CHAPTER 401 ENEMIES ARE DESTINED TO MEET
"Of course, I am. I was wondering when you will arrive here with lunch.”
Actually, she could go by herself to the hospital cafeteria to have lunch. It’s not that she couldn’t walk there but Alan felt that the dishes there were not nutritious.
“I happened to meet your mother. She has made a good soup and the lunch will arrive in ten minutes.”
When Alan returned to the ward, he saw her leaning on the window. One foot slightly bent on her toes, consciously and unconsciously, turning around slowly, and gracefully.
The oversized hospital gown on her slender body made her look more frail and thin. He hugged her from behind, “What are you thinking about? I’ve called you twice but you didn’t respond.”
Olive slowly turned around and saw that no one’s behind him, “Where’s Mom?”
“She said that didn’t want to disturb us and she went strolling the street with Chloe. But, you still haven’t answered my question, huh?”
Something that caused her to be low in spirit, must be not simple. Moreover, her gaze obviously looked like she’s evading it. Her small mouth slightly opened repeatedly, as if she wanted to talk.
He didn’t like to have a secret between them, which made him felt insecure. Alan thought of what kind of hardship he had suffered before and what time he felt nervous when meeting his competitors or foes. Only this girl that could make him felt uneasy.
If this was known by Kent, he would definitely tease him. However, he had to admit that it’s true.
Olive does have a secret. This secret had nothing to do with their relationship, also had nothing to do with Mrs. Hoyle or Ophelia. She already had this secret for several days and was hesitant about it. She didn’t know if she should confess now since she was in a dilemma.
“Do you have anything that you can’t tell me?” Alan was obviously unhappy with her silence.
Olive bit her lips slightly and decided that she would hold onto it for the time being. She tilted her head, smiled, and asked him, “Do you think there’s something I can’t tell you?”
“I really want to split your head open so I can see what’s inside.” Alan sighed helplessly. He was always helpless about her. It’s not that he wanted to control her thoughts, but he couldn’t help but curious about the dynamic of her thoughts.
“You’re so cruel. I’m still alive, yet you want to split my head open.”
She responded with an exaggeration to avoid his question. As he thought of it carefully, such a situation wasn’t actually the first time.
What is that she’s being so secretive about it?
When they were eating, she suddenly spoke up, “You think, will Ellison be able to change into someone better?”
Alan was dumbfounded for a moment, “Ellison? Why are you suddenly talking about Master Geve?”
It was said that to see if a person was sincere or not, it depends on whether he avoided his gaze or not. But, when she was upstairs just now, she couldn’t see Ellison’s eyes. He lowered his head, his brows were drooping, looking regretful and guilty. He occasionally raised his head, his gaze looked steady. But she still felt that aside from looking steady, he still hid something that she couldn’t explain clearly.
She didn’t know if it’s because she ever had hard feelings for him, so she became paranoid.
She hopes so.
She told Alan about everything that happened upstairs just now, as she took out the doubts in her heart.
It’s not that she didn’t trust Ellison, but he had done a lot of bad things previously. She couldn’t overlook it. It’s just that time, as she saw Aunt Geve’s hopeful gaze, she was uncomfortable to ask about her doubts.
Alan muttered slightly to himself, as he spoke, “Whether he will repent sincerely or that he has no other purpose, eventually, time will reveal a person’s heart. But kid, you have to stay away from that person in the future.”
Olive laughed and said, “Don’t tell me you’re jealous of me, do you?”
“I’m afraid that his mental disorder will harm you someday. After all, he has HIV now.”
“Although he’s not a bad person, you can’t discriminate against him just because he has AIDS. Besides, it’s not contagious when coming into contact.”
Olive is optimistic that HIV is not a plague. The people who fear AIDS was simply because they lack the correct understanding of AIDS.
“What you say is not wrong, but being careful is also not wrong anyway. Besides, don’t you still have doubts about him?” He wasn’t discriminating against people with HIV but it’s better to be safe than sorry. He didn’t want any harm to his little wife.
“Don’t worry. He won’t be working in Angel after all. I think I won’t have many chances to contact him in the future.” Actually, Olive was having doubts about this. Based on Ellison’s personality, it’s impossible for him to give up the fight for Angel so quickly. This wasn’t like him at all.
Could it be that after experiencing some things, now he is willing to let go of the life of Master Geve?
Let’s hope so.
When Olive was discharged from the hospital, she went through the procedure quietly, then packed her things and returned home without a sound, which made everyone in the house surprised.
“Aren’t you being discharged tomorrow?”
“I’m afraid that you will involve a lot of people again, so I sneak off and return obediently.” Olive grinned.
“This kid” Mrs. Steele was annoyed.
Aoba said, “Don’t tell me that you sneaked back without telling my brother. I guess you are merciless, sister-in-law.”
Olive chuckled, “I’m sorry I didn’t meet your expectation. It’s your brother who sent me to the front door.”
“Then, where’s he?” Mrs. Steele glanced at the door but still, nobody came in, and the corridor was also empty. Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
“He needs to take care of something at the company so he went to work,” Olive replied, throwing herself to the couch and hugging a small teddy bear. Home sweet home, it’s nice and warm.
“Will he come home for lunch?” Mrs. Steele asked again.
“He won’t come. He has an appointment with a client. So, Mom, your celebration lunch can wait until dinner.” Olive chuckled and rolled on the sofa.
“Has your arm fully healed now?” Mr. Steele sat next to her and asked with concern.
Olive touched her arm, “It still hurts a bit. A fracture will need 100 days to heal. It won’t be fully healed easily. But the doctor already said that there’s nothing to worry about. It will be alright after a while, there will be no side effect.”
“If there’s any side effect, you think you'll be discharged easily? Don’t even think about it.” Chloe pouted on the side.
Both the Hoyle brothers were a perfect match. One of them refused to let her being discharged from the hospital, while the other one refused to let her dance at Waitting Bar, saying that she had been recuperating well for the past two weeks, so she could only sing a maiden song quietly for a few days.
In that car accident, she only had some outer injuries, did they have to be overreacting?
But the feeling of being cared for by someone was seemingly good.
The news of Olive being discharged from the hospital soon reached Ivy through Chloe’s blabbermouth. She was taking a nap in the afternoon when her phone suddenly rang and kept ringing next to her ears.
She answered in a daze without looking at the phone display.
“Hello, who’s this?”
“Are you awake?”
“Yeah”
“You’ve been discharged from the hospital, right?”
“Uh, yeah” She answered subconsciously as her brain wasn’t fully awake yet.
She never had a nap frequently before. After staying at the hospital this one week, she developed a habit of getting sleepy in the afternoon. As she’s getting tired, the more she wanted to take a nap. The
longer she napped, the sleepier she got. Like a vicious circle, laziness occurred.
“Didn’t you say that you’ll tell me when you’re discharged? Now, you didn’t even say anything.”
Ivy’s laughing voice was heard clearly through the phone. Olive finally got away slightly from her drowsiness and laughed dryly, “I had just arrived home not long ago. My mom is going to make a feast tonight. Can you call Dave and Xenia to come over and celebrate with me? If it’s convenient for Summer, Edgar, and the others, ask them to come too. The more the merrier.”
“With so many people, I’m afraid that Auntie will be exhausted.”
“Why don’t you be a little conscious? Come over earlier and help her.” Olive hummed twice.
Ivy smiled, “That’s a good idea.”
“My parents have talked about you several times. Come earlier.”
“Okay”
After hanging up the phone, she had no intention to sleep anymore. She thought of the day when Alan told her about Ivy’s background in the ward, together with Dave’s identity. She didn’t expect that since the beginning, these three men had been entangled together.
It couldn’t be the confirmation of a saying ‘Enemies were destined to meet’, right?
A fierce boxing sound came from the gym. The sandbag that was hanging mid-air was almost beaten out of shape.
The man was panting intensely with sweat dripping over his body.
Dave couldn’t bear the sight of his self-tormenting appearance. It had been endless and there’s no sign of stopping even though it had been an entire hour. The person who hit didn’t feel tired but making the person who saw felt tired.
“Hey, I think it’s enough. If you don’t want to meet Alan, you shouldn’t have promised to go. You’re punishing yourself here. I don’t understand what you’re thinking.”
“Why wouldn’t I go?” Ivy grunted roughly, his hand movement didn’t stop for a moment. If he goes, he will be able to meet Olive, and could also add a bit of oppression on that man, why wouldn’t he do it?
Dave raised his wrist and glanced at his watch, “If you really want to go, I suggest you wash up now and get changed.”
Ivy then gradually stopped, wiped off his sweat with the towel around his neck, turned around, and went to the shower room. He quickly cleaned up, collecting all his rage, and restoring his usual fresh look.
Dave looked at him, couldn’t help but tease, “I think, ‘cute boy’ was a term made for people like you.”
Ivy slightly glanced sideways at him, “ ’Uncle’ is a term that’s suitable for someone like you.”
Dave was gloomy, as he touched his cleanly shaved chin, “Since I look like this now, I don't look that old anymore."
“You have rough skin and thick flesh, you’re old.” Ivy attacked him bluntly.
An old man in love usually didn’t care much. But, after meeting a young girlfriend, age had become a taboo topic.
There’s too much temptation in the teeming world. Whenever a young boy confessed to his young girlfriend and regarded him as an uncle, he would wish that he could be born ten years later, and
returned to his fancy age.
Because Xenia was traveling with her older brother who was on a business trip in Vancouver, there were only two men on the car to the Steele’s house. They could chat freely.
“Do you really believe that Alan, that fellow, would have told us the so-called truth?” Dave looked out of the window looking pensive.
Ivy turned his head, glanced at him, then asked, “What do you think?”
