Chapter 16

On the highway, Cavaron managed to get a ride on a merchant caravan going south. The merchants who were in charge were nice enough to even give him a job of protecting them seeing his equipment.

"Erasyl!" a mercenary shouted. "Wake up, and have some grub with us."

Cavaron, wanting to hide his identity, took up the alias "Erasyl" while going south.

"Right, thanks for giving me a share." he said going down the carriage.

"No prob, yer one of us now."

Cavaron took a serving of stew and sat on a nearby rock.

"So, Erasyl..." the mercenary captain said, "What's yer story, eh?"

"Nothing, really, Cynwrig." Cavaron replied.

"You sure? My eyes never lie to me. You look like a veteran." Cynwrig, the merc captain inspected Cavaron carefully, "Even if yer wearing a cheap looking leather cuirass, yer body tells me something else."

"Woah, easy there cap'n. I'm not gay." Cavaron jokingly said.

"HAHAHA! That's a good one, lad!" Cynwrig laughed.

Currently, Cavaron is not wearing his signature equipment but a set of leather armor and two iron short swords. Donning the identity of Erasyl, he is going as a simple adventurer.

"Cap'n! Bandits on the road!" a merc shouted.

"Welp, time to work. Erasyl, let's see what you can do." Cynwrig said as he stood up and hoisted his great axe.

Cavaron followed after finishing his food. Wasting food is not good, after all.

Before the caravan stood bandits, the typical kind.

"Ta get through, ya needs ta pay the toll: yer stuff or yer lives!" a bandit bellowed.

"How about you scram and we'll forget this happened, eh?" Cynwrig replied.

"Screw ya!" the bandit retorted.

Cavaron picked up a stone and threw it at a bandit.

"Argh!" a bandit screamed.

The rock hit an eye.

"Kill them!!!"

A fight between 46 bandits against 20 mercenaries. Cavaron, not wanting to expend mana and blowing his cover, just threw rocks to distract the bandits.

"Dammit! Archers, aim for that rock thrower!"

This time, a volley of 10 arrows flew over the sky to Cavaron.

"Erasyl!!"

However, when they looked again, Cavaron wasn't in his spot anymore. He was up front still throwing rocks to annoy the bandits.

"This slippery bastard!"

"To hell with it! Finish that guy first!"

This time, 27 bandits converged on Cavaron while the others made the mercenaries busy.

"Erasyl!" Cynwrig was concerned.

"Cynwrig! You want to see my skills? I'll show you my skills." Cavaron drew both swords and started to dance a whirlwind of blades.

Cavaron, ignoring the others, swung his swods beautifully through the air. One sword parried while the second countered, after which it continued again and again. From 26 bandits, he cut it down to 10. The only attacks that get through were the arrows from a distance, but with his speed, he just evaded all of them.

"Era...syl..?" Cynwrig was amazed like the rest of the mercenaries.

The other bandits also stopped attacking as they watched their comrades fall one after another before that whirlwind of death.

"Come on lads! Let's not fall behind Erasyl!!" Cynwrig commanded with renewed vigor after seeing Cavaron.

"OOHHH!!!"

The intensity of the attacks delivered by the mercenaries reached the next level. The bandits were getting cut down one after another, even the weakest began to retreat.

"Screw this, I'm out!" a bandit screamed as he turned tail and ran, and the others followed suit.

12 out of the 46 bandits ran away with their lives.

"HAHA! VICTORY!"

The mercenaries cheered seeing that they had no casualties except for a few minor injuries.

"Erasyl!" Cynwrig approached and slapped Cavaron's back. "You're good! Really good!"

"Thanks, just don't hit on me." Cavaron replied.

"HAHA!" Cynwrig just slapped his back harder.

"Is it safe to move on?" a merchant asked.

"Hm? Ah, yeah. It's safe. Right, lads, let's get a move on!"

---

Volya City. Residential Area.

"Close the gates!"

"Seal all exits!"

"Send hunters down the sewers!"

Federal soldiers are barking orders left and right.

"What's going on?"

"Is it an enemy attack?"

"No, please. Not another war!!"

The citizens are panicking.

"Close the gates! Premier Tania escaped!"

"Say what?"

"The hell's with the premier?"

"Is it that thing earlier? The one with Cavaron?"

This time, Pietr went outside.

"Citizens of Volya, hear me! My daughter and your Premier has escaped! We wish to ask for your aid in recapturing her!" Pietr announced. "Successful capture by any of you will receive the bounty of one million Bels!"

""" Capture the Premier!!! """

A party is going wild in Volya City.

'Hahaha... you will never find me.' Tania snickered as she climbed a sentry tower.

"Excuse me, what are you doing here?" a guard grabbed Tania's shoulder.

"Hyaa~!" Tania jumped and shrieked.

"Oh, Tania."

"That voice, Lucas?"

"Hey."

"What are you doing here?"

"Looking for you."

"Oh, oka– uh-oh..." Tania noticed Lucas' uniform. A Federal Army uniform. "NOOO–gefu!"

"Yes, Tania. It's yes." Lucas said as she knocked Tania out and brought her to Pietr.

"Young Lucas, for this service, you shall receive the bounty of one million Bels." Pietr formally annoumced and gave the money. "NOW, LOCK HER UP."

---

"Brr..." Cavaron shivered.

"Sup, Erasyl?" a merc asked.

"No idea, a chill went down my spine." he replied.

"A woman?"

"I hope not."

"Hehe, so you even have problems."

"Yeah, whatever."

The caravan continued until they arrived at a town called Teman.

"Well, we're here." a merchant announced. "Erasyl, thanks for your help."

"Sure. So, know the way to Kintab's Recluse?" Cavaron asked.

"That place? Any pariticular reason why?"

"An old friend wanted me to deliver a message to someone there."

"I see, I see. Hm, see that stable over there?" the merchant points to a stable to the south of town.

"Yeah?"

"You can get a guide to lead you there. Not sure about the cost, though."

"Eh, I have enough money. Guess I'll go now, bye."

"Thanks again, Erasyl."

Just before Cavaron left them,

"Yo! Erasyl!" Cynwrig called him.

"Need anything?"

"Join my band."

"Hmmmm nah. I like to be free."

"Oh, pity. We could use someone like you."

"I'm sure you'll find someone like me."

"HA! I'll prolly be long gone by then."

"Cheer up, cap'n. You're still young."

"Heh, being told that by you feels weird."

"I'm not hitting on you."

"BAHAHAHA! We'll miss ya."

"Yeah, yeah. See ya."

"See ya, Erasyl."

Finally, Cavaron went off to find a guide to Kintab's Recluse.
