Chapter 57

I feel like I botched this chapter...

--------------------------------------------

After Cavaron had recovered some mana to a certain extent, he went towards Maguro and pulled out a bundle of flowers, "Maguro, this is for you." Everybody's jaws dropped when they heard this. Maguro, however, stared at Cavaron before reacting, "The way you said that leads to a lot of misunderstandings, Cavaron." Maguro looked at the bundle of flowers, and raised a brow, "Aren't these?" asked Maguro, by which Cavaron nodded in return and answered, "Yeah, the same as those on Ethra's chest, and the same ones that suppressed my flame a century ago." Maguro received the bundle of flowers, and gave it to one of his companions while giving out an instruction, "Replace the petals on the patient's body with the petals from these flowers. Assuming that there is a pattern, follow the way the wilted petals have been arranged." His companion nodded, and went through a corridor that led to Ethra's room together with an escort.

"Now then, Cavaron. I've heard the details from your friends here." said Maguro as he pointed towards Aimi and the others, "Quite interesting that you've met young Aimi here of all people." Cavaron raised a brow at Maguro's remark, "Assuming from the way you said it, you know her?" asked Cavaron. "Indeed." replied Maguro, "I met her when I went back home to Terra 1 for a vacation." 'Terra 1?' wondered Cavaron, then he clicked his tongue, 'Oh right, parallel worlds! Damn, I hate those, so confusing.' Maguro turned back to look at the young girl who was playing with a smaller blue girl. Aimi was hugging Aomi like a doll, and was even burying her face into Aomi's fur, sniffing her scent. This made Cavaron give a weird look at the young girl.

"Anyway, back on topic." Maguro resumed the discussion, "Since you summoned quite a number of contracts, and from that unusually large but halted mana fluctuation, I assume that you plan to bring the fight to the enemy, yes?" Cavaron shrugged and nodded, "Well, that was the plan, but I didn't have enough for the nukers." Maguro's eyes went wide as he heard the term 'nukers', "Nukers? Are they comparable to my world's Atomic Bomb? What are you planning?" Cavaron waved his arm at his alarmed friend, "No worries, those guys can control their output, unlike your world's weapon of mass destruction. Although, they couldn't compare to Ciphers and their huge arsenal of absolutely destructive abilities. Speaking of Ciphers, I wonder how that bastard is. Been around 200 odd years since we last met."

Maguro just stared at his friend who was reminded of a certain Cipher. If one remembered Maguro's explanation of what a Cipher was, Ciphers were the so called guardians of time and space, and they were able to utilize every law that existed. That, and the fact that Cavaron became friends with a being so close to a godly existence. "By the way, why haven't you made a contract with a Cipher, Cavaron?" asked Maguro. After all, it wouldn't be surprising since some of his contracts were his friends to begin with. Cavaron looked at Maguro with a dumbfounded expression, "You know? I haven't thought of that. I'll ask him the next time I catch him." replied Cavaron with a smile.

Suddenly, Cavaron felt a nudge on his waist. Looking down, he found Aomi bumping him. When Aomi realized that he was staring at her, she suddenly pointed at him and yelled, "Cavaron!" Cavaron was surprised that she became able to say his name, "Oh? So you can say my name, eh?" said Cavaron, his interest piqued, "Can you say the others' names?" Aomi pointed to Aimi with her furry finger and yelled, "Sister!" This surprised Cavaron even more, "Why 'sister' and not 'friend' or 'master'?" Aomi tilted her head at Cavaron's question, signifying that she did not probably understand the question or the words used. Aimi hurriedly went to Aomi, and lifted her up, "Sorry, Senpai, we were still teaching her human language." apologized Aimi as she hugged Aomi. "Eh, not a big deal, why 'sister' though?" asked Cavaron. "Well, I always wanted a little sister, so why not?" replied Aimi with a grin.

Again, Cavaron shrugged at the turn of events. However, he suddenly realized something, "Aimi, do you have the Byblos with you?" asked Cavaron. Aimi then averted her gaze, "Er... About that..." muttered Aimi. Cavaron then became curious, "What happened?" and asked in a serious tone. This time, it was Ashe who stepped forward, "Sir Cavaron. The Byblos was lost in Azrael's flames. Lady Aoyama had no fault in it." Cavaron's eyes went wide, "How!? That thing was a god level artifact!" he yelled in disbelief causing Ashe to flinch, "I'm sorry, we do not know how, indeed, but we only recovered a fragment that was a part of it." Akash then stepped forward and pulled out an item, "Here is the Byblos's remains." The fragment had the same gold and silver patterns as the Byblos, and looked like a part of the spine. Seeing this made Cavaron spit out a curse so profane that it shouldn't exist in the first place.

Suddenly, a rip in space appeared, and a man's head popped out, "You called?" The head had shaven black hair, a pair of droopy brown eyes, and a fairly flat nose. His voice was sleepy as he spoke. Seeing the sudden appearance of a floating head, Aimi fainted and fell back to the floor, and was caught by one of Maguro's companions. "Go back to your realm." said Cavaron as he looked at the floating head, "I don't want this realm to collapse just because you appear every time I say that string of profanity." Without another word, the floating head pulled itself back into the void. "Who was that?" asked Maguro with a stunned expression. "Would you believe me if I said a piece of a cursed god?" replied Cavaron. Maguro just looked at Cavaron before shrugging, "Okay. Since you are one of the longest living people of our kind, I'll believe anything you say."

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

After the encounter with the floating head, a sound of a gate opening was heard, and they all looked towards the source. The door that led to the reception area opened, and revealed two giant people. "Sir Cavaron, is Ethra alright?" asked one of the giants. Cavaron looked at the two giants, and let out a sigh, "Welcome to the Sky Tower remnants, Esserot and Gulfried." A dragon-minotaur crossbreed, Esserot Tassern, Demon King of Pyo'ah. With his twin Axe folded and sheathed on his back, he walked alongside Gulfried Asonar, Human Emperor of Yanbaka. The two of them, with their mere height, towered over everybody but Halrimaw. As the two leaders strode forth, they were also followed by a squad of soldiers marching in unison.

"You guys are late." said Cavaron, "It's been... what? Ten hours since the attack?" Esserot and Gulfried stood in front of Cavaron before either replied. "Even on wyverns, we still need time to move our forces." replied Esserot, "As such, delivering reports will take time." Although Esserot spoke, Gulfried stayed silent. He already knew that Cavaron cannot be trifled with due to the previous incident in Kalbata Forest. "Fine, just make sure to have a hand in the war to end this war." said Cavaron, "I will need all three races' efforts for this one." When Cavaron said so, everybody around him, save for his summons and Maguro, had their eyes go wide and jaws drop in disbelief. "What... What do you mean by that?" Gulfried broke his silence and asked, "Will our forces even make a difference? We have been at war with the Azuals for as long as I can remember, and you say that with our efforts will end it?"

Cavaron eyed the unbelieving emperor before speaking, "From what I recall reading from the Byblos before it became like this..." he said as he raised the fragment, "The Azuals numbered close to fifty five million, almost equal to the total of all three races' combined active military forces. With that in mind, I expended a lot of mana bringing over my own forces here to aid you. Therefore, I plan to lead the first strike and reduce them by, more or less, a tenth of their total number. We could deliver more damage, say a quarter, but I was stopped be these guys beside me. So, I need your help to give me an opening so I can dive into the middle of the enemy, and kill Azrael, permanently. Emphasis on the word 'permanently'."

"Oh, and before that..." added Cavaron, "Bellatrix!" War Spirit, Bellatrix, stepped forward and arrived next to Cavaron. "Aye, sir!" she replied. "Bolster Esserot's forces, I think you'll like his army." Bellatrix observed the dragon-minotaur crossbreed in front of her, and revealed a happy grin when she saw Esserot's preferred weapon, "Esserot, eh? I think this will be the start of a wonderful friendship!" Bellatrix went next to Esserot and slapped his back. Unexpectedly, Esserot was pushed forward, and a surprised expression was on his face. Someone smaller than him was able to give enough force to break his balance.

"Next, Gunther!" shouted Cavaron, and the War Spirit, Gunther, arrived next to him on horseback, "Aid the Human army. Since they have cavalrymen, I figured you would be the best choice." Gunther, through his helmet, watched Gulfried. He got off his horse, stepped forward, and knelt with one knee, "This knight gladly serves." After that, he called for his horse, and went behind Gulfried. Cavaron then turned to Shamira, "Shamira, I need you to guide the Sloivats and their forces, seeing that Ethra is unconscious, command will fall to the siblings." he said to the Cross Ark.

Shamira flew behind Ashe but was still looking at Cavaron. He noticed her gaze and sighed, "Fine, here." He ripped open space, pulled out a bag as big as his head, and threw it to Shamira, "Don't finish everything before the battle is over." Shamira opened the bag, and pulled out a small item. It was a piece of candy, and Shamira popped it into her mouth. Ecstasy flooded her face, and was witnessed by everybody around them. "Want some candy?" asked Cavaron the others. They looked at Shamira, then back at Cavaron, and shook their heads out of fear of becoming like the Cross Ark. "Okay." added Cavaron as he popped a piece of candy into his mouth.

Not giving the leaders a chance to refuse his request, Cavaron placed his summons into their forces to bolster them. How they would do so is a question that may be answered in the future. For now, Cavaron and the others planned out their operation on finally dealing with the Azuals. "Do note that we don't need to wipe them out completely." said Cavaron. The others were bewildered as to why he said this, if at all he seems to be showing mercy. "The Azuals, no matter how monstrous they look, were born from the union of the three races. I expect reconciliation after we eliminate Azrael. I suspect that that bastard did something to them leading to our problem at hand." Gulfried and Esserot looked at each other, both of their eyes showing doubt's, before answering Cavaron, "We'll see."

Somewhat satisfied with their response, Cavaron called everybody for a meeting. "Right then, here's what we'll be doing. Gulfried, I need you to amass..."

Finally done with this chapter. Now, I can focus on the war. Don't expect the perfect war, though, but feel free to expect AoE skills... Lots of AoE skills.

As for the curse so profane that it shouldn't exist, it doesn't exist. Though, you could think of Spongebob Squarepants, if you want it to exist.
