Chapter 99: Going Hunting

Brandon barely had time to marvel at the magical array's wonders before he noticed that each of the giant beasts was injured, and only four of the five giant pythons had made it. Kong's back was covered with horrific wounds, his muscles exposed and bleeding profusely, leaving him on the verge of death. Yet, he tightly clutched the Dragon Claw Blood Orchid in his hand. Of the three giant snakes that had been taught the technique, only one returned. Thankfully, Skyler was uninjured, providing Brandon with a slight sense of relief.

Seeing the severely wounded beasts, Brandon immediately understood what had happened. A surge of immense anger filled him, and his blood loss made him dizzy. It took him a moment to regain his composure.

Ignoring his own weakness, he quickly crawled to Kong's side. A powerful flow of internal energy slowly transferred into Kong's body. Fortunately, Kong's injuries were only superficial and had not reached his vital organs. The substantial blood loss from the morning and the current wounds had caused him to fall into a coma. Under Brandon's immense energy, Kong's body began to heal rapidly.

It took Brandon two hours to finish.

Looking at the remaining beasts, he felt a deep sense of connection with them, having been together for so many years. The sudden death of one of the five giant pythons pained Brandon deeply. Having been an animal for so long, Brandon gradually started seeing himself as one too. Humans felt increasingly distant to him.

The five giant pythons were like comrades and subordinates to him. Although he had varying degrees of affection for them, the snakes' cold and indifferent nature made it hard for Brandon to be fond of them. In contrast, he had a deep bond with Skyler, who had been with him since childhood, and the loyal Kong.

However, the pythons' respect and loyalty were unwavering, and Brandon often saw their fervent gaze when they looked at him. They might not have been the best companions, but they were excellent subordinates.

The fact that his subordinates were killed by humans enraged him.

From being a lizard at birth to becoming a dragon, Brandon had grown from weak to strong. He had always lived cautiously, fearing predators first and later fearing discovery by humans.

His previous life as a human meant that even when encountering humans, he never thought to harm them. Humans evoked a mix of familiarity and fear in him.

But, he didn't harm humans, yet they relentlessly pursued him. They attempted to capture him, study his body, and ultimately even sought to kill him. Driven by greed, humans forced him to flee for his life, seeking refuge far away. His concessions ultimately led to the destruction of his own lair.

A fierce anger burned within Brandon, but despite his rage, he remained rational. He was waiting, waiting to advance to the Lesser Heaven level. The relentless human pursuit had pushed the furious Brandon to the opposite side of humanity. One day, humans would experience the true wrath of a dragon.

Among the remaining giant serpents, one had evolved from a king cobra, another from a rattlesnake, one from a python, and another from a cobra. Each of these giant serpents bore terrifying scars, with scales that had been ripped apart. Their thick scales were no match for the power of missiles. They lay coiled on the ground, closing their eyes to heal.

Brandon drove the remaining serpents out of the cave. After leaving the cave, the serpent swarm slithered towards the forest outside, where the environment was even more brutal. Brandon estimated that most of these serpents would become prey for the island's giant beasts.

However, those that managed to survive would become incredibly powerful. The survival of the fittest here far exceeded that of the Amazon jungle. The bloody law of the jungle dictated that only the strong would survive. After the serpents left, the cave suddenly felt spacious, and the snake odor began to fade. Several humans approached to help clean up the cave.

Brandon pried open the claws of the King Kong and took out the Dragon Claw Blood Orchid. Its roots were still attached to some gravel, and though it hadn't yet bloomed, many buds had already appeared. The drooping, hard leaves looked listless, having been away from the soil for too long. He walked outside and transplanted the Blood Orchid to the cave entrance. The abundant spiritual energy here should be more conducive to the Blood Orchid's growth.

The young sub-dragon saw Brandon approaching and quickly lowered its body to the ground. This little creature had grown significantly since Brandon first saw it. Curious, it watched as Brandon transplanted the Blood Orchid.

The Blood Orchid wasn't very tall, only about six and a half feet, so Brandon had to crouch to perform the transplant. After a while, Brandon stood up, feeling dizzy and seeing stars.

He dragged his body into the cave and began to cultivate. Brandon had lost so much blood that he could barely walk without staggering, and his hunger was growing more intense. In his current state, hunting was out of the question; he might pass out at the first encounter with a wild beast. He hoped that cultivating would alleviate some of his hunger. Finding a comfortable position on the ground, he closed his eyes and began to cultivate.

Early the next morning, Brandon was awakened by his hunger. He shook his massive body and crawled out of the cave, feeling slightly better than the day before. At least his head wasn't spinning as much, and he had regained some strength.

Skyler had already flown out to hunt, but the situation here was complicated, with ferocious beasts making it difficult for Skyler to manage. The chances of obtaining food were slim. King Kong had not yet awakened, though he looked much better. Several giant serpents lay weakly on the ground, their massive blood loss and hunger making them feel like they were about to hibernate.

Seeing the dire state of the giant beasts in the cave, Brandon decided to go hunting himself. The beasts were severely injured and weak; he was in the best condition among them.

He walked outside the nest as the sun was rising. The bright sunlight made Brandon feel a bit dazed. Shaking his massive head, he started walking away.

The morning air was especially fresh. Brandon took a deep breath, immediately feeling a bit more alert. The surrounding trees were enormous, and giant birds occasionally flew up from the treetops, their huge wings causing the branches to sway. Each of these giant birds was about the size of Skyler. Brandon found it strange that such large birds didn't fly to other places; at least, he had never seen such huge birds anywhere else on Earth.
