levi then didn't get any answer for five minutes.

"Professor?"

The door to the room opened. The professor was wearing a lab coat and most of it was covered in blood. His hair was ruffled, he looked really pale and those bags under his eyes made him look like an overworked salaryman….he was one.

'He didn't look like this at the hospital.'

"Come on in ."

Levi entered the room. The smell of blood and drugs filled his nose and it irritated him. The room wasn't a mess like he imagined but it was too cramped with books, beakers and other equipment. The office was larger compared to Fiona's and there was even an additional room attached to it.

"I didn't think you would be the one to apply to my class."

Levi pulled a chair and sat there like an obedient student would.

"I am interested in human anatomy. It is fascinating to me how the human body works."

Ryan gave a weak smile and nodded in agreement.

"Finally someone who understands my intentions. It is not just about casting a healing magic and saving someone. This goes far to deeper levels and understanding our body can elevate your healing capabilities."

Levi looked around and didn't see other students. It was already time for the class but not a single soul was in the room except the two of them and some dead animal in a jar.

"Professor, Where are the other students?"

"Oh. You are the only student in my class for now."

'What?'

Levi was shocked cause Professor Ryan was one of the best healers in the academy, not the entire world. HIs skills were so good that even the elves who were better at healing than humans, recognised Ryan as one of the best healers to have ever lived.

'Every healer's dream is to one day learn from Professor Ryan. It doesn't make sense that nobody joined his class.'

Ryan took out a book and put it in front of Levi.

"Many students joined my class at first but when they realised I didn't teach about healing and about the human anatomy, they pulled out. My healing techniques aren't something easy that can be learned by mass learning. It needs dedication and basic fundamentals. Those students ran away without even getting halfway through the first class."

Levi also wanted to learn how to heal. This would be crucial for him in future battles but if Ryan didn't teach it, there was no need for him to join the class.

But it also wouldn't hurt him to learn something new and maybe he could slowly ask Ryan to teach him something.

"Honestly, I too am the same as the students but I do believe learning about our body is fundamental to mastering the art of healing."

Ryan was impressed with his answers.

"Good mindset. Now take the book that I just gave you and once you finish it summarise it for me. You have 15 minutes."

Levi nodded and started turning the pages. It was a short book with twenty pages. He read through all of it within eight minutes but didn't understand most of it. There were a lot of medical terms and Levi had never studied medicine even in his previous life.

'I only got a gist of it.'

This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.

Once the fifteen minutes was over Levi closed the book and Ryan looked serious.

"If you answer this question, I will teach you otherwise you will be kicked out."

"Ok."

"Then tell me, what was the main point of this book?"

Ryan wrote that book specifically to test students. All of them gave up without even getting through the first five pages. Levi did read all of it but even a kid could easily read it. He wanted someone who had good insight and passion towards healing.

"There were a lot of words that didn't make sense to me and also a lot of stuff to memorise. The placement of our bones, the structure of our muscles and the composition of our organs. It is quite hard to retain that information but memorising them can be crucial for healers."

Ryan nodded. He was neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with the answer.

'Generic answer. I don't think he is ready to learn.'

Levi didn't stop there.

"But that is not the most important aspect of healing."

"What is it then?"

"In my opinion and from the book, I believe healing means to connect. Our body is made of a connection of atoms, cells, and tissues. When we are injured these parts are destroyed. If we manage to revive these cells and connect them, then that is healing. It is necessary to learn our own anatomy so we know how our body works to keep us alive. It is healing itself daily without our own conscience. As healers, we need to find a balance between these components. It is not about if the heart is more important than the brain and vice versa. It's about how we can make these work together in synergy and heal ourselves."

Levi finished speaking. He looked at Ryan staring at him with his mouth open.

'I didn't expect that answer from him. Every word he spoke was on point…no he elaborated it even better than I could.'

He closed his moved and looked at Levi's calm face.

'What a talent.'

"That was a good answer. You can be in my class."

Levi bowed as he expressed his gratitude.

"Thank you, professor."

"No. you deserve it. I also will teach you the basics of healing…..my way of healing."

'Yes.'

Levi got what he wanted. He wanted to be taught by Ryan because of his healing techniques. There was a single cutscene in the game that showed how Ryan healed the wounded. Gold strings would emerge from his hand and the string moved to heal. Levi tried it with Brian but if backfired.

'I already can produce strings. This might be easier than I thought.'

Ryan started teaching him and it wasn't easier than he thought.

Levi left the class after one hour of continuous scolding and teaching. He didn't know Ryan would be this strict.

'My theory was a bust as well.'

Levi's plan was to use the silk he produced to heal but it wouldn't work. Those were ordinary silk without any healing properties and even if he imbued healing mana in the silk it would waste a lot more mana and the healing process would be dangerous.

But, the good thing was he learned many things as well and Professor asked him to visit and train with him later in the evening.

Right now, he was headed to the management department to do his job. When he entered the office, Mr Dave his boss smiled and hugged Levi. He pulled Levi made him sit in his chair and put a ton load of paper on his desk.

"You don't know how much we suffered in your absence."

The rest of the staff nodded in agreement. Levi did finish his work before taking a leave but more work piled up cause the rest couldn't finish it.

Levi sighed. It was a good thing and a bad thing that everybody in the office was relying on him.

'If we work like this soon, fatigue will be the death of you all.'

The main problem was that most of them didn't know how to sort data and work as a team. Levi did have the advantage coming from the age of the Internet but teamwork was crucial in any field.

However, he couldn't just stand up and scold everybody for their inefficient techniques. That would make things even worse. He needed to do it subtly.

Levi finished his part of the work within an hour but didn't tell the boss about it. He took a paper from his own work and headed to one of his senior's tables.

"Mr Mark. I quite didn't understand this here."

Mark looked at Levi and pointed out how to do it.

'Like I thought. They do not think logically.'

Now Levi looked at Mark's work and pointed out if they could make the reports in a certain way. He didn't tell it directly and let Mark think on his own.

'Wait! If I do this won't I will be able to organise it better.'

Mark then threw away his previous written documents and started to write new ones. Levi then moved on and did the same with fifty other employees. Doing so took three hours and his shift was over. He handed his report to Dave who again complimented him. Levi also took his pay for the day and headed out.

Time flew by for the employees today. They felt their brain work a bit different from usual. Not to a substantial level but they felt something starting to change in the way they think.

Once all of their shift was over, they handed their work to the boss and headed home. Dave sighed and started looking through the documents.

'Levi's report is so understandable and compact and these guys' reports are a mess.'

He started flipping through the pages and noticed that their document was different this time.

'It is worse than Levi's but is somewhat easier to read and organise than usual and all of them made little but noticeable improvements.'

Even Dave started to unconsciously learn from what his employees had written.

'Now that I think about it. Levi was roaming through everybody's desk asking them questions. I didn't think much about it but did he do something.'

He shook his head and laughed.

'I am overthinking. He is brilliant but not to this level where he can command and teach all these people in such an efficient manner. They will return to their usual way of working from tomorrow.'
