I thought that someone was supposed to come bother... I mean visit me today.

That old granny from next door said her grand daughter was going to stop by and bring me to her school to enroll.

It’s nearly one in the afternoon and nobody came.

I’m not complaining. It just doesn’t seem right.

Whatever. It not my problem.

I’ll just get to do some actual work around here.

I’m not going to get distracted by those cute babies.

Even though they will only be this age once.

Nope, I almost lost it there for a moment.

I guess the first thing I could work on is clearing out all the refuse and rubble. That should take a day.

Where am I going to put it?

I’ll have someone take it away to the dump. There are plenty of places I could hire around here.

It took me all day to gather up all the garbage from the shrine.

It didn’t take that long because I kept getting distracted by those cute baby kitties.

No, it would take anyone twice as long as myself. Because I have a god like endurance and super human strength, this surely took way less time than any normal human could do.

I found a duster and broom while I cleaned and a few other things that I could use around the shrine.

Yes, today was a productive day.

Tomorrow I need to go get more cat food and a few other things around town.

This place really needs furniture.

I still have enough saved up that this won’t be a problem but I need to get this shrine up and running again before I run out of funds.

I don’t need to eat or sleep hardly at all but I still like to eat good food and sleep in late. If I’m going to live here in Japan, I need to be self sufficient.

I’m going to go to bed now and sleep in tomorrow. I don’t have to leave the house early for any particular reason. Sleeping in is only natural.

I really need to get a good futon for my room. Sleeping on the floor with only a blanket is not fit for a god of a shrine.

Tomorrow will be a good day to go shopping.

I ended up waking up early even though I planned on sleeping in.

The kitties were awake early and I got my daily dose of cuteness before the sun even rose.

They are starting to look nice and healthy. If I had to guess I would say they are almost 8 weeks old. In another few weeks it should be alright to form a contract.

The kittens and momma kitty are already showing signs of high intelligence and understanding. Being around a divine being for a week or two will do that.

The kittens are going to be effected a lot more because they are still growing but even the mom has showed signs of becoming a familiar.

This is what it means to be a familiar to a god.

A familiar will acquire higher intelligence and a stronger body the longer it remains around its master.

If the master forms a contract with their familiar, the familiar will gain a portion of their masters power and abilities.

This also ties them to their master.

A bound familiar must obey any commandment given by their master and will feel the need to protect and serve them.

If the master dissolves the contract, the familiar will become a wandering spirit. It will be unable to be seen by humans and it will be vulnerable to any attacks.

There are spirits out there that eat familiars and if a familiar tries to harm a human, it is a gods duty to put it down.

I’ve learnt a lot over my 83 years being a god.

Sure, mostly I’ve been self taught, but I have met other gods and wandering spirits who have taught me what it means to be a god.

Mostly, just do what you want.

If you want to amass power, you need to gain worshipers.

Those gods with power tend to be in charge of large areas.

If you want to torment humans, you can. As long as you don’t interfere with other gods.

Most gods just choose to do the bare minimum to get by.

Our kind is pretty relaxed.

Just to be sure, I checked with the local gods in this area to see if it was okay to take over this shrine.

Everyone here seemed really nice.

They told me to just keep my head down and not cause too much trouble, but it was fine for me to have this shrine.

This shrine may not be much right now, but given time, I could make this a place worthy of a god.
