Chapter 119: The Battle of Fate

It was noon in America, the sun blazing in the sky. The streets were bustling with traffic, cars zooming back and forth, and towering buildings lined the roads. This was San Francisco, the largest city in California. At this peak hour, the streets were teeming with people. Attractive women in sharp business attire hurried by, their long, slender legs catching many admiring glances.

Brandon flapped his wings powerfully, flying towards the immense city without a specific destination, relying solely on luck to guide him. California was on high alert, with patrol helicopters covering the land as the presidential election approached. The incumbent president, determined to secure re-election, would not allow any events beyond his control to occur. Any potentially adverse factors were to be swiftly eliminated in their infancy. The recent giant snake incident had already put him at a significant disadvantage.

As Brandon approached, his massive form was detected. Radar screens clearly showed a large object swiftly moving closer. Several fighter jets took off immediately, heading towards the unidentified flying object. Ground-based missile systems began locking onto the target, ready to launch at a moment's notice. America's formidable anti-missile systems could not only defend against missile attacks but also target any airborne threat, especially over major cities.

Flying at high speed, Brandon drew nearer to the city when he heard the roar of fighter jets approaching from the distance. Narrowing his eyes, a sharp, intimidating light flashed from them. Energy surged through his body, preparing him for defense. Brandon flapped his wings again, accelerating towards the jets.

"Oh my God, it’s a dragon! Attack immediately! It must not approach the city!" a pilot shouted. His voice transmitted swiftly to the ground command center through wireless signals. Outside the command center was a missile base, with large missiles lined up like soldiers awaiting inspection. Suddenly, these missiles seemed to receive an order, adjusting their direction slightly.

With a loud boom, the ground shook as several massive missiles ignited, shooting skyward with blazing tails, creating sharp whistles as they accelerated. The missiles sped faster and faster, homing in on the dragon.

Brandon's pupils contracted slightly. He cast a gravity spell over a wide area and simultaneously formed seven or eight massive earth spears in the air. These spears, deep yellow and gleaming like metal, had significantly enhanced power compared to before.

The missiles grew closer, and Brandon could even see the intense air turbulence they created. Each missile was about six or seven meters long and over a meter wide. As the missiles loomed larger, Brandon knew he couldn’t wait any longer. He launched the earth spears at the incoming missiles.

Several explosions resounded from the sky as the missiles were struck by the spears, causing massive detonations. Blinding white flames burst forth, with shockwaves rippling towards Brandon. He steadied himself and flew rapidly forward, feeling only slight discomfort from the shockwaves, which dissipated quickly with the flow of his internal energy.

Before Brandon could fly much further, more missiles streaked towards him. Over twenty missiles swarmed the sky, surrounding Brandon. Breathing deeply, he cast a protective shield over himself. Earth spears densely packed around him, forming a giant spherical barrier. Brandon now resembled a spiked hedgehog.

Countless spears jutted out simultaneously, slicing through the air like swords and intercepting the missiles.

A series of explosions echoed through the sky, which now appeared as if it were painted red. Over twenty massive mushroom clouds rose and lingered, filling the air with the intense smell of gunpowder. The powerful shockwaves caused Brandon's body to sway involuntarily. He steadied himself and continued his approach to the city. His sharp eyes could already make out the crowds on the streets below.

Brandon descended rapidly, flying at a lower altitude as he neared the city. Missiles could no longer be launched due to the proximity to urban areas. Numerous helicopters took off, heading toward Brandon. On the ground, tank units began moving into the streets, the city's piercing alarms blaring. Traffic quickly ground to a halt, with car horns blaring incessantly. People ran chaotically through the streets, screaming in terror, completely unaware of what was happening.

Countless earth spears formed in the air, poised to strike. Brandon didn't slow down, hurtling forward at high speed, his eyes narrowing with an intense, fiery gleam.

Slow-moving helicopters approached from afar, swarming densely. Brandon couldn't tell how many there were—thousands filled the sky. As Brandon closed in, the helicopters trembled, releasing a swarm of small missiles at him. Brandon didn't dodge. Instead, he unleashed the earth spears to intercept the missiles. However, there were thousands of missiles. While hundreds exploded, the remaining missiles continued their rapid approach toward Brandon.

Brandon didn't evade. He wanted to test whether his body's defenses could withstand the missiles. Although he wasn't sure about defending against large surface-to-air missiles, he was confident in facing these smaller air-to-air missiles.

Energy surged through Brandon's body, and suddenly, a golden film appeared over his skin, shining brilliantly in the sunlight. His body looked like it was made of pure gold. He flapped his wings forcefully, doubling his speed, causing most of the missiles to whistle past him. Brandon then deactivated his protective shield and gravity spell, aiming his body at an incoming missile.

In Brandon's eyes, the two-meter-long missile seemed as small as a chopstick. As the missile drew closer, its whistling grew louder. With a tremendous bang, the missile struck Brandon's shield, causing a violent explosion. A massive fireball enveloped Brandon, but he shot out of it in less than 0.1 seconds. The impact caused only a brief pain, which quickly subsided. Brandon glanced at the spot where the missile hit—aside from a slight dent in his scales and a small black mark, he was unharmed.

Brandon breathed a sigh of relief. These small helicopter missiles posed no real threat to him. Letting out a dragon's roar, he flew aggressively toward the helicopters.

Abandoning magic, Brandon charged directly at the helicopters. Moving like a purple-gold lightning bolt through the air, his high speed made it difficult for the missiles to lock onto him. He weaved through the dense barrage of missiles, targeting a helicopter. His massive claws, gleaming sharply, slashed at the helicopter. The rapidly spinning rotor blades struck Brandon, sparking long trails of fire before bending and halting. His claws tore through the helicopter's thick steel plating with a sharp, screeching noise, ripping the craft in half and sending it crashing into the sea below.

Without pausing, Brandon dodged the attacking missile barrage and flew toward another helicopter. He could see the terrified faces inside.

One helicopter after another was torn apart by him, turning into scrap metal and falling from the sky. The remaining helicopters no longer dared to approach, attacking from a distance instead. However, the slow-moving missiles couldn't hit Brandon at all. With Brandon's lightning speed, it was impossible to lock onto him. Even if he was occasionally hit, the pain was fleeting and couldn't harm him.

Gradually, the number of helicopters decreased, and Brandon finally stopped engaging in close combat. While hand-to-hand combat was exhilarating, it was highly inefficient. After casting hundreds of earth spear spells, the sky finally fell silent. The few remaining helicopters began to flee into the distance.

Hovering in mid-air, Brandon coldly watched the retreating helicopters, exhaling heavily. Now he truly understood what it meant to feel triumphant.

He flew close to the sea surface, and within a few breaths, he arrived above the city. The entire city was in chaos, with panicked crowds running wild on the streets, traffic jammed, and cars honking incessantly. Brandon dove from the sky, landing on the street below.

His massive body, weighing over a hundred tons, slammed into the concrete road, producing a thunderous roar. Visible cracks extended from under Brandon's thick feet.

The terrified crowd screamed in panic, running frantically beneath Brandon's feet. Drivers who had been honking their horns desperately opened their car doors, abandoning their vehicles and fleeing in terror.

In less than a minute, the street was deserted. Trash and plastic bags were scattered everywhere. A little girl fell on the street, crying in fear, her eyes filled with terror as she looked at the massive dragon. Her leg was injured, bleeding profusely, and she couldn't stand up.

The dragon snorted out a thick plume of smoke, with sparks crackling in the air. Suddenly, the dragon waved its claw, and a misty spray descended from the sky, falling on her injured leg. The pain vanished as a tingling sensation spread. She wiped her tears, looking at her leg in confusion. She stood up, glanced at the dragon, and then ran off into the distance.
