Chapter 6-4: The Warning

After waking up a few hours earlier, Moxie had been helping the sisters with their garden, but his mind remained fixated on the strange dream that had haunted him. As he watered the plants, the image of that dark, shadowy figure lingered. Something felt off, something deeper than just the nightmare. He needed to act.

Walking into the diner, Moxie approached Auforus, who was sipping his coffee. “Get the sisters and meet me at the table,” Moxie said, his tone serious.

Auforus looked like he wanted to ask questions, but the intensity in Moxie's eyes said it all. He simply nodded, setting down his cup and heading to gather the others.

Stepping outside, Moxie closed his eyes and unleashed his aura, sending out a message across the city. It wasn’t long before Insanity, who was preparing food with Calypso, felt the familiar pressure. He paused, closing his eyes to decipher the message, before turning to Calypso. "We’ve got to go. Moxie’s calling us."

Without a word, Calypso was ready. The two dashed toward the diner, arriving to see the others already gathered at a table inside. Moxie, Auforus, and the sisters were seated, waiting.

As Insanity and Calypso sat down, Auforus leaned back and smirked. "I didn’t forget to put the 'closed' sign up," he said lightly, trying to break the tension.

Moxie gave a small nod of thanks before standing, his expression grim. "We need to talk," he began, his voice low but firm. "This planet, and the entire galaxy... it's in danger. And we might not have much time."

The group exchanged confused glances, but Insanity’s expression darkened as he locked eyes with Moxie. "He’s telling the truth," Insanity confirmed, knowing Moxie well enough to sense the gravity of the situation. "He wouldn’t say this if it wasn’t real."

Calypso, now worried, leaned in. "What kind of danger? Why are you telling us this?"

Moxie’s face tightened. "The Sins," he said, his voice almost a growl. "They’re not just concepts—they're real. They’re the embodiment of every negative emotion and act. And they're coming."

A stunned silence filled the diner as everyone processed the weight of Moxie's words. Moxie continued, "We need to prepare, and we need a plan."

He began pointing at each of them. "Insanity, Calypso, Afuwafu—you’ll be group one. Auforus and Xero, you’re group two. Snow and I will be group three."

Everyone nodded, taking in the new roles, but Moxie raised a hand. "Listen, this isn't a game. The Sins are powerful, and we can't just trap them. We need more—strategy, strength, and unity."

As the meeting broke up, Moxie scooped up Snow and placed her on his back. "Let’s go," he said, carrying her out the door. Together, they began moving from store to store, gathering supplies they thought might help in their fight. Snow, ever curious, started mixing various chemicals, trying to concoct something dangerous and useful.

Passersby looked at the duo, smiling at what appeared to be an older brother taking his little sister shopping. But Moxie’s mind was elsewhere. Their comments, so innocent and light-hearted, reminded him of Liza’s death, a memory that weighed heavily on his heart. His sadness gave way to anger, fueling his resolve.

As they moved through the city, Moxie clenched his fists, vowing silently to protect those he cared for. The Sins were no small threat, but he had faced impossible odds before. This time, though, he wasn’t just fighting for himself—he was fighting for all of them.
