Chapter 2-3: The Divine Pursuit

As Michael launched his first attack, the ground trembled, and the air crackled with divine energy. Moxie, realizing the danger, acted quickly. He grabbed both Insanity and Liza without a second thought and bolted from the incoming barrage of attacks. Insanity, however, wasn’t having it.

"Put me down!" Insanity shouted, furious at the idea of running. "I can take him on! Let me fight Michael!"

Both Moxie and Liza looked at him like he had lost his mind. "You’re insane!" Liza snapped, clutching her bow tightly, ready to assist. Moxie, though usually more calm, also shouted back, "You can't be serious! We’d be dead in seconds!"

The trio bickered back and forth as Moxie sprinted through the snow-covered terrain, weaving through the mountains. However, their argument came to a sudden halt as one of Michael’s angelic knights closed the distance, appearing right behind them. The knight’s gleaming sword swung toward Moxie’s legs, aiming to stop him in his tracks. Moxie reacted instinctively, dodging the blade and, with a swift motion, counterattacked. The force of his strike sent the knight’s head flying through the air.

Michael, hovering above, witnessed the scene unfold, his gaze locking onto the fallen knight's body. His calm demeanor evaporated, replaced by a burning fury. “That was murder!” he roared, his voice echoing through the mountains. “You’ll pay for your crimes against Heaven!”

With a wave of his hand, Michael commanded his entire angelic army to descend upon them. The skies darkened as winged soldiers, armed with divine weapons, rained down like a storm. Moxie’s heart raced. He knew they were in trouble.

As he kept running, Liza tried her best to slow the army down, firing arrows at the approaching angels with precision. One by one, her arrows struck their marks, sending several knights crashing into the ground. But for every angel she took down, more replaced them, too many to handle alone.

“We can’t keep this up!” Moxie shouted, his breaths heavy. The weight of Michael’s army was overwhelming, and despite their efforts, the trio was slowly being cornered.

Liza’s quiver was running low, and Insanity’s frustration grew as the situation became more dire. They were being hunted by Heaven itself, and escape seemed nearly impossible.
