Chapter 84

I'm not the type to reiterate events in past chapters.

-----------------------

In addition to the first magic circle, more other magic circles popped out one after another. One magic circle, two magic circles, three, four, and finally, five. Five magic circles were presently glowing around and beneath them. The individuals who had been summoned before were panic-stricken, but Alexander merely had a gaze of curiosity.

"Okay, okay. Calm down. Calm! The fuck! Down!" bellowed Cavaron, "Five magic circles, four of them are far from us, but this one big son of a bitch below us is worrisome."

"Something's strange, they are all transfer circles." said Maguro, "Yet, the flow of energy is weird. It's not the usual that would suck us away like a vacuum."

"Indeed." agreed Hideki, "It's as though something is coming here instead... Huh? Those glyphs..."

"Is that the character for 'seal'? 「封」 wondered Aimi, "Hey, aren't those Shinto texts? Wait, I also see Latin texts along the edges of the circle."

Aimi noticed something along the edge of the large magic circle. Line after line of Japanese and Latin letters were scrawled all over it. From the edge, the texts spiraled into the center like a vortex. At the center was the character for "seal".

"Japanese and Latin texts?" repeated Cavaron as he looked at the two Japanese men with him, "Hey, do either of you know about this?"

Maguro could only shake his head at Cavaron's inquiry. However, when they looked at Hideki, his normally stoic expression transformed into an extremely anxious face.

"You, you know, don't you?" questioned Cavaron, "Were you the one who did this seal?"

Hideki breathed in deeply.

"Yes." he sighed, "But, it was in another Terran parallel. How it appeared here is a question that I would oh so love to have an answer to."

"Specifically 'what' did you seal."

"A demon. A Terran demon."

Cavaron's expression became furious.

"You sealed a demon!?" he cried, "You! Do not! Seal! Terran demons! You either purify them or completely destroy them! You said that you sealed them from another parallel? This! This is what happens when you seal them! The walls separating each Terran parallel from the void is too thin! Even if you strengthen the seal in one parallel, the ones sealed will be able to break through to another parallel! Didn't Yggdrasil teach you that!?"

"He did." replied Hideki weakly, "But I was in the middle of strengthening the other parallels close to it. This parallel was too far from the origin, but I never would have thought..."

"Screw your regrets! Why didn't you seek help from the others, open up the seal, and destroy the damned thing!? Fuck! Which demon is this!?"

As if to answer his question, the four revolving magic circles shattered, and a deep yet raspy voice came from the large magic circle.

"FREE...DOM..." it said, "TWO...HUNDRED...YEARS...I...AM...FREE..."

The large magic circle suddenly shrunk, and a bolt of lightning struck up to the skies. What was once a clear sky became shrouded by dark clouds. As soon as the sky could no longer be seen from anywhere, another bolt of lightning struck the shrunken magic circle, and the circle subsequently shattered like glass. What was once a magic circle now became a black void where a humanoid figure rose up from the depths of the abyss.

"HAHAHAHAHA...BOW...DOWN...PUNY...MORT—... YOU...WHY...ARE...YOU...HERE..."

The humanoid, the demon, as it was reveling in its freedom, noticed Hideki warily eyeing it. The demon was at least five meters tall. It had pure white skin, flaming red waist-length hair, pitch-black and glossy eyes, and a mouth filled with sharp fangs. The only thing it lacked were horns and wings, but had the presence of a trademark demonic and pointed tail.

"Shut it, go die!" shouted Cavaron as he released a Mana Blade.

The blade of mana zipped through the air and severed the demon's tail.

"MY...MY...TAIL..." cried the demon, "AHHHHH...I...HAD...LOST...MY...HORNS...MY...WINGS... NOW...MY...TAIL..."

The demon became angry and let loose a wave of black miasma with a wave of its arm. The wave of miasma swallowed the black monsters around them and many of the drones. Alexander was untouched, though, as he was protected by his Flames.

"Hey, buddy! Do you mind?" shouted Alexander.

"HOW...DARE...A...HUMAN...ADDRESS...ME..."

"Oh, shut up. Tell you what, seeing as you've got a score to settle with waterboy there, how about we team up, eh?"

"HOW...AMBITIOUS... A...HUMAN...WISHES...TO...BE...EQUAL...TO...ME...?"

"Oh, shush! Waterboy is a thorn on my side, and a massive splinter on your ass. Frankly, I am surprised to be conversing with someone like you, but I can't be picky with my potential allies at the moment. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, is how the saying goes."

"Hey!" interrupted Cavaron, "That guy is a demon! The hell are you proposing!?"

"The fact that you guys went against me should be enough of a reason." replied Alexander, "Demon, I don't want a contract or a pact. We will equally give our own share to get rid of them. After that, I don't care if you rampage in this world, what say you?"

"HAHAHAHAHA...AN...INTERESTING...PROPOSAL...FROM...A...HUMAN... DO...YOU...NOT...FEAR...DEATH...?"

"As someone who will soon die, what is there to fear?" replied Alexander, "Pain? Oblivion? I don't care about any of that. All I care about is leaving a legacy!"

Black flames shot out of Alexander's body as soon as he finished speaking. The flames split into three massive black balls, and bipedal mechs stepped out of them. Actually, not just bipedal mechs, there were also the black monsters but appeared to be more ferocious than the earlier ones. Additionally, heavy vehicles rolled out, and a troop of humanoids marched through.

(LEX! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?) shouted Kali from the depths of his mind, (YOU ARE BEING TOO RECKLESS!)

"Hey, what the hell is going on!?" cried Maguro, "What the hell are those!?"

"Blake! Cyan! What's going on!?" asked Cavaron, "Is that one power of the Flames!?"

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

(Mrow... It's one thing to create bit by bit but...) said Blake, (To think he knows about Absolute Creation.)

(Absolute Creation, it sounds nice and will produce many benefits...) added Cyan, (However, it literally takes a toll on the user. He can create anything and everything at the price of his soul.)

(It is a last resort for the Creation aspect of the fragments.) explained Blake, (The Destruction aspect would be Absolute Destruction, and it ALSO takes a toll on the user's soul. One will become able to destroy even the indestructible.)

Soon, a small army of technological wonders that far surpasses the current era flooded the island.

"Demon! What is your answer!? I give it my all to leave my legacy!"

---

"No! Father!" screamed Carmel.

Carmel was coordinating the defensive and offensive mechanisms around the island. This also meant that she was able to see EVERYTHING that was happening. Suddenly, she shifted her sight to another monitor that displayed the vicinity of the island. More than a thousand red dots were converging on the island from all around it.

"Now!? They decide to attack now!?"

If not for the fact that they are all rushing the construction of the three structures, they would have been able to intercept the thousand red dots all around the island.

"Calm down... Father knows what he is doing... The order stands, and the Project takes priority."

Carmel looked at the monitor displaying the events of the battle. Soon, she found that the demon had satisfactorily cooperated with Alexander. The demon took charge of eliminating Hideki, while Alexander handled Cavaron. A human and a demon, along with a small army of machines, tore up the battlefield. Even Cavaron's companions were hard-pressed with keeping the demon in check that was surprisingly holding out well on its own.

The demon had speed that went about Cavaron, and agilely evaded each and every one of their counter attacks. Not to mention that the machines and the island's defenses were providing considerable support. Now that Cavaron and Hideki had to deal with, not just Alexander but also a demon, they were unable to effectively combine their efforts.

"Father is pulling out all the stops? Then so will I."

Carmel operated the array of consoles. One button after another was pressed, and one reaction after another was displayed. On the monitor, a map where the word "Dock" was displayed, fourteen bays opened up, and their status turned to "ACTIVE".

---

"What the?" said Cavaron as he turned behind him, "I am detecting a lot, and I mean A HELLUVA LOT, of people coming here!"

"Senpai! More of those airships are coming out of the ground!" reported Aimi, "THERE ARE FOURTEEN OF THEM!"

From the center of the island, a building opened up, and fourteen catamaran-shaped airships took off. These airships were the same as the one that besieged the Tokyo fortress. The front of each airship lit up, turned to face Cavaron and the others, and let loose a storm of directed energy.

"Oh dear, looks like Carmel became agitated." said Alexander, "I apologize for having you see this, my child."

(LEX! NOW IS NOT THE TIME FOR THAT!) berated Kali, (THE ISLAND IS ABOUT TO BE ATTA—)

Just before Kali could finish her scolding, a salvo of missiles tore through the air and slammed against a barrier. After the first wave landed, more missiles arrived from other directions all over the island.

"What the!?" cried Cavaron, "Those are cruise missiles!"

"Grahhh! Even if they came, they won't be able to go through the barrier!" bellowed Alexander, "Carmel, if you're listening, ignore the ones outside!"

Suddenly, a voice was heard within Cavaron's mind.

"Erm, I have to apologize, Cavaron." said the voice, it was Yggdrasil, "I made a big mistake. I forgot the wipe the video feed of their security cameras, and to wipe Mr. Aoyama's and Ms. Tanaka's memories. Now, a few regiments are about to siege the island."

"Well, shit. You old coot." said Cavaron, "Ah well, no better reinforcements are better than no reinforcements. Let us make do with the consequences at the moment."

"Quite careless seeing as you were the cause of this, Cavaron."

"And quite careless of you to forget about it. Are you getting senile?"

Over the horizon, a squadron of chinooks, ospreys, and c-130 transport crafts could be seen. Right behind them were B2 Spirit Bombers and B52 Stratofortresses cruising at a higher altitude. Further back was a fleet of naval ships cruising over the sea.

"So many people are gonna die today..." commented Maguro, "Such is life."

"Unless we get rid of that barrier." argued Cavaron, "Hideki, do you think you could send a wave of Cyan's Water to disrupt the field? You don't need to keep it up indefinitely, you just need to open up a path for them to go through."

"If it's just that, I'd rather create a sky tunnel, infused with the Water, for them to fly through." suggested Hideki, "However, I need to get this demon off my back if I am to do so."

"Hmm, Aimi! Maguro! How long has it been since we left Edeortha!?"

Aimi turned to Maguro, signifying that she had no idea. Maguro could only shrug and offer a guess.

"Ten hours!? I have no idea!" he replied, "Do you have something in mind!?"

"I do! Come here, Burkhard!"

Cavaron produced a portal with a circle of Flames. After that, a confused knight could be seen on the other side.

"My word, Lord Cavaron, this is a surprise." said Burkhard, "Do you need my assistance?"

"Hell yeah, I do!" replied Cavaron, "Come over here and assist this guy with your Aegis!"

"I see, well, this is a different summoning, but a summoning just the same."

Burkhard stepped through the portal and went next to Hideki. He, then, turned into a floating shield, and stuck close to his target. Soon, a brilliant translucent shell appeared over Hideki, and any of the demon's attacks became ineffective.

"THIS...BARRIER..."

"Now, go and create that sky tunnel!"
