Chapter 81: The Battle of Crossing Ranks

Chapter 81: The Battle of Crossing Ranks

The two sides resumed their standoff. The monk was in severe pain, his brow tightly furrowed. Pale golden fighting qi flickered around him, his face was pale, and blood flowed continuously from his severed arm. He pressed on the wound, and the bleeding gradually slowed until the wound started to scab over.

Both sides were heavily injured. The vajra was covered with dozens of sword wounds, its flesh torn and blood gushing from its injuries. It panted heavily, blood trickling from its snarling mouth. A giant snake lay on the ground, barely alive.

The atmosphere was tense; no one dared to make a move.

At this moment, a faint dragon roar echoed from the sky. A massive shadow approached from a distance, and the expressions of the beasts eased. Skyler let out a loud cry. The dragon had arrived!

The monk was on guard, sensing a rapidly approaching danger. He looked up to see a massive purple-gold dragon flying towards them, its large wings spread wide. The dragon appeared furious, its pale golden eyes full of killing intent. It roared, opening its massive jaws, a hint of red deep in its throat.

Brandon was furious. He hadn't expected humans to dare to slaughter in Snake Valley during his absence. He opened his mouth and spewed a red flame towards the monk.

The monk, wrapped in golden fighting qi, posed a significant threat to Brandon. He could feel the monk's immense aura suppressing him. This was the power of a lesser heaven level, Brandon surmised. He hadn't expected such a powerful expert among humans.

Seeing the flames, the monk quickly dodged to the side, his body lifting off the ground. Though unsteady at first, he gradually gained control. Upon reaching the lesser heaven level, beings acquire the ability to fly.

The monk's flight became increasingly stable, moving agilely through the air as if it were second nature. Despite the considerable consumption of fighting qi required for flight, the breakthrough to the lesser heaven level connected his energy with the world, continuously replenishing his reserves. Under this continuous flow of energy, the fighting qi consumed by flying was insignificant.

He started to fly towards the dragon, intending to defeat it first before negotiating. This way, the negotiation would be easier, and he would have the upper hand.

However, before he could reach the dragon, he suddenly felt a heavy force pulling him down, causing him to plummet uncontrollably towards the ground. As he approached the dragon, it had already cast a gravity spell over him.

Suddenly, a massive spike shot up from the ground. The monk quickly slashed it with his sword, but blood began to seep from his wounded arm again.

Suddenly, a red glow appeared around him, and intense heat gathered. Within seconds, a fiery giant emerged from the ground, radiating scorching heat. It took massive steps toward the monk.

The intense heat caused his hair to curl, making it impossible for the monk to get close. He slashed at the giant with his pale golden sword light. However, the fiery giant seemed ethereal, not solid. Though the sword light created a crack on the giant's tall body, it quickly healed, and the giant continued to charge at the monk as if unscathed.

The giant's speed was no match for the monk’s agility. He ran forward quickly, occasionally turning to unleash a slash of golden sword qi.

Suddenly, the monk felt his body slow down. The surrounding heat increased, and the air became stifling. A massive wall of flames rose from the ground, gradually encircling him. The fiery giant behind him seemed to grow stronger, its body expanding as it pursued him.

The monk cursed under his breath, releasing all his pale golden fighting qi. The powerful qi disrupted the gravity spell, and he shielded his body with it, attempting to escape. However, it was too late.

Flames several meters high engulfed him. A few seconds later, the monk jumped out, his body smoking, and all his clothes burned away.

Brandon, seeing that his magic couldn't defeat the monk, roared in fury. He charged at the monk, sharp claws extending from his paws, gleaming with a metallic sheen.

Before the monk could catch his breath, he felt a terrifying pressure descending from above. Hastily, he raised his great sword and unleashed a slash of pale golden sword qi at the dragon. The sword light struck the dragon but only caused a few sparks to fly. The monk's sword light couldn't penetrate the dragon's formidable defense.

Brandon felt a slight pain but continued his descent, his massive body blocking out the entire sky.

The monk stopped fleeing, realizing that if he kept running, he would surely lose. It was time to make a final stand. He raised his great sword, its energy pulsating, and with a loud shout, he charged at the dragon. His body was enveloped in fighting qi, radiating powerful energy waves that disrupted Brandon's gravity spell.

The monk's incredible speed left Brandon no time to dodge. Raising his great sword, a blinding golden light appeared in the sky, resembling a small sun. Terrifying energy surged from the sword, slashing towards the dragon.

Brandon squinted slightly and swung his tail around. Dodging would be foolish now. In a narrow path, the brave win. If Brandon dodged, his momentum would weaken. He trusted in his body's defense.

If an earth-level peak dragon's defense couldn't withstand a lesser heaven-level human monk, dragons wouldn't be known as a formidable race. Moreover, this dragon had trained in the Golden Bell body refinement technique.

With a tearing sound, the great sword struck Brandon's tail. The powerful impact caused the tail to pause slightly, emitting a shower of sparks. The sword felt like it was cutting into steel. The dragon's scales cracked slightly, and a trickle of blood flowed from the tail.

Before the monk could marvel at the dragon's defense, the massive tail continued its forward motion. With a loud crash, the tail, several times thicker than the monk's body, struck him. He was flung into the air, blood scattering from his mouth. The powerful blow had seriously injured him.

A few seconds later, the monk's body crashed heavily to the ground, creating a shallow crater.
