Day 9 Default 5
Else watched as KillPrinsX climbed out of the well.
“What took you so long?” Else said, leaning against a wall, looking like she was about to fall asleep. “I didn’t think hair dying took as long as it take IRL.”
Before she replied, KillPrinsX though about everything that had happened. Afraid of what Else may think. The voice of their Lord, his waiting for her, that she was the one — that she’ll be the one to bring the Vampires to glory. She felt like that would only make Else jealous. She kept it quiet and said, “There was a whole thing about stats and skills. I took my time and chose wisely.”
“I hope you did. At least you followed instructions and got black hair. It suits you.”
“Thanks,” KillPrinsX said, giving her hair a flip.” Else rolled her eyes.
“He gave me a quest,” KillPrinsX said. “I have to…”
“Go and ransack a village and bring the leader back here? Yeah. That’s the first one. I think we’ll let you do that before you come and help on the next big one.”
They stood there for a moment.
“So, go on. Go ransack a village.” Else said.
“Uhh. Ok. Two questions. Where the closest village? And are you coming with me?”
“No I’m not coming with you,” Else stated flatly. “It’s your own quest. And you should look on your map. There’s a few villages with different population counts. I wouldn’t want a failure to lead back to me.”
So she looked at her map and found a few villages. Hardly any were in the dark part of the forest, Waylaid Village was one of them. There were a few others with roughly the same population, below fifty.
It wasn’t a hard decision, Waylaid Village was close enough, and she had already scoped it out.
More than enough time before sunrise. She started walking.
“Hurry up!” Else yelled.
KillPrinsX jumped as something burst on her rear end. Using Bolt, she zoomed out of the Vampire village and into the forest.
She made it to Waylaid Village in less than a hour. Charlotte still being able to keep up. She knew where most of the houses and stores were, and that nobody was out, this shouldn’t be a hard mission.
She strolled into the main street, hardly seeing anyone but a few guards.
Maybe she could ask for directions to the village leader’s house…
She walked up to one of the village guards. He jumped and took a stance.
“Halt! Vampire, state your business here!”
“I’ve come to look for the village leader.” She said, a bit feebly, but nonetheless, stating her true purpose.
He took a look at her pet spider and glanced back up at KillPrinsX, scanning her black hair, dark eyes with a red glint, and finally locked onto her pointed fangs. “You will not have him!” The guard yelled, raising a whistle to his mouth, sounding the alarm.
Instantly, ten guards showed up out of nowhere and surrounded her. “Come quietly or we will be forced to use violence.”
That’s not how these things go.
She too took a stance and said, “Die you foolish humans.”
She cast Summon Mist and Nightwalker simultaneously.
Mist came out from the ground, giving her the feeling that something bad might happen. A prompt appeared, telling her about the Buff she had just cast.
You have learned the skill Nightwalker (tier 2 Buff)!
Vampires. The true Nightwalkers. But what makes them different from anyone else taking a stroll at night? They suck blood, take innocent bystanders. Swiftly moving through the dark, unsuspecting flesh bags of blood succumb to their terror, if mere terror is what you want. Hunger drives you, fear is left in your wake. Nightwalker defines you.
Swift and agile, take out enemies without them seeing you.
Stolen content warning: this tale belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences elsewhere.
Nightwalker (tier 2 Buff) doubles one’s physical Agility, doubles the Bite skill’s damage, and allows for quick combo attacks, jumping from one victim to the next rapidly without being seen.
Costs:
20 MP for 10 minutes
Gives:
2x Agility
2x Damage to the skill Bite
Unseen while attacking in combo.
She rapidly scanned the prompt, just trying to learn what that skill meant. It seems good.
But even in that second the guards had already heard her loud mouth and they were attacking her!
She jumped to the closest guard coming down on her with an axe. She got in close and bit him on the neck, jumped to the next and bit him.
It was so easy! She had them now.
She kept jumping and biting. Once bitten most of them fell to the ground and were trying to scream, “She’s a Vampire!” “I’ve been bitten!”
She got them all in a nice 12X Combo. But none of them had died yet, she hadn’t actually sucked their blood. But they seemed to be very dramatic rolling on the ground for the low amount of damage actually done. What a nice effect.
Charlotte had found one and pounced, immobilizing him instantly, and began feeding.
She finished a few with Bloodsucker, sending them off with screams and pleas for mercy, and since Mana was low now, guards having more than 50 HP, she pulled out a bone dagger and finished them off.
But she left one…
She crouched down beside the man and put her face next to his, “This was more fun than I thought. Now please, tell me where the village leader lives.”
“I won’t! I’ll…”
His screamed were stopped as she put her teeth into his neck and drank the blood.
A prompt opened once she was out of immediate battle.
You have learned the skill Bite (tier 1)!
Seriously those guys are so annoying. What are you going to do? Maybe a good punch? No. A nice kick in the ass? No. Bite them!
As a Vampire, Bite stuns the enemy and make him fall to the ground, unconscious for a few seconds.
Costs:
1 SP
Gives:
+1 Strength: Push: Bite
You have drank the blood of a Human.
Health restored by: 0 HP (Health is full)
You crave more.
She did crave more. But it’ll have to wait…
But there’s someone she might want to visit.
She found the old sign of a cow in front of a shop and went in, using a key from the guard’s belt.
She crept up the stairs and found the bedroom.
“This is what you get for ripping me off.”
You have drank the blood of a Human.
Health restored by: 0 HP (Health is full)
You crave more.
The cravings will have to wait.
She went back outside and found the village leader’s house, went in and found his bedroom.
This might be harder than she thought. She’d have to somehow not kill him and take him alive to Lord Lucretius.
She bit his neck and took a few sips. The man jolted as he woke and faded back into darkness, muttering to himself.
Then she cast a spell. Enthrall.
You have learned the skill Enthrall (tier 5)
There’s hardly a worse feeling when you tell someone to do something and they just won’t do it. No worries. When you have this spell they won’t even know what noncompliance is. In fact, the only thing they do is whatever you want.
Enthrall makes another person do whatever you ask them to. Spell last for approximately 1 hour, depending on the enthralled person’s resistance to such attacks.
Costs:
100 MP
Gives:
3 HP
2 MP
+3 Wisdom: Attack: Psychic
+2 Intelligence: Awareness: Others
“Stand up,” she said. The man stood up.
Good, this might be easier than she thought.
“Follow me.”
She walked downstairs and the man followed her. She looked back, just to make sure.
She got down to the door and opened it. But, what she found, she didn’t expect.
Half the town, which was like twenty people, was standing there with pitchforks and torches. As soon as she registered it, they screamed.
“AAAAAHHHH!!!”
“KILL THE VAMPIRE!!!”
KillPrinsX did what she knew best. She cast Bloodsucker at the closest person, which made him drop to his knees, cast Confuse on the next few and then took a second to realize that she could probably do some serious AOE damage.
Next attack, Fireball!
Now the crowd was sufficiently dispersed. She attacked with Bite. Her few minutes left on Nightwalker allowed her to chain her attacks, and soon enough all twenty people were on the ground.
But some started to get up, a little hazy, but the effect of Bite had started to wear off.
Then, one man, who seemed to have overcome the fear effects, began charging like a maniac and coming right for her!
Charlotte leapt and nailed the guy right in the face with her poisoned fangs. He tried to swing, but all it did was make him spin violently as he throttled into the ground twitching and finally succumbing.
Otherwise, looking at her own prey, Bite didn’t do too much damage, she’d have to go around and take their blood… Duh, she went to Bite the other and cast Bloodsucker at the same time. The whole effect changed!
As soon as she bit, using Bloodsucker devastated them! A bit more Mana, but in the long run, it was much less.
Mana was getting low already, not much, but in case the other half of the town wanted to wake up she might not make it. So she used Mana Leech on a few more and finished them with Bloodsucker and her handy bone knife.
KillPrinsX found that everyone down, was out. Then looking at the door she had just come out of, found the village leader still standing there, looking like he was having a nice stroll in the middle of his sleep.
“Follow me!” She said, and walked out and led him back to the Vampire village.
Halfway through he seemed to wake up, but it didn’t matter. He screamed and tried to run for his life, after seeing a dog sized spider, evading KillPrinsX and Charlotte simultaneously, doubling back a few times…
KillPrinsX cast Enthrall once more, making him her bitch once more.
“Follow me,” she said again, happy as ever, and the three of them continued their stroll.
She had made it back with just enough time. More than a few hours before sunrise.
“Into the well,” She said, and he climbed down. She led him deeper, into the room of Lord Lucretius.
