Solitude's Requiem
The Lieutenant

The Lieutenant

Following this “butler” we're politely guided towards a marble door that seems rather plain compared to the rest. The “butler” gives us a full-on bow before taking his leave. I'm not one to judge on the appearance…. But I'm one to judge beings on their power, and holy **** that “butler” seemed strong.

'Are all their “servants” like this?' I think to myself, starting to wonder why they don't simply train one of these guys.

Eli instinctively grabs my hand tighter, as I can only assume she also feels the incredible power each individual here has.

“You may enter.” A strict voice calls out from the other side of the door.

Heeding this person's call, I open the door. Inside is a large, practical office. No unnecessary decorations or flaunting of wealth. Simply a large, well-organized office.

The person who sits behind the office is a very light-skinned devil. He has the same aura as Ergillaz, but a bit colder. Long silver hair in a ponytail and wearing a black vest that clearly has no purpose but to show his body. Those would be the things I notice first if he didn't have 6 eyes on his face. Three eyes go in a vertical line on each side of his face. His eyes share the same golden color as Ergillaz.

“Greetings, my name is Tharnomath Talvit, and I've been ordered to oversee your training these coming years.” He says in a calm yet firm tone.

'He's clearly used to being in absolute control.' I think to myself, observing Tharnomath.

“I see, what about the girl, does she have an assigned trainer yet?”

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

When my question finishes, I can see Tharnomath's eyes flicker with a golden light as he looks at Eli. Keeping the same calm face that hasn't changed since coming, he continues speaking.

“Not yet, however, I agree with this notion. It would be far more beneficial if she would be able to defend herself.”

He claps his hand and a knock on the door could immediately be heard.

“You summoned me, your lordship.” He announces through the other side of the door.

“Enter.”

The door opens, and I can see a headless knight in black armor stand before it. Where the head would be, only fire can be seen.

“Idrilth you will be tasked with overseeing this girl's teachings.”

“May I be so bold to ask a question, your lordship?”

“Permitted.”

“ I do not have experience in teachings, so why did you choose me, your lordship?” He asks in an emotional voice which is quite strange without any expressions.”

“The others are too weak.”

“I understand, your lordship.” He answers again in this subservient tone without emotions.

'What just happened?' I wonder as I hear this drastic change in tones.

The headless knight bends on one knee before Eli before speaking again.

“Greetings miss, my name is Ildrith, and I've been assigned to teach you how to become a strong devil. May you find any deficiencies in my teachings be sure to tell me as my inexperience may not be a detrimental factor for your future.” He/she says in a voice filled with fervor.

Eli at first seemed scared at the sudden gesture. She even decided to use me as a shield. I was just going to assure her, but before I could, she let go of me and stands in front of the knight.

“It would be my pleasure to accept the guidance of a strong warrior such as yourself. Do not underestimate me because of my stature. I rather suffer in training than receive such a humiliation.” She announces in this determined and strong voice.

“Of course, miss, I will make sure that never happens to you.” The androgynous voice responds.

'This is quite surprising.' I think to myself as I see Eli still gaze at the knight with a look of confidence and determination.

“Very well, be off then so that we can both begin.” Tharnomath says in his normal strict and cold voice.
