CHAPTER 19: The Silkworm's Demise

CHAPTER 19: The Silkworm's Demise

After the attack, the academy closed for one week. The villains targeted only the first-years the academy didn't conduct classes for the seniors as well. Some of the buildings needed to be renovated and because Gabriel and Jack reported about the bombs to one of the professors, none of the buildings fell down except one of them. Roman had to organise a press conference. He said everything that happened except about Levi. The academy promised to increase the security even more though it was not that the security of the academy was loose, the villains had a demon on their side and the silk it produced easily, bypassing any of the defence mechanisms.

These types of incidents were hot topics for new agencies. They would often try to over-exaggerate the information.

"Are our children really safe in the academy?"

"Has the Ascension academy lost its touch?"

"The academy had been slacking off."

The academy could sue them but it could backfire as it would seem like them trying to defend the allegations. Nobody on the academy's side died. Fiona, especially was praised for her heroics, though she never admitted nor liked all those praises, cause she knew none of this would have been possible without Levi.

'I actually managed to do it.'

Levi was reading a newspaper on his hospital bed. The whole incident raised some questions about the academy but in the end, nobody died except the villains.

He looked to his right and saw a small red-collar pendant with his face on it. It was the Mask of Ifrit. Once the mask was taken off it would shrink into a small red pendant with some engravings on it. Levi held onto that when he fell from the building so the academy thought that it must have been something important of him and kept it next to him. However, they didn't let them have the items that he stole from the villains stuffed in his pockets.

He tried getting up from the bed but one of the healer's assistants stopped him. The assistant was tasked with looking after Levi and reporting his condition. Levi's recovery speed shocked him. 30% of his injuries were healed. Mainly because the best healer in the academy treated him and partly because of [Essence].

"Umm. Can I go outside for a while? I only want to take a breather."

The assistant then provided him with a stick to support him. Levi still had difficulties walking properly. The assistant sat on the chair in the garden, while Levi just strolled around, until he reached the spot where Fiona "killed' the silkworm demon.

Levi activated the Search skill. His sense expanded over 50 meters as he slowly checked through the trees for something. After two minutes of searching and his mana running out, he found what he was looking for.

He casually walked to one of the particular trees and saw a white, silky cocoon on the tree... When the assistant looked away for a moment, he moved his hand and smacked the cocoon. Then a message appeared on his status window.

-Congratulations on killing the silkworm demon.

-You have received the title "The Silkworm's Demise."

—> Description:

-You have killed an A-rank demon and received a new title. The title will stay with you until your death.

- Now like the demon, your body can produce silk.

Mana will be consumed while making the silk. Depends on the length of the silk.

The strength of the silk depends on your rank. Currently, the silk you produce is as strong as a nylon thread.

Levi took a deep breath in and let this moment sink in him. In the game, this same thing would happen. The silkworm would leave a part of it to grow before it was killed by Fiona. Later on in the game, a villain would stumble upon the silkworm at its larvae stage and accidentally step foot on it. The villain received this title and caused a lot of problems for the heroes.

Levi was lucky that the silkworm was still in the cocoon stage. He decided to steal this power cause none of the 'ten' heroes had it in the game and not did Fiona. There were a lot of these powers that Levi could grab but most of them were for the heroes and he did not want to weaken them. He could steal from the villain but those powers were in such places that he couldn't currently explore with his strength.

In the game, once you chose a hero, then you could only get the powers made for them. It was just a matter of how fast you could get them and defeat the final boss. But now his arsenal was not bound to a character.

After such a battle his rank grew and his art was now at expert level. His progress rate was out of the ordinary but nothing that the world had not seen. Irene was already at this level when she was 10.

The one-week break ended and the classes resumed. Levi was discharged from the hospital though Professor Ryan strictly ordered him to not use mana for a few weeks. He also had to go to Ryan for weekly checkups.

Levi noticed some changes to his dorm. They added a loft in his room. Now, the apartment looked the same as the one he had back on Earth. He changed into his uniform and headed to his classes. Before he made his way to the room, Fiona had asked him to meet the headmaster.

Levi was looking at the map of the academy in the lobby, trying to find the headmaster's room in such a big area. Many other students passing by him, stared at him.

"I never knew such a stud was in the academy."

"Yeah! Did he just transfer to the academy?"

"Go ask his name."

"No, you go."

But one of the students recognised Levi from the scar on his face.

"Wait! That is the class A9's freak. There is a rumour that he made that scar to look cool and he is a commoner as well."

"Oh!"

Disappointment was written on their faces but they still couldn't stop looking at Levi. Before his hair covered half of his face but his hair burned while fighting that villain. Professor Ryan cut the burnt hair and gave him a new look. It was unbelievable how much a haircut changed a person but not all of it was the cause of the hair. Now that Seiko had transmigrated as Levi, the way he carried himself and his attitude made him even more charming.

He found the room and headed there. Once he reached it, he knocked twice before entering.

*Knock* *knock*

"Come in."

Levi opened the door and immediately felt a high dense of mana in the room. Bookshelves filled the room, and a sweet aroma of tea soothed Levi's nose. There were pictures of the previous headmaster on the wall and the sunlight lit up the whole room.

A man with blue eyes and black hair behind his desk sipped his tea and smiled at Levi. On the other side was a familiar face looking straight at him with shining blue eyes. Levi avoided making eye contact with her and greeted Roman. He put a hand on his chest and bowed.

'

"Good morning, headmaster."

"Good morning, Levi. Have a seat."

Levi walked to the table and pulled a chair slightly away from Irene. She noticed it but didn't think much about it.

"Would you like some tea?"

"No. Thank you."

Roman looked at them both and smiled.

"First of all, I am glad that both of you are okay. The incident was unprecedented and something you did not have to face. If you still have any problems then feel free to consult with me or with Professor Fiona."

Students could get trauma from these types of incidents and it would be good if they opened up to others. Though these two were different. Levi didn't feel anything and Irene vowed to train harder.

"Now to the main point. As you all know, I didn't reveal what happened to you except your guardians.Revealing such would create even more problems. However, if you want to then I can announce your achievements."

He looked at Levi before saying the last line.

"I am happy with the result."

Irene too nodded her head. She tried to sneak glances at Levi but couldn't do it.

'I still have to thank him.'

"Both of you managed to stop a villain, a quite high level at that. I will provide you rewards for your achievements, not from the academy's side but from my own accord. Though I advice you not to discuss about this with anyone."

"Thank you, headmaster."

Irene and Levi said at the same time.

"No thank you. Now you can go back to your classes, except Levi. I still have something to ask you."

Irene didn't say anything further and left the room.

Once she left the room, the headmaster's demeanour changed. His happy gaze changed into a doubtful one.

"Now Levi, tell me how did you kill all those villains?"
