By age one hundred three, I lost my fiancé and swore to kill her assailant. I would kill him for her and myself. How dare he take my abilities like that? He left me the abilities of that of a lowly human. I left DSF in search for him. I will aid the General when I complete my tasks.
By age one hundred eight, I found him. The General said everyone thinks I’m dead so I should disguise myself to help myself get around. The disguise came in handy, I tracked the elf to the most northern human kingdom, the Kingdom of Gearwood. I found him, drunk in a local pub there, so I befriended him over a few rounds of alcohol. When it was closing time, the bartender told me to take him home confusing me with a buddy of his. I took him into an ally and slit his throat, ending his life. I celebrated.
By age one hundred nine, I ended my celebration and started my search for key items, requested by the ancient scrolls, required to trap a god. This will take a long time due to some dungeon diving and history I’ll have research in order to obtain said items.
By age one hundred ninety eight, I finished gathering the materials for the trap, the only thing left to is to go to her place of origin. Unfortunately, that had been lost in the records, so the next best thing would be the birth place of the race. That was impossible for me if the theories proved true, unless I killed a Phendahl. I couldn’t sneak up on them due to them being in their castle all day and me not have the necessary abilities to get to them, so I will have to this the old fashioned way.
I heard that they had a kid almost two decades ago, and he appears to have gone on an adventure of sorts, he might have guards with him, best to steer clear for a while No matter, he will be on the list for extermination. However, I will focus on the occupants in the castle. I gather the herbs required for a not well known poison.
Actually funny thing about this poison, people think the effects of the poison are symptoms of an imaginary disease. They named Soulless Anemia, not too shabby of a name, if I might say so. What made this made this even more ironic is that the poison was created from an extract that came from boiling the flower of Drayasil Duchess’ favorite plant, the Demon’s Blood Rose.
They say that the rose was weird because it had no thorns, ah but it does. The thorns just aren’t visible on this pretty flower, but oh were they deadly. Only a select few know to boil this flower to get the poison. This will be trial and error, but if my months of research prove to be useful, then the Phendahls purchase their pheasants and eggs from the local farm I decided to visit one night. I poisoned every fowl there. Interestingly, fowls are unaffected by the poison but carry it until a person eats their meats, poisoning them to death. Thus the misunderstanding that you catch the ‘disease’ from raw pheasant or their eggs.
From an inn close by, I waited for the news of their deaths. A few days role by before word got out that the duchess and the duke’s brother had fallen ill. In a few days they transformed the castle to a massive palace, it was always magnificent to see the Realms best Earth Demons at work. Then they invited everyone to the coronation of the duke to become a king to the new Astral Kingdom. I heard it was because the duke wanted his wife to experience being a queen before she dies, romantic I guess.
I’ve lived for almost two centuries, and I was without my skills and abilities for half of it due to a curse. Now I was going to get my abilities back. Why didn’t I go after the Phendahls earlier? They were on major lockdown, I have a little leeway now. The coronation, by the way, was huge. I didn’t attend, obviously, but after a few days, I decided to check on my victims. I noticed that the duchess was still fighting it, but it won’t be long.
As for the brother I knew that he only had till morning, just by looking at him. It was late at night when was writing a letter to someone, probably his goodbyes. I wait a few hours after he lays down next to someone else for the night. Confident in knowing that he was sound asleep, I decide to sneak through his window and open his letter. It looks as though it was address to the brat.
I could kill him now, or I could make the family grieve more. With this letter addressed to the boy, I decided to alter it a little making the boy come after me on his own. It might even be amusing as he set out to find me. I set some truth in it for it to be a little bit more believable, but made some details a little off as to not give away everything. I snuck out of the palace window and waited back in my inn listened to word on the streets for a while.
The next morning, Aries Phendahl died. The curse was broken and my mana came back as did my abilities, the first thing I did was set out for the Void.
Being in the Void I tried summoning the Ancient Void Army. After hours of trying, they didn’t answer my call at all. It was uncommon knowledge that the Phendahl family had control over the Ancient Void Army. You either inherited the title of commander from the previous owner by hand down or killing them to take it for yourself. If the Phendahls was in control, then the title was handed down to Aries, the oldest brother.
Technically speaking Aries should have had the title as duke as well, but I guess he gave that to his younger brother to cheer him up from his pouty fit, however, I don’t believe he was commander of the Void Armies. The title should have been Aries’, whom I killed, so I should have the title. So, why was it not working? As I pondered this I Void Step around the Void, trying to find an Arena but I only came across a mountain with dead vegetation and traps. I decided that I would run the trial of the mountain. Running to the top, I realized that no abilities were to be used, no matter, I went a century without them, what’s a trip up a mountain?
At the top was a shrine that a cup full of weird liquid, drinking said liquid made my consciousness slip from me, and by the time I regained my senses I was in an ancient arena. A coliseum to be precise, what made me smile ear to ear was that I had a feeling that this place was also connected to goddess.
I returned to palace once again to check up on the new Queen. While I was away, they set up a time dungeon around her, she must not have much time. Throwing out my own aura I easily shatter the barrier. The queen was just lying in bed, would be what a passerby thought, but she was defiantly dying. Throwing her over my shoulders, I Void Step back to the Void to drop her off then I go back to the palace to find the king, I might as well use this in my plan to lure the goddess.
I found the king pacing in his throne room, obvious worried about his wife, but unaware that she was no longer in the palace. I Void Step behind him to render him unconscious, but he sensed me behind him before I could strike. He blocked my strike with the Phendahl stylized blade of Void metals, but upon looking at my face his block faltered a little.
“You! Why are you here? How are you not dead?” He looked a little shocked at my familiar face.
Sarcastically I said, “I just felt like dropping by and saying congrats on becoming a king. Though I was in support of your brother being king, sorry.”
His face erupted in fury, “HOW DARE YOU SPEAK OF HIM!”
He rushed at me with his black sword in a series of slashes, I took a step back and appeared behind him and struck my fist in the back of his head hard enough to make him lose consciousness. I then administered a powerful dosage of the same poison that went by the name Soulless Anemia. He was heavier than his frail wife, but I managed to bring him to the Void and placed him near his wife. Hmm, for this to work I need an altar of sorts.
Void Stepping to a church, I stole a golden altar and set it in the middle of the coliseum. Arranging the king and queen in such a way and the various materials around in a circle like so. I had to make sure all the crystals were ground into a fine dust and make several rings on the ground. Next I had the metals ground into dust as well and write words in ancient, dead language by mixing purified water with the metals, using this mixture as the ink. Next, I had my mana condensed into tangible ropes. I had these ropes connect the crystal rings into one giant circle. Next, I had to have the object that took me the longest to find, a personal object of the goddess when she was mortal.
This object was a dagger made from a very outlandish metal that seemed to gain strength in darkness, it was mostly black with a red outline. I stabbed this object in the center of the rings and I walked over to the edge and turned around. I was about to perform a ritual that hadn’t been done in millennia, the summoning of a deity. Pouring more mana into the magic circle, the items dissolved to nothing, and then there was a brilliant flash, so bright that I had to shield my eyes.
When the light had subsided, I looked back to see a very beautiful figure before. Her skin was inky black, her robes were pure, sparkling white, that covered her lust inducing body. Also, I noticed black flames had popped in several places around us.
“Why have I been summoned?” She looked very confused as to why she was where she was at. I didn’t blame her for being confused.
“I summoned you, and you will grant my wish.” I respond with my most resolute answer.
Looking at me she seemed to look me over once or twice, “What is your wish?”
“Godhood. I want to become a deity.”
“You are not the last of your race, I cannot grant your wish.” She gave me an apologetic look as if to blame it’s the rules.
I felt a smile press on my lips as I say, “Don’t worry, that won’t take long,” I looked at the Phendahls briefly.
The Goddess followed my line of sight and took a step back as she realized what I had planned. Taking the obvious opening, I Void Step behind her and sent her sprawling on the ground. As she got up she just glared at me, “I could destroy you, is that what you want?”
“If you could, you would’ve done it by now. I summoned you in a mortal body. Not much you can do here.” She blanched when I called her bluff.
Void Stepping behind her I grabbed her, kicking and screaming, I dragged her to the altar and chained her to the altar. I guess before I go after the boy, I’ll have a little fun here.
…
I had pulled my knife from the sliced up goddess. The blade glistened with the golden blood of the goddess. Looking at the face of my victim I could see she lights went out not too long ago. “Hmm, blood of gold and tears of silver? Interesting.
The scrolls were right, she was practically mortal when summoned. But if I did kill her, she wouldn’t really die, she would just be released. So I got to be careful about cutting her up. I then felt the presence of someone watching me.
I turn around to see the boy was early for his appointment. Oh well. So I straightened up and said, “Oh, you came, how wonderful.”
He looked thoroughly confused, “Did you bring me here?”
“Hmm, well, if I had to say, you brought yourself here, I just supplied the means.” I looked over to the goddess and realized that it was probably her doing, I gave a slight chuckle out of amusement.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
He looked more confused, “What do you mean?”
I looked at him as if he was slow, then I laughed at myself. I forgot I set out that letter for him. “My apologies, I lured you here. Did you really think that your uncle knew about me and left it up to you to save the Void? No, I altered his letter when he wasn’t looking. He might not have even remembered me at all.”
He looked truly shocked, he only asked, “why?”
A smile escaped my lips again “The letter had some truth to it, to make it more real. There is a reason why there is an extermination of the Void Demon Race put into effect. There was a seal on my powers that the death of your uncle broke, however, I could have used you, your father or your mother to break the seal. The spell was placed on me by a traitor to our cause. One way to break such a flimsy seal is by kill your fellow species member.”
He looked as if he had a hard time connecting the dots so continued, “I’m guessing you’re thinking of the Soulless Anemia he died from. It’s true he died from that, however it isn’t a disease that everyone thinks it is. It’s a poison. After the people started noticing that people were dying in a very particular way long ago, my… organization found out that birds could carry the poison without being affected, we decided to inject some pheasants every once in a while. So when they started searching for a cause to the deaths, they found the pheasants and guessed it to be some rare disease. By the way my organization coined the term.”
“Why are you telling me this?” Why indeed?
“For that reason right there! I inform you that your family isn’t dying from an unfortunate outbreak in disease, but from an assassin’s poison. Me, being the assassin.” I laughed at my own cleverness.
He looked as if his top would blow at any moment, “So why were you ordered to assassinate all the Void Demons? Aren’t you a Void Demon?” I could only snort and inform him of what I learned from the scripts.
“So you exterminate a race and you are granted a wish. Easiest race to exterminate would be the one with fewest in numbers, being the Void Demons. All in the name of a wish? That’s nuts!” He seemed stunned by the information.
But I could only shrug, “Well, we are banking on it being a wish that will be granted on to us, however, if it comes up to be that there is no wish, which there may be not one, we get rid of one of the most powerful races of demons. It’s a win-win.”
“So why here? How did you bring me here?” This is all that’s been bothering me.
“Hmph, well, it was because I needed to trap a god as well. And what’s better is that I can force her to bring her creations to this place.” I take glance at the altar to see if the goddess was still there. Confirming that she was I looked back at the boy.
The boy was looking at my masterpiece in horror, when he looked back at me it looked as if he would jump at me at any given time, “What have you done?”
“Hey, I wouldn’t be too hasty if I were you.” I warned as I purposefully glanced at his parents’ bodies. The boy froze.
“Hmmm, it seems you have calmed a little. If you are wondering how I got your mother out of that poor excuse of a Domain, I smashed it of course. It’s a skill I developed myself.” I smiled, “Your mother was already unconscious, however your father,” he chuckled, “Your father was… fun. He actually thought he stood a chance.”
The dumb sap actually ran at me with sword in hand, Void Stepping into the sky, I dispersed my body into a fine mist of Hazy Aura. Looking down I noticed that he set up a Domain of his own pretty fast, he might be able to set one faster than me. Of course I shattered it as soon as he made it.
He then had the idea of flying into the air but didn’t realize he was flying straight for me, so when he got close enough to me I partially rematerialized myself and smashed him in the head. He fell a few feet before he turned around and spotted me. It looked as though he recognized the Hazy Aura skill, “Haha, do you know this skill? It has a few specializations, you might really appreciate my specialization.”
It looked as if he was pondering on which one I could have. Well, good thing he doesn’t know. I don’t have a specialization, I can turn into mist and get into tight spaces, nothing aside from regular mist. But he looks wary of my mist anyway. He then pondered for a while on what I assume would be a strategy, he got so caught up in it he did notice me approach at all. I got really close to him, he completed flipped when he noticed but I got caught by the slight gust that came off his wings.
This didn’t go unnoticed to the boy, he noticed that my misty form was affected by air flow. No matter, I faced this time and time again in the Death Matches in DSF. They all thought they were clever figuring it out much like this boy, that was until they found themselves dead. I thought of the Death Matches as I descended to the ground far below.
Remembering those events it reminded me of my weapon. I ran at the boy at full speed taking out my family heirloom, a red curved blade, and struck down for him to receive the strike. The boy’s sword slowly got pushed toward his body, he was just as weak as I thought he would be.
He was able to deflect the sword to my right, his left. I was about to take another swing, that was when I noticed that he took a cheap shot and gashed my leg. He jumped back to look at my face, I was used to pain so I made no expression, I did hover dash at him again, but I wanted to scare him this time. So right before our blades connected I turned into mist and almost touched him again. I do have to admit, this boy has some fast reflexes.
I let him get away a little to see what he will do next. I even flash a smile out of the fog to aggravate him more. I noticed a highly condensed blue mana ball in his hand before he slammed it into the pale yellow ground. The ground turned purple in a thirty foot radius, the purple ground spewed purple fog. Out of the fog fifty columns rose and gave way to fifty black skeletons. Each Skeleton was clothed purple smoke and silver armor, each had silver handled, black bladed swords as well. So this is where Phendahl’s got their swords from.
The boy pumped mist into ten of the skeletons until they grew a time and a half bigger and thicker than the normal ones. He then summoned two more and pumped them with far more mana than the other ten. The fog around condensed around the skeletons forming a bluish skin. I observed that he used the ground that still held some of his mana like a mana network and delegated kills to the small army.
To be honest I did complain a little, “It was supposed to be me…”
The boy actually had the guts to say, “Looks like I beat you to the punch. So your beef is with me, so let my parents go!”
I had to shake my head, “I’m sorry, I need them dead, along with you. I am letting no one leave.” I let energy pour out of me and thicken the air. It then exploded out, trapping everyone in the Arena in a dome of red energy. Red fog covered the ground and out of the fog came a horde of gargoyles that took to the air and slew of giant lizards that took the ground.
That shall keep him busy. Turning my attention back to the parents and the altar I had an idea, I want him to suffer just a little more before I snatch a way everything, including his life. Grabbing his parents I set them by the altar beside the goddess who was now awake and grasping the situation that had taken place. “Alexander! Stop him!”
The boy thought he could get the jump on me, but I dodged a slash at my head when he appeared behind me. I elbowed him in his diaphragm, rendering him unable to move. When he was about to stand up I kicked him in the face, sending him flying. That was when I wanted to look around at the battle field. What?! My army was practically gone.
“You are a little more outstanding than I imagined.” I marched over to the altar and stabbed my dagger deep within my own arm, letting my black blood ooze over, I then stab the dagger straight into the lower ribs of the goddess, she was only able to let out a wheezing sound.
I glanced at the boy as smeared the golden blood across my own wounds, I was suddenly hit with a wave ultimate pleasure. With the pleasure came immense power, I felt more invigorated than I had ever thought imaginable. This stuff was good.
I made eye contact with the boy and thought one word: move. The boy was sent sailing across the field. I noticed that the last of my army was gone, but that’s fine. Forgoing the magic circle, I used the immense amount power flowing through my veins into summoning a tier three dragon. The power transfer gouged the very ground creating a ravine letting all the fog escape its depths until a huge mountain appeared before us.
I had to send orders telepathically for it to obey me, it did take a while to do so. But when it started to attack the boy I turned my attention back to the altar and walked over to the goddess once more. Ah, it was risky stabbing her in the ribs but it will be fine. I decided to bottle up some of the golden blood before I continue in torturing the goddess more.
Just as I sliced into her elbow and led the blade down to her ring finger. I was about to trace each finger with the knife until I witnessed my Domain Shatter in the background and just like that the Catalyst Dragon all my commands and started to do its own thing. Admittedly that irritated me. Through a bit of pacing I calmed down a little. I decided to end things here and go after the brat myself.
It was then that I felt a powerful force smash against my temple, I almost passed out from the impact. I rolled on the ground for a bit before dispersing my form again. I did not expect him to release an ultra-powerful gust that sent my form quite a bit a ways from the altar. To fix this issue I Void Stepped beside the Queen and supported her body with one arm and had knife in my other hand.
“Alexander, don’t look! No, no, no. Alexander, please look this way.” The goddess’ pleas fell on deaf ears as he watched helplessly as I pierced his mother’s heart. I then drop her body, which fell to the ground as I walked over to the king I noticed the boy was frozen but not broken. I guessed his might be weak right now so I peered into his mind and saw that he was now clinging to the thoughts of not his parent’s but of a group of girls that was in a familiar location.
I racked my brain on where this might be and as I did I didn’t notice that the king woken up or that he walked past me. When I came to my senses, he was already clutching his dead wife’s body, rocking back and forth, weeping. I walked behind him and stole his life in one quick flick of the blade. He crumpled over his wife’s body, lifeless. I plucked a feather off his wings and stuffed it into the Void Space. Just as I did so I remembered where I saw that scene with the girls, they were outside of Caslor. I jumped into a Void Step and I grabbed one of the girls that was close to me and Void Stepped back into the arena.
Looking back at girl I brought, it happened to be the one with a wolves tail and ears, A beastman? He cherishes a beastman as well? Hmm, oh well. I look at him dead in the eye as I hold the little girl with a knife at her throat.
