11 Life, Electricity and Water (part I)

Day 11 Default 5

After the makeover at GEM, the next plan of action was to get as many new skills as possible.

KillPrinsX stood in the middle of the Elemental school district tapping her foot, wondering where to start. Well, where to start wasn’t the hardest choice. The hardest choice is where to go after she’s loaded up with Life magic and summoning skills. Those were apparently the skills that would best be engaged by her new staff, the Serious Magic Staff of the Essence of Sharaz.

She looked at Charlotte, who had been happily following her wherever she went. “What do you think? Life magic, summoning spells, and then what?”

“Hmmm…” Charlotte thought it over as well, “I’d say, go with poison, but there doesn’t seem to be that element. After that, I don’t know, maybe Air magic, Water, Earth. They seem to augment poison in one way or another.”

KillPrinsX dwelled on what she could do, coupling her Neurotoxin with other magic. Poisonous gas clouds, poison water, poison stones…

The other factor was how much gold she would have left after splurging in the Life magic skills shop.

She stopped thinking about it and looked at what she could get.

Before she even walked in, she hesitated. The shop was utterly flaming, very girly, and childish. Is that how Life magic looks like in this game? Childish anime…

She shook her head to shake the thoughts away and an NPC greeted her.

“You’re looking to find some happiness in the Longevity Research Lab?”

KillPrinsX hesitated, not ready to answer that question. “Umm, I guess. Does it really have to be so… happy?”

“It is whatever your mind sees it to be. If you think Life magic is stuffed animals, unicorns and rainbows, or successful business, flourishing cities, then that is what you see.”

“I see Hello Kitty,” she said flatly.

“Then that is Life,” the little NPC guy stated firmly.

She wondered about the legitimacy of his previous statement. Maybe it was just some programmers joke of biased magical preferences.

She shook her head again, mentally prepared herself, and raced over to the singing stuffed animals waiting for her.

“Enjoy your visit to the Longevity Research Lab!”

Walking in, she stared at the board of spells, ignoring any and every attempt of glittery sunshine and rainbows to distract her from her mission.

The lady at the counter informed her, “At your current level you can buy any spell.”

KillPrinsX nodded, keeping her eyes locked on the board, though glad that she didn’t have any level restrictions now.

Here’s what the available spells look like in Life Magic.

You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author.

Healing: Bursts to beams of Life energy, Tiers 1-5.

Defense: External shields of Life energy, Tiers 1-5.

Shield: Life Magic Mana shield.

Summoning: Summons a Life creature, from the size of a firefly to a large animal, various, Tiers 1-5.

Manipulation: Various spells funneling ambient Life Magic, Health, Stamina, and Mana storage, Manipulation of live creatures.

Hold, Life Magic doesn’t do any damage. So… there’s no real attacks in life magic?… You have to get really creative here, summon a bear of Life energy… Well it’s not all that bad, there’s always a good occupation in being a healer. But that’s not going to win her the tournament.

She kept her eyes glued to the board, trying to make a few good choices. She’s not playing in a team, so a straight healing beam is out. Life defense might be useful, especially for Death magic. A Life shield, maybe, for the same reason. Summoning creatures may be an option. She read the description:

Summon Life Creature (tier 5)

This spells summons a large animal to fight by your side. The creature is made of Life energy and can be used to siphon HP, SP, or MP from itself to you or other players.

Costs:

100 MP minimum

Gives:

Summons large Life creature

+3 HP per rank

+2 SP per rank

+2 HP per rank

+5 Wisdom: Summoning: Creatures

It really wasn’t a bad skill at all, being able to be used as reserve resources, and as a summoned creature.

She bought it. 500 gold bye-bye.

The next skill she checked out was Electric Manipulation. They seemed to be a type of energy ball that would condense and store HP points for later use, a fantastic way to get saved at the last minute. And they could also be used for Stamina and Mana. She was leaning more towards the Mana one.

Mana Capsule (tier 5)

Having just run out of Mana, on the edge of winning a battle, spells being cast faster than anyone has ever seen before, and you have to wait those crucial seconds before the MP ticks up dreadfully slow. But wait, you have Mana waiting for you! A little capsule filled with your heart’s desire.

The Mana capsule at tier 5 will hold 500 MP for later use, and will increase at a rate of 5 Mana per second. This skill is void against factors that decrease Mana costs and has a fixed casting cost.

Costs:

500 MP (fixed)

Gives:

5 MP (per rank)

+5 Wisdom: Manipulation: Life (per rank)

That is something, really something.

She’s gunna have to get it. 500 gold, cha-ching.

Additionally, in Manipulation were the skills making one able to actually manipulate other life units… what? So OP.

Life Manipulation (tier 5)

This skill gives one the ability to move a live creature or player in the direction you choose. This ability’s result is heavily swayed by the mutual intentions between one’s self and the other. This tier 5 skill enables a great difference between those factors, though will is always a factor. Being adept in Life Magic and Psychic type skills augments this ability towards greater control of the other.

Costs:

50 MP per second

Gives:

5 MP (per rank)

+5 Wisdom: Manipulation: Life (per rank)

That is seriously OP’d. That with her insanely decreased Mana usage… 500 gold gone.

That looks like everything there is in this shop. Getting loaded up with tier 5 skills anywhere would make anyone happy. (Unless it was all that sunshine and rainbows getting to her.) And she skipped out of the shop, trying not to act like a glitter anime girl… it wouldn’t look right in the ninja mage outfit.

And now she was back, standing in the center of the Elemental School District, wondering what other elements would best suit her.

“Did you come up with any good ideas?” she asked Charlotte.

The was no hesitation, “Electricity and Water.”

“Not a bad idea, of course I would’ve been happy to take any suggestion. But what makes you think that?”

“You already have Fire and Earth, though you don’t seem to like the Earth Magic, so that’s what’s left.”

“Yeah,” KillPrinsX thought it over, “well, Dark and Death magic is left.” There was also Air, but she can already run and jump; Ice, it would only counteract her Fireballs.

“But your new staff would probably put a negative effect towards using Dark or Death.” Charlotte said, knowing too much.

It was a good point.

Decision made. Water and Electricity.

So, when in doubt, ask a spider…
