They called a Quorum.
Specifically, it was Feara who started it, but then the other Gods joined in. The Minotaur Goddess expressed her concern over the safety of everyone who would be traveling to Kire this year for the global Adventurer’s Games. The last month of every year, Adventurers from all over the world gather outside of one city in a Ward and spend the entire month broadcasting their skills in combat against monsters and each other. There are lots of vendors and recruiters as well as a large number of Gods and Goddesses who want to watch the games in person.
Feara stated that there was major security concern given that the maximum security prison in Kire had been breached so badly that there were two gaping holes in the wall to the jail. Numerous guards and prisoners had died and there were still prisoners who’d gotten loose and hadn’t been found.
That had been enough to force Kire to the table to defend how safe his city was and to personally run through the setup and security for the entire event.Kire wasn’t just going to be busy for a week. He’d be bust the rest of the year.
I looked up from the news article that I’d been reading. I was sitting on some metal crates in the bunker and trying to relax. We weren’t going into the dungeon to fight since Kire was supposed to be busing us down to the floors we’d need to be on. It was a little dangerous to do that. Because while we might be able to farm on the forty-ninth floor, we couldn’t leave the Dungeon because we hadn’t cleared the rest of the floors in the forties. So if Kire decided to leave us, we’d be stranded until either someone came to rescue us, or we fought our way up to the forty-first floor. Just because we could beat the monsters on the forty-ninth floor didn’t mean that we could beat the level forty-eight floor boss.
I really didn’t want to trust Kire to come get us and had tried to convince Sipher to let us go into the Dungeon and push floors ourselves, but he refused to organize it and with only three of us, possibly four with Garlin, we weren’t going to beat any floor bosses.
The story has been illicitly taken; should you find it on Amazon, report the infringement.
“I don’t think Kire is going to make it.” I pointed at the article on my CB.
Nyssa came over to read it while Sipher shook his head. “The other Gods buried him in legalities, so he’s sending his high priest to observe how the item is used.”
“Is this High Priest going to be able to bus us?” Lace was sitting in a folding chair on the other side of the bunker. The Sands had taken off their outer robes and goggles to reveal that they all had black hair and green eyes.
“Sadly, he can’t take us straight there.” Sipher sighed. “He’s never been here, so we’re going to have to do it the old fashioned way.”
There were groans from every one of the Sands. They hadn’t been in this Dungeon either, so they were going to have to start at level one and have someone bus them to each boss.
“The Cobras have made it to forty-one, so we’ll start there.” Sipher looked at Lace. “What class are you missing?”
“Hitter.” The old man shook his head. “We brought everything else.”
“Splendid, that’s what we have an abundance of.” He looked over at us. “Garlin can go with them since he’s been that deep. Rishard will be here tomorrow, so we’ll have a healer.” Sipher tried to think. “I’ll see where Haley is…”
I watched him walk off and found that I was breathing easier than I had the last two days. Having Kire’s High Priest here was still dangerous for us, but we could keep what we were hidden from them. And it sounded like they were about the same level that we were.
I looked over at Nyssa. “Excited to get back into the Dungeon?”
“You can keep your excitement in the Dungeon.” She shook her head. “I’m just ready to get out of here.”
I watched her walk to the tunnel and start running. It was about the only thing to do without going into the Dungeon and farming on the lower levels. It was how most people made an honest living, but that wasn’t who she was. She didn’t want an easy fight. She wanted one like the raid boss we’d done on the fortieth floor. She wanted something to push her further.
She’d get that chance once the rest of the delegation arrived.
