It was bunnies.
The thirty-sixth floor was as deep as Garlin had scouted, which meant that we’d had to fight our way through the event floor to get to the floor boss from here on out and the first floor we had to fight on was full of bunnies.
More specifically, the extra monster on the thirty sixth floor was a Unilop. The rabbit-like monster had a horn between its ears and rows of sharp teeth. They also came up to my knee, so while they wouldn’t be able to kill someone outright, unless they were gored in the heart, the rabbits were still very dangerous.
It didn’t help that they had a harness over their fur that covered their spine and came down their sides to project the spaces between their ribs. It was almost impossible to stab one, which left us having to side step them when they charged, then slicing the harness behind their neck. This usually reduced the monster to smoke and left behind the crystal, but it also meant that I was the main one taking care of them. Brute had his shield up to protect Cass and Gall, while Nyssa patrolled by their side with her daggers in hand. That left myself and Garlin as the ones to deal with the Unilops, which, thanks to this being an event floor, were spawning in groups of six along with a brown and black speckled cat that was about the same size as the first floor boss.
Nyssa and Gall were handling the cats, which allowed me to focus on the jumping horn and teeth. Unilops were very popular, not just for their hide, but also because their harness was made out of material based on what type they were. These were Rock Unilops, so most of what we were seeing was just regular stone, but we’d bagged two marble ones and a crystal one by the time we reached the door to the floor boss.
We took a break to compose ourselves and prepare for the boss fight. The information that we had about the Dungeon said that the feline inside was built like the cats we’d fought so far, but had a horn and outer harness like the Unilops. Which didn’t sound too bad until I saw that the size of the thing had its shoulders at six feet tall. I knew that monsters got bigger the deeper we went, but that seemed like a big jump.

“Are we ready?’ Garlin started to go through the door that was full of nothing but darkness. No one objected, so he walked inside.
Nyssa and Gall followed, but Cass looked like she was waiting for me.
“After you.” I motioned at the door.
“I was going to stay in the back.” She smirked. “Like a Healer should.”
She may have started out with her main stat being Recovery, but I doubted that was the case anymore.
“It’s okay. I’ll make sure that we’re covered.” I nodded at Brute. “Anyway, shouldn’t the tank go in first?”
Cass smiled and the green woman strutted through the door with Brute right behind her.
I took a deep breath then walked inside.
It was dark as usual, but almost as soon as I was in, it lit up. Since Gall was the party leader, he was able to see when we were all in the boss room, then he could light it up.
The boss prowled out of a cave in the back and almost immediately focused on Brute. I was a little surprised that it had purple fur with black spots, not brown like all the cats we’d fought on the floor, but I guessed that it was because of the random nature of the Unilops. The harness itself looked like it was made out of crystal, as was the horn. I moved to the side to flank it as it charged at Brute, then lowered its head to ram our tank. Once it bounced off his shield, Garllin and I would cut off the harness behind its neck.
Except the horn didn’t bounce off the shield, it pierced it and punched through the armor over his left shoulder. Brute was level thirty-nine, so he shouldn’t have been overwhelmed like this, but the wound was enough to break his concentration and the Tank lost his footing and started being driven back.
Garlin and I both slashed at the harness and both of our swords bounced off the crystal. We both jumped back as we realized what we were dealing with. My Tier Four sword had the Rock Piercer enchantment, so against almost any type of Tier Three rock, I shouldn’t have a problem. There was one rock that was hard enough that I wouldn’t be able to cut it, but the chance of running into one of those as a floor boss was so low that it was considered impossible.
Impossible turned and charged at me, with Brute still hanging on the diamond, not crystal, horn.
