Chapter 22: The Mad Dash

After Brandon ran for more than ten minutes, he finally caught up with the large group of fleeing marmots, pangolins, badgers, moles, marmots, raccoon dogs, lizards, snakes, monkeys, orangutans, foxes, weasels, and giant lynxes.

Many animals appeared one after another like magic, fleeing in groups, scrambling to escape. Many of them were creatures that Brandon had never seen before, and he didn’t know where they came from.

Some of these animals were usually enemies and natural enemies, but at this time they were getting along well with each other and running for their lives together.

One after another, they kept falling down, covered with ants, dripping with blood, and ending up in a miserable state.

Brandon casually slapped to death a few ants that were about to crawl into his eyes. Looking at his feet again, they were covered with large crawling ants. The nearby grass, trees, and ground were covered with large ants, scrambling to crawl over. Within half a minute, the ants crawled over and were 1 centimetre thick.

At that time, a python ran out of nowhere and suddenly rushed in the direction of the ant colony. A few minutes later, when it got into the ant pile, its body appeared to double in thickness and soon turned into a black hill. The python only struggled for more than ten seconds and then lay there motionless.

Brandon was paying attention to the python as he ran. In almost a minute, the ants dispersed again, revealing a pile of white bones. He was so frightened that he broke into a cold sweat and couldn't help but speed up a little faster.

After running for more than ten minutes, he found a small river in front of him. He was overjoyed. He ran over quickly.

Those animals didn't care whether they could swim or not, they rushed towards the small river, although the river was not big. But many animals jumped down, struggled for a while, and never came up again.

He climbed onto the river bank and breathed a sigh of relief. There were many animals standing around. They were breathing heavily and whimpering. Many animals were already covered in blood. He heard a swishing sound, and the sound was very dense, getting clearer and clearer from far to near.

Soon, a dense layer of ants appeared on the opposite bank in the distance, tens of millions, as big as a finger, and the edges could not be seen at all. They were like a huge army with thousands of troops, rolling like a wave. Wherever it passed, all the grass roots and leaves were eaten up, and all living creatures were taken into its belly. Even the bark of the trees above the ground and half a foot below was eaten away.

Those animals that didn't come and escaped made pitiful calls for help, but soon became mute and were wrapped in layers of ants. Soon, they left a large or small pale skeleton on the ground. He began to doubt whether his steel armour could withstand their bites.

Where do these billions of ants live, move, and eat on a daily basis? Do they move together every day and where do they usually live? All these mysteries make him very confused.

They worked together and moved forward like a tide. Nothing could stop them. Their momentum could not be described by mere thousands of troops. They would devour all living things and could destroy any living thing in an instant, even the most ferocious animals.

These carnivorous giant ants were simply the messengers of hell, synonymous with the devil and death. Wherever their steel mouths passed, the grass turned to dirt and sand.

A few minutes later, thousands of man-eating ants gradually approached the river. The ants stopped when they crawled to the side of the river. He thought ants couldn't cross the river, but what happened afterwards shocked him.

Swarms of ants bravely crawled into the ditch. Although many ants drowned in the water in the ditch, more brave ants still swarmed into the ditch without fear. They were using their bodies to build a floating bridge for other ants to crawl across the ditch.

The darkness gradually approached the panicked animals.

Brandon didn't expect ants to climb the ditch so quickly. The densely packed ant wave pushed forward and swarmed toward the opposite river. The river water could not completely contain the ants' attack. A few ants had crossed the river bank, and some even crawled onto the animals.

The group of animals began to stir again, making various sounds of fear. Some animals had already started running for their lives again. The water flow washed away many ants in the ditch.

He felt that the ants would definitely not be able to cross the river if they acted so recklessly. If they rushed over like this, they would definitely be seeking their own death. He felt much more at ease, and he didn't have much energy to run anymore. He lay down on the spot and was about to take a rest, when the ant strangely stopped this death-defying behaviour.

Ten minutes later, the ant colony began to stir, and actually dragged in countless leaves. These ants actually knew how to use leaves as boats. He felt that his brain was a bit insufficient. Are ants so smart?

Some ants climbed up the leaves, while others dragged the leaves down into the water, letting them float away in the water.

All of a sudden, countless small leaf-boats sailed towards the shore. Although many were overturned by the current. The animals on the shore stood up by and roared at the other shore, but the fear in their eyes could not be concealed.

He didn't dare to hesitate anymore, greeted Skyler, and started running away.

He didn't know how long he had been running. He felt like he had been running. He crossed the hillside and passed through the jungle. Gradually, the screams of animals became farther and farther away, until he could no longer hear them.

There were no more escaping animals around him, and everything seemed so peaceful. He finally stopped running in front of a huge lake. This was a huge lake. From a distance, you could only vaguely see the opposite shore. There were several small islands scattered in the lake.

A large number of birds hovered over the lake, rushing into the lake from time to time, picking up a plump little fish, with a string of beautiful water drops splashing on their bodies. A large group of adult zebras and their cubs were drinking water at a lake not far away.

There was a huge mountain peak in the distance, surrounded by white clouds and covered with snow on the top. This was a beautiful place! It was also the place where he would live in the future!
