“You guys are so cute!”
The mommy cat seemed to be warmed up to me now. I did end up feeding her some fresh fish I bought from the market.
Hehe, secret technique ‘win them over with food’ never fails!
The kittens are super playful. I’m not sure how old they are and cats aren’t good at keeping track of time.
I think I’m going to wait until they get a bit older before I offer to make them my familiars.
This has nothing to do with me wanting to play with baby kitties. That is completely separate.
The mother says they should be ready to start eating real food so my next trip out I’m going to buy special kitten food to help them grow extra strong.
When I first saw the babies, two of them looked perfectly healthy. One of them looked pretty sick and weak though.
The two healthy ones are an orange girl and a grey and peach girl.
The sick one is a pure white male. He looks like he is the runt. I’m going to give him extra attention and love.
Just to make sure he grows up big and strong, I even spent some of my divinity to bless him. My blessing isn’t worth much, especially to those who don’t pray to me. But for this little one, I’ll spend all my power to make sure he stays healthy.
I know I’m getting too attached. It’s only been three days after all. But I’ve been spending all my time with them and haven’t gotten much work done.
My presence at the shrine has started helping the grass to grow and be a bit less brown. Even the floor boards in the main room where I’ve been spending all my time with the kittens, have started to revert to a healthier state. They seem stronger and the rot I noticed when I first got here has receded from this room some.
I still have a lot to do. If I were to just spend all my time inside lounging around the house, the shrine might start to get a bit better, but that could take years. Even then the holes and missing pieces wouldn’t grow back.

The most my presence could do is remove the rot, strengthen the wood, and clean up the filth.
Even then it would be faster to just put in the actual work.
“Hello? Is anyone here?”
That sounds like the auntie from next door.
“Yes! I’m in here.”
“Oh dear! This place is just as bad as I remember it. You’re going to get sick with all the drafts blowing through here.”
“You don’t have to worry about that. Gods don’t get sick.”
“Haha, I suppose so. Still though, I can’t let you stay in a place like this. I would be arrested for child endangerment. Do you have any place you could stay?”
“Nope, I just moved to Japan. That’s not necessary. And besides, I’m much older than I look.”
“Oh my. I never did ask your age. I just assumed you were 16 like my grand daughter.”
“Well, my ID does say 16, but that was just a technicality. The agent I got my paperwork from wouldn’t believe I was an 83 year old god.”
“Oh, to be young and imaginative. When I was your age I always came up with the most fantastical games.”
“But aren’t I older than you?”
“You really know how to sweet talk an old woman. Tell me. How has your first few days at high school been?”
“High school?”
“Don’t tell me you haven’t enrolled yet.”
“I’ve never been to school. I learnt all I’ve ever needed to know as I needed it.”
“Oh no! I can’t have that. You need to enroll in school right away.”
“Aren’t I too old though?”
“I’ll send my grand daughter over to help enroll you tomorrow. This isn’t too far out of her way.”
“This sounds like a bother.” I’m not going to have any time to fix this place up.
“You don’t want to be arrested for truancy, do you?”
I’m starting to think this old granny is not so nice. I think she’s going to end up causing me more trouble than I originally anticipated.
