07 Trolls (part I)

Day 10 Default 5

KillPrinsX woke up safely in her new coffin, no sunlight burning her face, the sun had just gone down and everything seemed to be just perfect after such an occasion, having won the big fight with the Werewolves.

She took the lid off of her newly christened coffin and started browsing through the Lucretius Clan page, looking for the upcoming missions for the day. As was already planned, there was a mission to kill a pair of Trolls just north of here, a three star mission, and a mission to handle a Giant that had seemed to have lost it’s way, ranking in at a six star mission… they only went to five.

She got out of bed, chewed on a few pieces of Neurotoxic elk steaks, and got with Else.

“We’ll have to meet everyone,” Else told her, “they should be outside now. Come.”

Charlotte followed outside, giving everyone a fright. KillPrinsX quickly explained that it was her pet, and that she has full control over her, and that she, Charlotte, is a very good fighter, actually taking two of the Werewolves in the last battle.

She met the team, Analyzing them as they introduced themselves.

Brun0156 - Level 34 - Vampire Tank

$Amelia$AA$ - Level 47 - Vampire Mage

100Tirade001 - Level 57 - Vampire Warrior

She greeted them heartily. They went by Bruno, Amelia, and Tirade, respectively. KillPrinsX wouldn’t give her real life name. But someone had already given her the name of Princess, which stuck, even after a death threat from herself.

She was truly grateful to be around such high level players, even Else had leveled up recently and was already Level 58, a great deal higher than the others, but as a Vampire Scout. Being sneaky and powerful, seems to train one to stay out of serious trouble while gaining XP.

They agreed on handling the Trolls first, and Giant later. Amelia had prepared potions, as a proper potions master, and taken vials of Werewolf blood and even stocked a large amount of Human blood too, along with some animal blood, and various classes of player’s blood. For Vampires, blood could do almost anything a normal potion could do, as long as you knew what creatures to take from. Amelia stocked more than half of her inventory with blood potions, a few regular and a few less advanced potions were included though they didn’t give nearly as much HP to a Vampire as blood does.

Bruno and Tirade were well equipped with a sword each, a few daggers, and various weapons that could be used in case of a break. “You never know what a Troll’s or Giant’s skin will do to a blade. Be careful and be ready,” Tirade said as he examined his weapons and vanished them back to his inventory.

Else had even brought a weapon. It was a ball and chain type. One with a very long chain but no piercing end, it was supposed to be able to carry various spells and trigger upon impact, greatly increasing damage.

They waited and stared at Princess, waiting for her to show that she was ready. She had left that huge Greatsword of Weeping in the cottage and only had her bone daggers. So she pulled one out and showed it off, twisting it around in the air. None of them seemed too pleased. Tirade, who was stocked up to the gills handed over a pair of steel daggers. They weren’t very special, just steel daggers, but in his mind, the more the merrier.

Amelia asked if a few daggers was really all that she had. Princess was forced to show her teeth. The rest laughed. She cast Summon Mist, and they raised an eyebrow. And finally, when they still didn’t look satisfied, she pointed to Charlotte, who was cleaning herself, and summoned a drop of Neurotoxin on a dagger. They shrugged, somewhat pleased.

Ready to go, Else led them up north to meet the Trolls.

It was a long walk. Sprinting, Bolting and Rushing through the trees, they were still only as fast as Bruno, who could only dash a few yards at a time. It was a good two hours before they had found the location of the Trolls.

Now it was only a matter of finding the Trolls.

They had run up to a steep hill with a good number of caves to search through.

“What do we do?” Amelia asked, “spread out and search?”

“No,” said Else. “We’ll stay together, I don’t doubt any of us could take on a Troll, but with these kind of quests we need to stay together for a few reasons. One, the Trolls may have pets, or there may be more than two. And secondly, we need to stick together to get the quest XP.”

Tirade stepped forward, “So, besides looking through all these caves, and I know they aren’t small, anyone have any bright ideas?”

“Trolls are supposed to be lured by fire, right?” KillPrinsX asked.

“Very true, but we don’t really want fire in this equation, do we? We’re Vampires.”

“Well, I do have a few fire spells,” KillPrinsX said, “and even my Phoenix Skin buff didn’t harm me when I fought the Werewolves, and that’s fire.”

Else didn’t seem to like the idea, but the others were ready for it.

“Fire! Fire!” Bruno chanted, egging her on.

Else seemed to have given in, making a face. “Fine,” she said. “We’ll all stand over here and you can set fire to something… And,” she added in her nice voice, “if we all default from fire damage, I’m going to find you and kill you three times over. Okay?”

KillPrinsX gave a feeble smile and let them get their distance.

She targeted a solitary tree and cast Fireball. The tree caught fire and started burning, fire rising up and up. The light was incredible. With her Vampire night vision, it was really starting to light everything up in an odd way. If Trolls also have night vision, she thought, no wonder they want to stamp it out… it’s so obnoxious.

She too stepped back, avoiding the blinding light. And just in time. A huge club came spinning out of a cave and hit the tree, nearly knocking it over, but catching fire to the club as well, hitting the ground and rolling to set another tree on fire.

Else and the others were backing up even farther now. KillPrinsX lagged far behind, but they were running away!

They were actually trying to take cover and get advantage for the upcoming fight with the Trolls now spilling out of the caves. Not one or two, but a whole family!

A few had come over and were punching the flaming tree, catching fire to their fists, while more were coming to join them. There were a few smaller ones, children, no doubt. But then out came a couple of ginormous Trolls.

She used Analyze on the big ones.

Dungbat - Level 80 - Grandfather Forest Troll

Dingbut- Level 80 - Grandmother Forest Troll

She didn’t need to tell the others what level these two Trolls were. The looks on their faces already said that they knew it.

Dungbat went over to the tree, pushed aside the other Trolls with a rude gesture and lifted it out of the ground with a series of grunts that said, “This is how you do it, you idiots.” He then proceeded to throw the tree at the hillside, putting his hands on his hips, only emphasizing what he had just grunted.

Else had already come up with a plan and started casting a spell, the same one she had used before on the Forest Troll.

Balls of energy slowly soared off towards the Trolls. She conjured more and more while giving orders. “Bruno and Tirade, double up and take on the larger ones. Amelia, take some out from a distance before moving in, you know what to do. Princess, handle the smaller ones first. And everyone, watch out for those energy balls, there’s no friendly fire, and that goes for everyone’s attacks.”

They all complied. Bruno and Tirade ran off to the nearest Troll and started hacking and slashing, doing some serious damage, but no kill yet, even after a number of good hits. The Troll had only been hit down once and got up quickly, only beginning to get angry.

Amelia circled around the fray to get a few good shots in with magic missiles and other spells.

Else had gone in and started throwing her ball and chain around, giving fast and powerful Mana enhanced hits, keeping her distance and luring one Troll away from the others.

KillPrinsX ran into the conglomeration of Trolls fast, targeting a smaller one and running up with her pair of Bone Daggers coated with Neurotoxin. She slammed then into the baby Troll and kept running, summoning another drop of Neurotoxin onto the daggers, locating another small one, chasing him around, between legs, dodging sword strikes and magic missiles, and finally getting close enough to jump and give another critical hit with the poisoned daggers, into the throat.

She ran off and out of the danger zone.

It was really mayhem! Magic spells being cast all around, whipping sword strikes covering a good five yard area. She looked for the smaller Trolls she had hit. They were still standing, or at least sitting and trying to get up. One had even looked like it was trying to screw its head back on.

She order Charlotte to get in there, carefully, and finish them off.

KillPrinsX went in and tried to give another good hit… she managed to dodge, but one Troll had sideswiped her with a tree trunk and she flew across the field. She rolled and looked at her health, it had plummeted to below half, nearly a fatal blow, half health gone.

She stood up and frantically started using Bloodsucker to get some HP back. It worked a bit, but getting in close enough without getting hit again was tricky.

She tried the Vampire special… Nightwalker. Jump and Bite! That did the trick, she jumped to another, coupling it with Bloodsucker.

Soon the Trolls we’re watching for her. All they could see was a human body clinging to one of their fellow Trolls and then a flash and she was onto another. The Trolls found this interesting and tried swatting at her like a fly.

They hardly stood a chance now that she was in the zone. None of them were fast enough to actually catch her, or even hit her when she was sucking their blood. Maybe from the stun effect when she bit them.

She went around and around, Biting and Bloodsucking. It took a while, but some were starting to drop.

Then Else had finished off her own Troll and came over to help get in a few hits. Amelia was sending spells their way too. It was working.

But there were still the two giant Trolls that Tirade and Bruno were fighting. The outcome was still unpredictable. Tirade had taken some hits, and so had Bruno, but the Trolls were bleeding badly and still standing, fighting.

Else shouted over the chaos, “Amelia, send them some potions!”

She complied, running over and handing off a few potions as Tirade and Bruno retreated momentarily.

The battle continued, and so did KillPrinsX’s Bite Combo, getting up to fifty and counting.

Finally they got some motion, a few more Trolls dropped.

Else broke her combo and went to grab a potion from Amelia. Her Stamina was low and Mana had been low for quite a while. She had manage to use MP Leech a few times to keep her Mana from bottoming out. But now it was out, and she needed a refill.

While gulping down the potion, she took a glance at the Trolls still standing. Charlotte had gotten the two baby Trolls, Else had finished off the one she lured off and killed another that KillPrinsX had started, and was working on another. Tirade and Bruno were still on the Grandparent Trolls and looked like they might actually make it through alive. Amelia continued her spells, chugging a Mana potion every few seconds just to keep up with her magic usage.

KillPrinsX took another potion with her and went back to help Else, coating her daggers with Neurotoxin.

The closest Troll had its back to her and she got a good sneak attack in, jumping up and jabbing the Troll in the neck. She didn’t wait to see what happened, she got another one just as good and went around on another Bite-Bloodsucker combo.

There weren’t too many left, only two still standing after the Neurotoxin attack. Those two, Else had finished off with a few adept and very well delivered attacks.

The last two had fallen right away. KillPrinsX falling into the smoke and coins as it burst and died, but the body lay limp and cold, able to be looted, or harvested for blood.

But, Tirade and Bruno were still going. They had still taken too many hits and were out gulping potions again. Dungbat and Dingbut still standing, raging like… demented Trolls. Their arms swung and they moved violently, with very long range arms. This was not a fight for up close melee combat, but they did it.

So far the only one still doing damage was Amelia, who was casting spells from far away.

Else had tried but failed with her ball and chain, now casting her energy ball spell.

Well, now, the only thing KillPrinsX could do was think about throwing a knife, or even a stone… wait, of course! Fireball! Else wouldn’t like it, but it would be the biggest distraction…

She did it anyways. Enhancing herself with Phoenix Skin and targeting the closer one.

The Fireballs had quite the effect on the Trolls. They stopped their attacks and reeled back, trying to find where the fire came from.

KillPrinsX froze, about to cast another, but finding two ginormous sets of eyes glaring upon her. She couldn’t stop now… Fireball!

She managed another two hits before she was hefted up by Dingbut and swung around like a rag doll, then punched like a toddler smashing an action figure.

She took way too much damage… she could hardly think… Else had once said that you can’t blame it on the debuffs, just because you have a headache, you are still in control… Bloodsucker…! She regained some health… if only she could land one good hit… she summoned a Stone… she was being shaken up and down… Bite!… Focus on a pressure point… Throw the stone!

She threw it… and Dingbut stopped dead falling over. The stone had hit! She killed it!

She tumbled to the ground just in time to see Bruno, Tirade, Else, and Amelia up close and just having finished a number of attacks.

“Great distraction Princess. That’s all we needed. A break from the onslaught. We all powered up and gave him our worst.”

She was confused, actually. The Stone…? She threw it at the last moment…

“Lookout, second one is running in hot!”

Dungbat was running, actually sprinting and coming over to crush them all in one fell bellyflop.

KillPrinsX got out of there as fast as possible, Psychic Evade coming in useful once again, actually twice.

They had all scattered and Dungbat fell onto the bare ground.

The Vampire team came in once more to deliver their final and fatal blow. Four spot on attacks, KillPrinsX shooting another Fireball, the last Troll down.
