Chapter 12-4: Moxie’s Mission in Heaven

Heaven—a peaceful place, where children ran around joyfully, freshly welcomed after their deaths. People were happy, blissfully at peace in the afterlife. Yet amidst the serenity, one figure stood out—a cloaked man, moving with purpose through the heavenly streets. It was Moxie.

He wandered through the divine realm, seeking something crucial—information about his past ability, his long-forgotten *heavenly virtue*. He searched tirelessly, hoping to find anything that would point him in the right direction.

As he walked, his gaze fell upon a familiar sight: Liza, laughing and playing with children. Moxie paused for a moment, but the sight only deepened the mystery of how he had managed to come to Heaven in the first place.

Hours earlier, before crossing into the divine realm, Moxie had told Auforus to watch over his body as it slowly decayed, allowing his soul to enter Heaven. Auforus had protested vehemently, calling the plan dangerous and risky. But Moxie had been resolute. He didn't care—he had to go.

Now, back in the present, Moxie’s spirit drifted through Heaven until he found something: a towering golden library, shining like the knowledge of the ages had been condensed into one place. Intrigued, Moxie entered, scanning the endless rows of books, tomes of divine history and wisdom. He found one in particular that caught his attention—a book about Adam.

The story began as expected, recounting the familiar tale of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. But then, something strange happened as he continued reading. The story took a darker turn, with Adam and Eve experiencing something they had never felt before—a sensation that even the God of Creation had never mentioned.

Adam, in a panic, called out to a shadowy figure lurking behind a tree. A voice, formal yet youthful, responded from the darkness, apologizing for not revealing this sooner. Adam clung to Eve, only to realize she was no longer in his arms. In her place stood the figure.

The figure, stepping out from the shadows, reassured Adam, calling him a gentleman for holding a “child.” Adam's heart raced, but before he could process what had happened, the figure appeared in front of him again, impossibly close. "Calm down," the figure had said.

Moxie continued reading, but as he approached the revelation of the figure's name, something horrifying occurred. His soul, his very essence, felt as if it were dying. Even in the afterlife, Moxie felt blood dripping from his mouth and eyes, his body wracked with pain. He blinked, but all he could see was darkness. Shaking off the shock, he quickly hid the book and continued his search for the *heavenly virtue*, burying his thoughts about the mysterious figure and its strange power.

For what seemed like half an hour, he read through ancient texts, his mind racing, searching for answers. An angelic guard approached Moxie, looking him over curiously. "You look familiar," the guard remarked.

Moxie nodded, changing his appearance in an instant, his face morphing into something entirely different. "I’m new here," he said calmly. The guard seemed satisfied and motioned for Moxie to follow him.

However, as Moxie trailed behind, he felt a presence—a pressure unlike anything else. Something familiar yet deeply unsettling. His instincts flared, and without hesitation, he created a clone of himself to distract the guard while he raced toward the source of the aura.

He found himself standing before a strange structure, something that was both a prison and a castle. Without hesitation, Moxie passed through the walls, phasing into the heart of the fortress. There, bathed in a faint glow, was what he had been searching for—a yellow orb.

A smile spread across Moxie’s face. He reached out, his hand clasping the orb just as the guards around him noticed his presence. Dumbfounded, they stared at him before shouting orders. But it was too late. Moxie had already accomplished his mission.

With a single thought, Moxie teleported back to his body, back to the mortal plane. The pain was unbearable, but it didn’t matter. He had it—the *heavenly virtue*.

However, his mind returned to the book about Adam. That figure—the one who had spoken to Adam in the garden. Something about its name lingered in Moxie’s thoughts. The letters swirled in his mind, and finally, he whispered the name aloud.

"M... authorM..." he muttered, his body drenched in sweat.
