CHAPTER 145: GRANTING ME THREE REQUESTS
"Never mind. You don't know how many children have been frightened by my face and how many grown-ups have feared me, so it's so funny that your daughter should dare to take liberties with me. I like her." Dave smiled at her, followed by the scar on his face, then seizing Annie's small and unruly hands and holding them. "Little girl, quickly call me teacher."
"If I don't accept my birthday present from my godfather, he won't be happy. I can call you teacher, but you have to fight all over the world, as you have to be a very strong man to be my teacher." It was a phrase she had learned from The Karate Kid and she knew it by heart, she saying them more and more fluently.
Since Annie's been watching too many cartoons, Olive was worried. Content © copyrighted by .
Although the hotel was open all year round and got busier towards the end of the year, Olive took a day off for Annie's birthday. Although Annie's birthday was celebrated every year, as Annie had lost the love of the father, she didn’t want her daughter's life to have more regrets.
As Annie was born in the evening of the lunar year, early in the morning, someone rang the doorbell. The delivery boy delivered a package, Olive signing the receipt and opening the package to see. She found a beautiful simulation doll with a little bit of fantasy.
Today, Annie, the birthday girl, was the best, dressing up gorgeously and rushing over. "Wow, SD doll, is it for me?"
"How do you know it's an SD doll?" Olive was curious.
"Ailsa's dad bought one for her on a business trip to Japan, and then she brought it to kindergarten to play with me." Annie hugged the doll fondly.
Olive saw a card in the box on which was written. "Happy birthday to Annie."
Who sent it? It was not signed one's name, the handwriting being strange.
Chloe just got up and came out yawning. When she saw it, she asked. "Who sent it?"
"I don't know." Olive was confused, too.
"That's strange. You could have gotten that suit from Alan, but now." Chloe paused, as Olive's parents were in the kitchen right now, and some of the things that she couldn't have said directly in front of Annie. She leaned over Olive's ear, Whispering. "But Alan now thinks Annie isn't his daughter, so it's unlikely he sent her."
Olive's eyelids twitched, and her heart, which had been calm for days, seemed to be disturbed.
"It can't be him." She was stunned for a moment, saying with certainty that men were not so generous.
"I wish it wasn't him, as blind man is as far away from us as possible. I'm afraid you wish it was him." Otherwise, how could you not like a man as good as Ivy? You must be still thinking about that blind man.
It was just like the saying that the spectators see the chess game better than the players. It was five years, not five days. Since Olive was young, it was time for her to fall in love. Alan was so blind that he was about to marry a woman like Ophelia who was so heartless and cruel. He was called a business wizard, bah, bah, but he didn't know that he was being played. He was indeed blind.
Olive didn’t respond to Chloe's words, but urged her to wash her face and brush her teeth, since Olive's parents has already made breakfast. It's a lovely day out today. As the winter sun seemed to be creeping in, it's supposed to be sunny today.
After breakfast, Olive and her family spent the morning at the amusement park, then going to the mall in the afternoon to get everyone new clothes and some New Year merchandise.
In the evening, Ivy bought a birthday cake and presents with Dave and Xenia to celebrate Annie's birthday. Annie, wearing a princess hat, ran happily around the room like a butterfly, then she climbing into Dave's lap and sitting down.
After two days' rest, Dave got rid of his travel-stained clothes. After a good cleaning up, he looked several years younger.
Annie touched his chin. "Where’s your beard?"
"Shaved."
"Why do you shave? Do you know that's called your personality?"
Personality? The little girl knew what personality was. Dave couldn't help laughing. "You like it?"
"Of course I do. How imposing to have a beard." She could play with his beard when she was free.
Dave had no idea what the little girl was thinking. Just because of her words, he actually grows a full beard in the future. At that time, Annie became his apprentice, pulling his beard from time to time and performing the tragedy of plucking the fur out of the tiger.
He was, of course, the one who was miserable, for he had done something unconscionable to her, and he could not hold his head up before her for the rest of his life. That, of course, came later.
Now all he could think of was how to make the naughty little girl obediently accept him as a teacher. "You recognize me as a teacher, and you follow me in my glory."
The little girl thought for a while. "It is not impossible to call you teacher, but you must grant me three requirements."
He had been aware of the little girl's archness since they first met, and when he saw how fast her eyes were rolling, he knew she was coming up with an evil plan.
"Only when the teacher enrolls students, the teacher makes demands. I have never seen such arrogant as you recognize me as you teacher, you actually make demands."
"Since today is my birthday, I am the best. If you don't agree, so be it." Annie snorted, turning her face to the other side.
As the little girl would challenge him, he thought that she was courageous. Dave turned her little face around. "Ok, I see what you want."
"I haven't decided on a request yet. I'll tell you when I'm ready. I'm going to blow out the candles."
Annie climbed down from him, while Olive and Olive's mother prepared dinner and Chloe put candles on the cake.
After they all sat around the table, the lights went out, and the yellow candle lit up, a warm color, with a happy birthday song.
At the end of the birthday song, Ivy reminded her. "Annie, make a little wish."
