Chapter 11-4: The Sins' Gathering

The room was dimly lit, with a large, imposing table at its center. Each of the seven sins had their place, and one by one, they gathered for their routine meeting. Silence filled the room until Envy, unable to resist his usual antics, sneered across the table at Gluttony.

"You've been looking bloated lately, Gluttony," Envy hissed with a venomous grin, his words dripping with malice. "Maybe you should stop devouring everything in sight for once."

As expected, Gluttony grunted, his massive form shifting uncomfortably. "At least I don't spend my time sulking over everyone else's power," he spat back.

The exchange triggered a familiar tension in the room. Lust, always the mediator in these childish spats, spoke with a soothing, calm voice. "Enough. We don't have time for—"

Before she could finish, Envy and Gluttony cut her off simultaneously, their words sharp and crude. "Shut it, you bitch," they snarled.

Greed leaned back in his chair with a sly grin, whistling softly to himself. He knew what was coming next. Lust's eyes narrowed dangerously, and with a quick movement, she stood up and struck both Envy and Gluttony with a single blow. The two recoiled, rubbing their bruised faces as Lust crossed her arms under her chest, staring them down.

Meanwhile, Sloth was sprawled on the ground nearby, completely oblivious to the chaos, his face buried in his pillow. He had been asleep before the meeting even started and hadn't bothered to join the others at the table. Wrath, irritated beyond belief, banged his fist on the table, shaking the entire room.

"Sit up, Sloth! Our leader, Pride, is about to enter," Wrath growled.

Despite his shout, Sloth remained unmoved, lost in a deep, peaceful slumber. Wrath was about to stomp over and wake him when the room suddenly grew heavy. A suffocating pressure descended upon everyone, freezing them in place. The overwhelming presence was unmistakable—it could only be Pride.

The door opened, and Pride walked in with a slow, deliberate pace. His aura was so powerful that even the normally fearless Wrath was forced to sweat a little. Envy, Gluttony, Lust, and Greed were visibly shaken, beads of sweat forming on their foreheads, though they tried their best to hide their discomfort. Everyone except Sloth, who continued to sleep soundly on the floor, oblivious to it all.

Pride took his seat at the head of the table, his expression one of serene arrogance. With a voice that sounded almost childlike, he addressed the group. "How did your missions go?"

In unison, the sins gave their formal responses, each claiming success in their tasks. Wrath, still irritated, pointed toward the ground behind Sloth’s empty chair. "As you can see, Sloth didn’t even bother showing up."

Pride’s gaze drifted down to where Sloth lay, and a small, amused smile appeared on his face. "Ah, Sloth," he chuckled, as if addressing a beloved pet. "Let him be. He did well enough."

The room fell silent as Pride began assigning their next set of missions, each varying in difficulty. As always, Envy and Greed eagerly took the planet-destroying tasks, their eyes gleaming with anticipation. Lust, as usual, was open to anything, and Gluttony simply chose a random universe to devour. Wrath, true to his nature, selected the mission to destroy an entire universe, his eyes burning with rage-fueled determination.

"And that's all for today," Pride said, standing up. He began to leave, but the rest of the group seemed puzzled, their attention drawn back to Sloth. Lust, clearly frustrated, turned to Envy.

"Why does Pride coddle Sloth so much? He barely does anything, yet Pride treats him like a favorite son," Lust muttered under her breath.

Envy nodded in agreement, his own jealousy creeping through his voice. "It's ridiculous. He's lazy and contributes the least. Why does he get a pass?"

Wrath, normally one to ignore such discussions, couldn't help but feel a flicker of concern. Pride's favoritism toward Sloth had always baffled him. Still, the thought left his mind as Lust suddenly wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly from behind.

"Stop thinking so hard, Wrath," Lust cooed, resting her head against his arm.

Wrath's face turned red with anger, and he immediately tried to shove her off. "Get off me!" he bellowed, his voice echoing throughout the chamber. "Stop clinging to me like that!"

Lust only laughed, unfazed by his outburst, as the rest of the sins looked on. The meeting, like all the others, ended in chaos, with none of them fully understanding the weight of what was yet to come. Pride, however, simply smiled as he left the room, a hidden agenda lingering in his mind.
