Chapter Five: New God Of The Old Shrine

Chapter Five: New God Of The Old Shrine

The past couple days have flown by.

I managed to clean most of the shrine and I even fixed the donation bin and polished the bell.

Next on my list is to fix the walls and roof. This is going to take a bit more work.

The walls won’t be too hard but getting on the roof and patching the hole is beyond my skill.

I may need to leave that to my familiars, but, if I don’t know how to do it they won’t either.

I guess I’m going to need to get a book on how to fix roofs.

A book on how to fix walls wouldn’t be a bad idea either.

While I’m at it a book on how to fix floors, fountains, and plumbing.

I may be able to save some money and just get a book on how to fix everything.

With the money I save I can get a few new manga to pass the time.

No... I need to save what I have until the shrine is fully functional.

I wonder what ever happened to the old granny and her grand daughter.

It doesn’t seem likely that they forgot me.

I hope nothing bad happened.

Awe... the orange kitten is super playful today.

Her sister is calm and shy like normal.

And their brother is... sleeping on my blankets.

He always seems to be right by my side.

I think he is going to make a good familiar.

His pretty white fur and his loyalty will make him the best choice for my attendant.

Mommy cat is always looking after her children and doting on them.

Having her around to look after me and the shrine is going to be a weight off my shoulders.

———

I’ve spent the last two days reading on how to fix the shrine.

Investing in a computer is my next project.

Today I think I’ll...

“Hello? Are you here, dear?”

“Yes, I’m in the main hall.”

“You certainly have made this place look like a shrine again. It’s nice to see it’s so well taken care of again. When I was a little girl I used to visit this shrine every New Years. This place always felt special to me.”

If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

“I hope I can do it justice.”

“How is school going? I hope my grand daughter is treating you well.”

“I haven’t gone yet. It seems like a bother when I have so many projects that I need to work on. As for your grand daughter, I haven’t met her.”

“What what that? She never came over to help you enroll?”

“Nope.”

“Oh, my. It looks like I need to have a talk with her mother.”

It’s interesting how she immediately believes me over her own grand daughter. That doesn’t seem like a good sign.

“If we rush over to the school now we should be able to enroll you before the end of the day. You could start classes next week.”

“Is this really necessary? I think a god going to high school is just asking for problems.”

“The school isn’t too far away. You also don’t need to worry about any school supplies. I have some things I can give you to help get you started.”

This old granny is going to be a real bother. I don’t think I can skip classes either. She already threatened to call the police on me.

*sigh*

“I’ll be right out.”

“Okay sweety. I’ll wait right outside.”

Such a bother...

*ding* *ding*

Huh? Is she ringing the bell?

*please watch over this little girl. I hope she has a good time at school and makes many friends.*

My first prayer!

And it had to be the old granny making such a hassle.

At least this prayer is easy enough to grant.

I just need to go to school and make a few friends.

I can’t shirk my responsibilities as a god now. If this is to be my first prayer than it’s my duty to make it happen.

If I don’t do this, people wouldn’t come and pray here. I couldn’t continue living as this gods shrine.

It’s still a bother.
