Gall found us before I finished.
The older man just stood by the Chaser and watched as we gathered up the remaining bandits and incapacitated them.
“You have anywhere you want us to put them?” I looked over at Nyssa’s father once we were done.
“They’ll get them.” The bald man turned and started walking away.
“What do we..?” I shook my head as Nyssa followed after her father.
The building in front of us was more of a single, crumbling wall than anything else. Right next to the wall was a large metal door on the ground. Gall grabbed one of the rings to his right and pulled the door open.
“You found the bunker.” I smirked. Some of the Gods bunkers would remain intact after a Desolation. If the bandits found the bunker, it was almost impossible to chase them out, short of a God themself getting involved. Since it was harder for an unbound God to claim the Dungeon if there were Bandits near it, that rarely happened. Especially since there was usually hours of driving time between the Desolation and another city.
The older man shrugged. “Nova is the Keeper.” As if that was all the information I needed, he started walking down the steps.
From the reports that I read during our mostly silent drive, Sipher kept a woman at each bunker that was bound to him as the Keeper. She oversaw the daily routines while he was off doing whatever crime he was participating in. Only two of the Keepers were known and they weren’t in this Ward or the Cathedral Ward. I supposed that now we knew who three were and I had a feeling that we’d just met Nova.
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
There seemed to be three flights of stairs, judging by when I saw what looked like a landing. This bunker didn’t seem to be very well placed since we could park our vehicle on top of the door and trap anyone inside. The stairway was also fairly compared to what I would have expected. Tres kept his bunker under the palace and the door to get into it was large enough to drive a shipping container into it. I knew that bunkers were usually made out of material that was so high Tiered that only the Gods could work with it, so some Gods skimped on the construction of the bunker, to where it was nothing but a small room, while others treated it as another floor or two of their palace.
I heard voices as we finally entered the room and realized that we hadn’t come in through the main doors. Instead, what we must have used was a side door, because to our right was a massive sliding door that was as wide as a shipping container. Considering how far underground we were, there had to be either a cave or a tunnel that the door was connected to. The area we were in was fairly flat and sandy, with a few rock clusters, but nothing that I would have thought was large enough to justify having doors that large underground.
The room itself wasn’t too spacious, just over a hundred foot wide box that had three rooms to our left and otherwise was open space. There were three other people in the bunker. One was a blonde woman with green skin and red eyes. She was wearing snug leather armor and had a red tree emblem over her heart while laying on a couch that was facing to our right. She was younger than me and looked completely unconcerned about our arrival, but given how the man behind her stiffened as we walked in, it felt like she was his boss. It was hard to tell what he looked like since he was in full metal armor, but at least he hadn’t drawn a weapon on us. They were probably a Healer/Tank duo if I had to guess about their classes.
The other person was an Anubis. The black furred canine male focused their yellow eyes on me before zeroing in on my hand. Once he saw the ring, his posture softened. Given that he was wearing jeans and a black shirt, I wasn’t sure what his class might be, but Anubis were usually a Speed based class.
No one said anything to us as Gall led us to the room in the middle of the left wall. Once he opened the door, I realized that there was another reason I wasn’t going to like this place.
The Dungeon Gate was inside the bunker.
