Skill Upgrade

Dungeon Create Lvl. MAX

Dungeon Create is a skill used by Dungeon Masters that can create a space that is controlled by the Dungeon Master. Should the Dungeon either die or choose for its destruction, the dungeon will revert back to its normal space. Dungeons also take on the characteristics of the Dungeon Master.

Lv. 2 Allows the spawning of monsters if mana is poured into it. Also the terrain is now customizable.

Lvl 3 Upon mastering the dungeon skill, allows the dungeon to not be limited to the place of origin, size is alterable, integration of other skills such as Slow Time to create a unique atmosphere that slows the entrapped opponents. More creativity is now available with the Creation of the Dungeon.

Slow Time Lvl. 2

Through combat experience, you have learned to slow the world down for a few seconds, at least in your perception. The higher the level, the longer the effects.

Lvl. 2 Allows Slow Time to last longer, become slower, and the user to be quicker when skill is active.

Void Step Lvl. MAX

Like teleportation, the user can step into the Void and reappear elsewhere.

Lvl. 2 Allows the usage of multiple portals that let weapons and spells pass through for creative combat.

Lvl. 3 Upon mastering the Void Step, it allows the teleportation to the Void itself. Why not make the opponent fight on home turf?

Hmm level 9? Ok, I do feel myself do getting stronger each time I break through a level. Whoa, wait, did that say the Void? I can travel there? And if I were to make a Dungeon there as well? Oh the strategies are flowing in now! Looking up at the dark sky, I smile to myself.

After relaxing for a few minutes I get up and dust myself off. Since my training was done, I better head to the palace and get cleaned up. Maybe afterwards I’ll go socialize with the commoners. I turn around and walk over to the edge of the dungeon. After I made the thought of cancelling the dungeon, the sky got brighter and the misty walls slowly dissipated.

Just beyond the wall I saw a sight I really did not want to see. Standing a few feet away from the rapidly vanishing wall was my mother, the Queen, accompanied by Aria, Louise and the princesses. Not to mention they were surrounded by a garrison of soldiers with their swords pointed at me. In the background I could see nervous commoners forming a crowd. Well, so much for a peaceful day.

When she saw me, my mother wore a face of sheer rage. Oh crap! Is it too late to escape? Knowing my mother, I was probably doomed as soon as I got up this morning.

“WHAT ON ZUGRIELIA WERE YOU THINKING!!!? I leave you in the care of these ladies and you go and ditch them to terrorize the commoners? What is wrong with you? Several complaints of a high ranking monster or low tier dragon setting up a dungeon in the Commoner’s District! I almost called for your Uncle Ares as General of the Army to deal with this. You are lucky I had a hunch it was you. Not only that, but you left poor Aria all alone! She was crying non-stop until we promised we would find you!”

I look over at Aria and see that the skin around her eyes had indeed turned red from crying. I also noticed the princesses snickering beside her. So me getting in trouble was funny? I walked over to Aria and patted her head. No doubt she was still upset. My mother then made her way to a carriage in the distance. This was going to be a long ride home, is what I thought as I followed her. The crowds and knights had long since disbanded.

After being scolded by my mother the rest of the afternoon, I was scolded by Melinda for making my mom do unnecessary things, well into the night. The only thing that was worth noting was that the Burnhearts were on their way over today. They were going to meet my parents about something.

Aria had not left me alone since yesterday, it wasn’t like I was going anywhere, but she stayed extra close anyway. I guess its fine. Seeing the maids scurry around tidying everything was actually pretty amusing to watch. So I chose to sit on the on the stairwell that was centered in front of the entry to the Palace to watch them.

Seeing Aria’s puzzled face was also cute, eventually she asked, “Is something happening today?”

“Oh, have you not heard? The Burnhearts are visiting. I’m guessing it’s to formally go over the slave transfer, but I think they will stay to catch up with mom. I do not know.” At the mention of the Burnhearts, Aria paled and went really silent.

“Aria? Aria?! What’s wrong? Is something the matter?” She wouldn’t even look at me. I was about to question her again, then we were interrupted by Melinda.

“Young Master Alexander and company, you are requested to the meeting room by the King and Queen, immediately. The guest had arrived a few minutes earlier.” She gave a brisk bow and walked away. I got off the steps and went to the east wing with Aria clutching the edge of my shirt tightly.

We finally got to the meeting room, entering it I heard laughter. My father noticed me entering and put the spotlight on me. “Here he comes now! Dathinos, Therrexis, this is my son Alexander. Alexander, these are the retainers of the Windbars. Barons I believe?” the man in front of him gave a nod. My dad continued to smile.

I grasped the Baron’s hand and looked him in his yellow eyes. “Nice to meet you, I’m Alexander Phendahl.”

“Why hello, my name is… You! What are you doing here?!” Dathinos noticed Aria’s presence and was yelling at her, this caused Aria to try to make herself as small as possible behind me. What was this situation?

The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.

“Excuse me? Do you have a problem with her?” I glare at the Baron. Therrexis also turned around to see the commotion and also noticed Aria. She gave her a glare as well.

“There is a problem here in fact. What is this slave doing here?!” He was growling practically.

My dad then stepped in, “Actually that is what we called you in here for. We are looking for the transfer of this slave. My son has taken her under his wing and we wanted to make it official. So we were...”

The Baron cut in, “Rejected. She probably had the help of some mercenaries and had my sons killed. They then spread rumors that we were evil. The commoners look at us with disdain. Commoners, I tell you. They watch us closely now. I’m going to have this slave thoroughly punished. This slave is coming with me now.” He goes and grabs Aria by the hair making her utter a yelp. Before I knew it, I had my claws piercing the Baron’s wrists. He let go of his grip and I let go of mine. He backed away rubbing his wrists. He frowned then sneered, “You can’t have her we aren’t even under your Kingdom!”

“That maybe so, but while you under this palace’s roof, you adhere to the rules. I will not have you come near her during the duration of your stay.” My dad seemed a little irritated he was interrupted earlier. Way to go dad! “We still have other matters to discuss. Alexander you are dismissed.”

I gave a small bow and left the room. I took Aria in my arms and jumped into a Void Step directly to my room. Once we arrived I continued the hold Aria to calm her down. It didn’t take a genius to figure out that there was something not right here.

Once she had stopped shaking I asked, “What happened when you were living with them?” She remained silent and looked away. I then push with, “If you do not tell me anything I cannot help you. If I cannot help you, you be forced to go live with them again.”

She quickly peered into my eyes with a sense of urgency and had tears that formed in her eyes and began to flow as if a dam was broken. For the next hour she told me about the beatings she received, the isolation she went through. The poisonous things she was forced to eat, the places she had sleep in. I was looking for anything that violated the laws the Windbars past in Shienriech, but this… this was brutal. I was now shaking, shaking in absolute hatred and rage.

I am going kill those arrogant, self-centered Nobles. They deserve far worse, but ending their lives is also efficient. Reading my intentions, Aria stopped me.

“No, please don’t kill them. They are Louise’s parents, even if they are bad people, she still loves them.” She had eyes pleading. You have a very large heart Aria. Hearing her story did not lead me to hate the Baron and the Baroness but my respect for Louise skyrocketed. For Louise to protect Aria against her own family, it made me want to plant a kiss on her face for that act of selflessness and bravery.

“Don’t worry Aria. I will spare them from death, but I will end this quickly. You know, the Burnhearts were not the only ones that came by to visit. Duke Adolf Windbar came by to improve relations so he could get accepted as a Duke of the Astral Kingdom.” I may have to pull a favor to get his help though.

I knocked on the guest bedroom at the end of the hall. After a muffled movement on the other side of the door, it opened. The figure that stood before me was a demon with green wings and green feathers for hair. His skin was about the same color as a human, but he was far from it. He stood at about a foot above me. It was Duke Adolf Windbar of the Dukedom of Shienriech.

He let out a tenor voice despite his large build, “What can I do ya fer, My Prince?”

I look up at the tall demon and say, “Greetings. I hear you are looking to join the Astral Kingdom?”

He leans on the door way and replies, “Ya, but it appears, yer old man, the King is gonna turn me away.” He looked a little dejected.

“You know, I could persuade my father of your good character and let you in.”

His eyes widen, “Really, could ya do that fer me?”

Now for the favor, “I will convince to sign the documents, but after he does, I wasn’t full power over the handling of a few Barons.”

He looked excited for a moment then said, “It’s not the Rainwalds right? If so, I will have ta decline. I made a promise ta diplomatically protect ‘em.”

“No, no. It’s the Burnhearts.” I corrected.

“Ah, no problem. Can I ask why?” He asked confused.

I jab my thumb behind me to point at Aria, “This slave has been abused by them for a very long time, violating the very laws you had passed.”

Adolf’s face turned red, “They disobeyed? They disobeyed me? And the prince knows about it? Do not worry; I will do all in my power to punish them!” I kinda laughed a little at how well hated this pair was.

“No, no. I want to handle them, I just want full control of their punishment.” I once again placed my request; he scratched his head and looked at me seriously.

“Make sure they won’t repeat their mistake.” He advised before he disappeared back in his room. I guess I got his permission. Now to inform my parents, while the Burnhearts are getting comfy in their room. With Aria in tow, I make my way toward my mother’s bedchambers.
