12 MMA (part II)

You are tired.

You are hungry.

Well, the hunger she could fix. And she took out a piece of poisoned Elk meat.

Now for sleep.

She put her head on the table…

“Looks like we have one of them die-hard mages... Staying here all day, trying to study over night. Ha-ha. Oh shit, a spider!”

She was woken up by a janitor sweeping the floor, seemingly talking to himself.

“What time is it?” She asked.

“Half past three,” he said, mop held high, getting ready to hit Charlotte with his dust mop. He gave KillPrinsX a strange look. Everyone had a clock in front of their face, right next to their stats bars.

“Uh, thanks. That’s my spider by the way.”

The janitor put his broom down, but continued to stare at her.

The jet lag taking it toll. She’s woken up in the middle of the night! There wasn’t even any sleep timer.

She stood up, closed the book and wondered if she’d be able to do any work at this time, like start making new skills.

She walked around the campus, seeing what was open or not. There weren’t any players in the gym, the reception was void of sunlight, though a few neon signs were still lit. The premises were all vacated.

Well, she’s going to have to do this on her own.

She was starting to look around for something… she didn’t even know where to start. Was there some machine or a skill that you have to acquire, or buy them individually?

It wasn’t long before she found what she was looking for. It was another class room with drawings on the blackboard of what seemed to be skills combining with other skills.

She hunted around, and she found it. A book!

The Skill of Mixing Magical Arts

This book teaches you how to use the interface for the skill you are about to learn.

First of all, please be aware one should be fully knowledgeable in the intricacies and techniques of Mixing Magical Arts. Secondly, please note that a fee of gold will automatically be paid to The Gymnasium upon creation of a new skill.

The interface is simple…

She conveniently quick read the whole thing and went to look at her new interface of making new skills.

You have been awarded the skill Mixing Magical Arts!

This skill has no further benefits.

Opening the new skill in her interface, she found that it had already given her options of skills that she could make with the ones she has. There were a few alterations to her Stone skill, basically giving her the ability to summon a stone inside of Water Blast, or have a stone drop where she cast Lighting Bolt.

If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

That was good to know, but it seems that the skills combined together simply, too simply. But the best were when you could combine Blast skills.

She found that other skills, besides strictly Elemental Magic, could be combined as well. Fireball could be combined with Ball Lightning to make a good one where the spell would act like Electricity and zap to anyone standing nearby.

That was something she bought immediately. 400 gold gone.

You have just learned the skill Electric Fireball (tier 5)

It’s just like a Fireball, but better… What? Yeah, it hones in, like real fast.

Send a ball of fire that will snap to a grounded target.

Costs:

100 MP

Gives:

+5 Mana (per rank)

+5 Wisdom: Attack: Elemental

She even saw that some of her Psychic skills could be combined, making Water Blast into a Confusing Water Blast… if that wasn’t already the case. But it actually might work, every time the spell is cast, the enemy gets confused. But for 300 gold…

She decided against it for now, checking what other skills she could combine.

There was another one, the Buffs section, where she could combine buffs and cast one Buff, instead of five. That was handy.

She quickly put together her favorites, and a few more. Mana Fortitude, Melee Combat, Energy Enhancer, Phoenix Skin and Nightwalker. That would do the trick, make her unbeatable… that was only 750 gold, and the combined Mana cost would be… 230 MP. Ehh. Not too bad considering all those in one Buff.

Her options allowed her to lessen a skill’s effect, and to any degree, but not increase, and they didn’t stack. (You can’t combine the same skill twice.) This was how to get the right ratio to maximize the MMA effect. The difference between boiling water and lukewarm water.

Additionally, it was noted here that only this skill, as in any other MMA skill, would rank up when casting it. (None of the individual skills would rank up.) Which had its pros and cons.

In the end of the formidable reminders and notes, she settled with every skill 100% and bought it. 750 gold down, 11k to go.

And one more note… There wasn’t any name for this new Buff of hers, so she had to invent a name. After a minute she came up with a good one.

You have just learned the skill {The Killer} Custom Buff (mixed tiers)!

This buff is a five in one. Combining Mana Fortitude, Melee Combat, Energy Enhancer, Phoenix Skin and Nightwalker.

Costs:

230 MP

Gives:

+4 HP (per rank)

+4 SP (per rank)

+14 MP (per rank)

+3 Wisdom: Buffs: Enhance: Attack (per rank)

+3 Wisdom: Buffs: Recovery/Fortify: Stamina (per rank)

-1 Solidity: Detectable: Attack (per rank)

+2 Wisdom: Buffs: Recovery/Fortify: Mana (per rank)

+1 Wisdom: Buffs: Enhance: Elemental (per rank)

+1 Wisdom: Defense: Passive (per rank)

+1 Wisdom: Attack: Elemental (per rank)

Looking at the rest of the available MMA skills, the only good ones were the Water and Electric skill, and Fireball that would combine well.

Water and Electric would create some versions of ionized water, nothing more effective than a few extra tingling points of damage given. They didn’t work well simultaneously, only consecutively.

Fireball, mixed with Water Blast was spectacular! Toning down the Water Element just a bit, you could get a whole lot of boiling water, producing a 2nd degree burn debuff which would lay on continual damage and slow the opponent down. She got that one immediately. 400 gold…

Boiling Water Blast (tier 5)

Fire mixed with water does some interesting things… hot water, and very hot it is.

Deliver a scalding blast of water hurtling towards your opponent.

Costs: 150 MP (variable)

Gives:

+MP 5 (per rank)

+5 Mana (per rank)

+5 Wisdom: Attack: Elemental (per rank)

There was another one though, the one about throwing a flaming baseball sized rock…

Flaming Rock (tier 3)

Costs:

50 Mana

Gives:

+3 Mana (per rank)

+3 Wisdom: Attack: Elemental

Then another caught her eye. Mixing summoned creatures?

Electric and Water Specter, Life and Electric… she pondered that thought… combing Elements of summoned creatures?

Ok, summoning an ionized Water Spirit didn’t sound all that great… unless it could water first and zap later. She checked out the proposed skill. It would basically turn out to be a water spirit that would be immune to electric attacks and give some electric damage.

But wait, maybe she could combine them all…

That would actually be about 3000 gold…

It would work! A Life creature with Water and Electric Damage. Alright, that would be a super beast!

And it was so super, she could give it a personal name…

Summon Water and Electric Life Creature {Mother} (tier 5)

This is a creature of combined Elemental magic. Based on the form of a Life Creature, possessed of the Elemental Magic of Electric and Water.

Costs:

100 MP (minimum)

Gives:

+5 Mana (per rank)

+5 Wisdom: Summoning: Creatures

That was all the spells she could combine, at the moment, unless she wanted to add Confuse or Paralyze to any of her skills. Which she didn’t.

With that she was ready to try out her new skills.

It was now five o’clock in the morning and it didn’t look like anyone was going to show up anytime soon… so, she went to the training room, now in semidarkness.
