CHAPTER 509: THINGS HAVE TAKEN A NEW TURN
But soon, Olive couldn’t laugh anymore.
The three meals she had were all steamed and boiled dishes, so light that they lost their original taste.
“Honey, can you order a few spicy stir-fry dishes?” Olive asked cutely. Content © copyrighted by .
Alan deadpanned, “Pregnant woman can’t eat food that can upset the belly.”
Olive grumbled, “Then I can only eat this every day from now on?”
Alan indifferently said, “Pretty much. If you’re behaved, I can occasionally reward you with what you want to eat.”
Revenge. This was a blatant revenge. It had to be. Olive put down her chopsticks, “I’m not eating.”
“That won’t work. You’re now have one mouth to feed two people.” Alan was patient, picking up the chopsticks and putting it in her hand.
“How can you take care of pregnant woman like this? I ate anything when I was pregnant with Annie and she was born healthy.” She would be malnourished if she had to eat this way every day.
“But you had a problem,” Alan pointed out the point of the problem.
“That was an accident, okay.” It wasn’t a thrilling experience which she wanted.
“I’m avoiding any accidents that may happen to you now. Be good and eat more.” He scooped soup and some vegetables for her.
Missing Annie’s pregnancy period was actually a pity that he didn’t go through. Since there was an opportunity now that he couldn’t resist, he naturally had to make up for it.
Since they were here, they had to be safe. Maybe it was Alan’s fate to have this child. Since she wanted it, he would do what she wanted, watching her happily being a mother and he would protect her by his side at all times.
But now, he wanted to tease this woman.
Olive’s face had seriously turned bitter. “Don’t you know that pregnant woman’s mouth is pickier? You still choose these bland and tasteless food for me to eat. I don’t need to wait for the child be born, I’ll die from starving because of you first. Do you not welcome this child’s arrival at all? Little Hoyle, look, your daddy is abusing us.”
Alan was in between laughter and tears, “I’m doing this for your own good.”
“If so, you should let me eat happily. I want to eat hot pot now and ice cream. Take me, okay?” Olive boldly asked while swaying his arm.
“No,” Alan answered sternly. “You’ll heat up if you eat hot pot in such hot weather. Ice cream will cause diarrhea. If you’re not thinking for yourself, at least think for little Hoyle, right?”
He succeeded in stifling her fantasies on food. Olive reluctantly said, “Fine. You win.”
Stuffing her mouth, drinking the soup, and chewing the food hard—it was as if she had grudges with these food. It put Alan in a good mood that he stroked her hair as if petting a pet. “Now this is a good girl.”
“I want to go home,” Olive said solemnly, flatting her lips.
She could eat anything at home. If her parents knew that she was pregnant again, they would be extremely happy.
Her mother always hoped that she could have a baby again. One child was too lonely. Annie needed a companion. And Alan’s love for her was worthy of her having another baby for him.
Just as she just said that, a call from Mrs. Hoyle came.
Olive hesitated, but she picked it up after a moment. She politely said, “Hello, Mrs. Hoyle. Do you need something?”
“You guys are still in Jiangcheng, right?” Mrs. Hoyle asked indifferently. Actually, she knew from Aoba that they were still in Jiangcheng and hadn’t left. This question was actually just an opening.
“We’re currently are.”
“Come to Hoyle’s residence for dinner tonight. I have something to talk with you,” said Mrs. Hoyle straight up before hanging up the phone regardless of whether Olive agreed or not, as if it was an order.
Olive shrugged and said to Alan, “Do you dare to come with me to your mother’s murderous banquet?”
Alan laughed, “You dare to go to my own house, what’s there for me to be afraid? Well, I still have to be my wife’s strong backing, right?”
Olive sighed, “No wonder your mother doesn’t like me. The better you treat me, the more she doesn’t like me and finds me annoying.”
This was a certain fact that existed in Mrs. Hoyle now. Everyone could see it.
At the beginning, Olive had thought that it made the old lady unhappy because she had replaced Ophelia Meyer. After all, Ophelia Meyer was the best candidate to be her daughter-in-law, so she rejected her.
But then she discovered that after Ophelia’s true face was revealed, the old lady’s attitude towards her didn’t change much. She slowly realized that the better Alan treated her, it added Mrs. Hoyle’s dislike towards her. She was kind of like a jealous mother with a little bit of being unreasonable, unlike her usual intellectual and noble temperament.
Alan said, “As a mother, if she’s happy to see her son with her daughter-in-law aren’t harmonious and treated her daughter-in-law badly, then she had a problem.”
Olive didn’t know what the old lady was going to do to her again. She had no other way except for countering her moves. The old lady wasn’t a person who could be coaxed with little tricks, nor was she was easy to be touched by doing something. It wasn’t easy to open her well-fortified heart.
Originally, she hoped the child in her belly would be able to be exchanged with the old lady’s warmth. But judging by the old lady’s attitude in the hospital, she overreached herself.
So, when she went to the Hoyle’s residence, she didn’t hold too much hope and she prepared herself from being mentally attacked.
To face the old lady’s well-fortified heart, she had to build impenetrable defense to resist all kinds of cold curses that would be shot at any time. She couldn’t fall down before the old lady surrendered. She didn’t need the old lady to comply. She was satisfied enough to be able get along with her peacefully. But on this day, she had yet to see the dawn of hope.
Without hope, she wouldn’t be disappointed. But at some point in this life, some small surprises would fall into your arms, enough to make you secretly delighted for days.
For example, at this moment.
Olive looked at the different dishes on the table and smelled some mild scent of Chinese herb.
Ada stealthily leaned over to her ear and whispered, “Mother specially prepares it for you.”
Before Olive had time to digest the meaning behind her words, Mrs. Hoyle glared at Ada. Her eyes seemed to be saying that she talked too much.
The old lady’s mouth was as unforgiving as always, “Eat if you like it. Throw it if you don’t like it. You won’t be poisoned.”
Her words weren’t pleasant to the ears, but Olive could hear some gentleness. She smiled a little, “Mrs. Hoyle, can I take this as you’ve accepted the baby in my belly?”
“Don’t think just because I acknowledge the baby in your belly means I accept you too. It’s still too early,” Mrs. Hoyle snorted.
“I understand crystal clear.” She never expected the road of her and the old lady would go smoothly. Now that the old lady had agreed to accept the baby in her belly, for her, it was a step taken.
