They hurried over to the The Pool, the school for Water magic.
She ran past the NPC that had jumped up when he saw her coming, and opened the door.
It looked exactly like an outdoor swimming pool, with the reception being a small hut where you could buy skills. A few players were wading in the water testing out a few of those Water Magic skills.
She watched the players casting, conjuring water and sending it spraying at the other… until one of them had manipulated a wave so big that both of them were tossed around and ended up outside the pool, with water flooding the whole place.
Wading through the receding knee deep flood, KillPrinsX went to look at what kind of spells she could buy.
The Water Magic spells were sorted by class.
Attack: Conjures water in midair to be thrown at an enemy, Tiers 1-5.
Defense: Conjures water to aid in defending oneself from attacks, Tiers 1-5.
Shield: Summons a shield of Water magic.
Summoning: Summons water beasts to attack for you, Tiers 1-5.
Manipulation: Allows one to manipulate surrounding water, Tier 1-5
Alright, she’s looking at some good basic skills in Water magic. She chose all of them, Tier 5.
Water Blast (tier 5)
You now have the ability to summon a large amount of water and blast it at your enemies. They’ll be delighted to know what it feels like to be under attack from a fire hose.
As this skill is tier 5, you are able to regulate the flow of water up to 100 MP per second, hold and charge the attack for a longer duration while the strength of attack will be held at a maximum.
Costs:
100 MP per second
Gives:
5 MP (per rank)
+5 Wisdom: Attack: Water (per rank)
Water Defense (tier 5)
When under attacked, don’t worry about rogue attacks, fire, and a load of other things, you have Water Defense!
This skill summons a large amount of water to shield you from anything that may come your way. Though keep in mind that water is still susceptible to freezing, boiling, conducting electricity, and will still drown one when the water is possessed by another…
Costs:
100 MP
Gives:
3 HP (per rank)
2 MP (per rank)
+5 Wisdom: Defense: Liquid (per rank)
Water Shield (tier1)
Water Shield is similar to your everyday Mana Shield, though is based on the Element of Water. This shield will stop most water attacks from giving direct damage, and protects you 1:1 on a MP to Damage ratio.
Costs:
Variable MP
Gives:
1 HP (per rank)
1 MP (per rank)
+1 Wisdom: Defense: Shield (per rank)
Summon Water Spirit (tier 5)
Sometimes a normal animal isn’t just enough, maybe you want one that drenches your enemy, douses that flame or just looks a bit prettier. Water spirits show up in various forms and strengths due to the skill’s variable Mana cost, but can be used in many ways.
Costs:
100 MP (average)
Gives:
+5 MP (per rank)
+5 Wisdom: Summoning: Creatures (per rank)
Water Manipulation (tier 5)
Unauthorized usage: this narrative is on Amazon without the author's consent. Report any sightings.
This skill is more of an art than anything. Water’s liquid aspect makes it that much more difficult to manipulate, needing far more concentration as one pushes and pulls the fabric of this Element.
With this tier 5 skill you will be able to move large amounts of water, though holding it in place is another thing entirely.
Costs:
50 MP per second
Gives:
+5 MP (per rank)
+5 Wisdom: Manipulation: Water (per rank)
Well, there goes 2100 gold. Very well spent!
Now, looking at the giant Olympic sized pool right next to her, she thought that she had better go and try these new skills out.
She waded through the water, cast a Mana Capsule, just for fun, knowing that even just testing skills will deplete Mana just as fast.
She tried her Water Manipulation skill first, just trying raise some water up and off the surface. It worked! But just like a flat surface, the water only rose and rolled off her AOE.
She tried it again, raising the water up and pushing just so, the water moved like it was being swirled in a cup. Then she pushed forwards and all the water she had been controlling sloshed forwards. It was quite an effect, the waves were working up to her chest. Maybe it wasn’t so impactful just training, but on a battlefield, that attack would have at least distracted someone, or cut their spell from being cast.
Anyways, looking at Mana usage; that was 4 seconds and 138 Mana. If it wasn’t for her staff, cutting the Mana cost down, it would have been 200 MP. Expensive!
She tried the Summoning spell next, Water Spirit, starting with 100 MP. She cast, waving her hand and staff in a fluid motion, and a sort of water blob rose up standing in the water. It had white specks for eyes, and a sort of watery flow to its texture, but for all that mattered, it was made of water.
She ordered it to attack. The Water Spirit looked around, and back to her and gave some shrugging type of motion.
KillPrinsX shook her head, we need something to practice on. She yelled out to one of the NPCs who seemed to be a lifeguard on duty. “Are there any CPUs we can attack?”
The life guard gave a thumbs up and blew his whistle. But at the same time a pair of crazy looking beach bums ran out of one of the huts and came straight for her!
Uh-oh! This wasn’t part of the plan…
“Attack!” She yelled to her Water Spirit.
It moved instantly, going over to intercept one of them. As soon as the beach bum was close enough, the Water Spirit lunged and surrounded the guy, causing him to float inside the Water Spirit. But the guy was taking damage. The Water Spirit shook and shook, causing more damage and more confusion debuff.
KillPrinsX watched, hoping to learn something from this experience, but the second beach bum was closing in on her already.
She nearly panicked, but this was the time she was practicing her skills.
She crouched a bit, held her staff close and pointed it at the bum. She cast Water Blast, holding the staff close as it charged for another second. She stabbed forward and fired! The resultant effect shot the beach bum across the pool and made him slide across the concrete.
That was one KO. She looked back to her summoned Water Spirit, as she witnessed the last shake and squeeze that finally killed the beach bum. 2 KOs!
Now, back to practice… she was just asking the lifeguard for some CPUs to fight with… Right. Those were the CPUs.
She checked her Mana. There was still plenty of MP, and it was regenerating surprisingly quickly.
“Send out some more CPUs!” She called.
Another whistle blow and two more beach bums came running.
This time she summoned Life Creature, which formed into a bear that was half swimming though the water.
Her Water Spirit was still around, and she order them both to attack those beach bums.
She watched for a moment as the Water Spirit did exactly the same thing as before, but the guy had managed to get out, running for a few seconds until hit from behind by a well shot blast of water, stunning him momentarily, and was recaptured, perpetually drowning once again.
The bear swam hastily over to the second beach bum and started pawing and gnashing his teeth. The beach bum stood no chance and was pushed under the water getting his head, very gruesomely, bit off.
She called again to send another round of enemies.
She called the two summoned creatures back and played with an idea. Maybe she could harness her creature’s powers herself.
She stood close to her Water Spirit and started charging a Water Blast. Then she ordered the Water Spirit to augment her attack, and it stepped in front of her and absorbed into the charging ball of water. Now her attack was huge! She had to hold her staff over her head and fire it, but it worked all the same. Water Blast completely annihilated the beach bum, sending him crashing into the hut he came out of, but then the Water Spirit didn’t give up. The bum was still surrounded by water, and by the looks of it, the Water Spirit was doing it’s signature move; capture and shake.
The second bum was coming closer. Her bear was getting anxious, but she told him to stand aside.
The bum came up and pulled out a piece of driftwood and pulled back to hit her.
KillPrinsX cast Water Defense just in time. The driftwood hit the floating defense and went right through it, slowing, but causing just about as much damage as it would have without the obstruction.
She stumbled in the water, and braced for the back swing, she dodged effectively and pushed the water forwards, causing the bum to fall backwards.
She didn’t try to finish him off, instead she motioned towards her bear to attack, and the bum was gone in a few seconds.
Her conclusion on Water Defense wasn’t settled yet. She called out to the lifeguard, “Do you have any CPUs with water based attacks?”
He blew his whistle, bubbles rose from the far side of the pool, and a pair of water-bodied mages rose and stood on top of the water.
Now this is going to be a good fight.
Her Water Defense was still on, and she charged her own Water Blast.
The Water Mages had seen the attack and summoned their own shields. The blast hit them, making some good waves, but only succeeded in making their defenses bigger! But that would mean the same for her.
She finalized her conclusion on that skill. It was water based, and water like water, only coheres to itself.
She sent the Water Spirit over to see what would happen while she dodged and absorbed a few of their minor Water Blasts. The Spirit attacked, tried to absorb one of them and was kicked off, sustaining damage, getting angry and firing a few blasts from itself.
She sent the bear over next. The Mages only summoned a few waves and ultimately halted the progress of the bear, it couldn’t swim farther without making too much backwards progress.
KillPrinsX was about to head out, having learned enough already, and not feeling up to trying to beat a Water Mage with water. But, she did have a few of her own spells.
She cast Phoenix Skin and the surrounding water started to agitate while vapor curled up around her body. She cast a Fireball, sending it off to hit one of the Mages square in the chest. His Water Defense stopped it, but sizzled out, gone into thin air.
She shot another Fireball and got through his defenses. The Water Mage vanished in a puff of steam!
The second Mage saw what had happened to his friend and noticeably took action. He started waving his hands in that familiar pattern of Water Manipulation.
Large waves stared to grow and come towards her.
She didn’t have enough Mana to cope with this, she mentally reached out to her Mana Capsule and refilled her Mana, with some to spare.
There wasn’t enough time to do anything about the tsunami sized wave coming her way… She took a good amount of damage being pummeled under water and hitting the floor, but had still managed to stand up and get her bearings.
Other than disoriented, she was at full Mana, and ready to fight.
She sent her own tsunami crashing down upon the Water Mage. He seemed to take some damage but had still been able to cope better than she had.
Next, she sent a Fireball as soon as the mage was standing up and hit him, another cloud of vapor…
That was enough for her. She felt well acquainted with her Water spells now.
She tipped an imaginary hat to the lifeguard on duty and headed off, Water Mages jeering at her to come back.
