After getting dressed --- or rather undressed, Urvashi subtly changed his posture and rhythm of walking.
His gaze jumped from one building to another, although the street was full of people passing by he could still mostly make out the space around him.
In that little while he saw many taverns and bars with loud noises coming out from them, mostly yelling and laughing.
He slightly bit his lower lip and continued slipping through the people infront of him, the people in question looked at Urvashi with contempt --- the ones that could still see him anyway.
Urvashi kept pushing people aside so he could move as fast as possible, so it was understandable why he drew a few gazes with contempt.
Urvashi, meanwhile, paid them no mind.
As he was walking his gaze still kept going left to right from tavern to tavern, and ocasionally to the road ahead of him.
He was seemingly lost in thought, contemplating what route he should take.
If he managed to sucessfully enter a tavern without Taele seeing him he could wait a few minutes before going into hiding somewhere else.
While on the other hand if Taele saw him going in there probably wouldn't be a way out.
And going straight ahead was not without risks too, Taele could follow him --- if he was following, until there were Enforcers ahead of him.
While walking he tried to not even take a glance back as to not draw any suspicion on him, but there was no guarante Taele wasn't on him.
Taking a right sharp turn Urvashi entered a tavern made out of wood.
Inside, even though it was still quite early he saw more than a few drunk people.
There was only one empty chair which Urvashi hurriedly got in, the chair was the one furthest to the right so he only had a person sitting next to him on the left.
The person sitting next to him was a middle aged man who had brown eyes, a slender face with high cheeks flushed red and black hair.
He was drinking beer from a large mug while mumbling something. Urvashi glanced at the mug with a thoughtful expression before taking a glance at his clothes with a somewhat somber expression.
"Excuse me, might i borrow that for a moment." Urvashi said while taking a glance at the entrance of the tavern.
The drunk turning to him flashed a grin before saying.
"Do you think me a fool boy?"
Urvashi didn't say anything and instead took out a gold coin, the drunk seeing this nodded in satisfacrion and hastily took the coin.
He was overpaying to say the least, one mug of beer only cost 2 or 3 bronze coins at best, and for reference 1 gold coin was worth 10 silver coins --- and 1 silver coin was worth 10 bronze coins.
Urvashi handed him the coin with a heavy heart, of course it was only a gold coin worth 1 gold coin --- the gold coins too had denominations. What diffrentiates them is the purity of the gold, the purest one being 100 of a normal coin and the other coming in denominations of 50, 25 and 1.
Taking the mug from the drunk man Urvashi held it high above his head and lifted up his chin while opening his mouth.
He started pouring the beer down and most of it didn't even get to his mouth, but rather on his clothes.
The liquid kept pouring as Urvashi's face gradually became more determined, if anything he hoped that the gold coin could would be used on a good cause.
Having finished pouring all of it he looked at the drunk man with an expression of amusement before saying.
"Give me another one."
The drunk not wanting to give him any reason to take the coin away did as he was told and ordered more.
While the bartender was bringing him the beer Urvashi was keeping most of his focus on the entrance, he had made a risky choice.
Perhaps Taele didn't even need to enter the tavern but instead just call for more Enforcers to come while waiting on the entrance to make sure Urvashi couldn't come out, but still it was the only choice he really had.
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
After handing him the beer the bartender, an old man with grey hair and green eyes, went back to continue his work.
Urvashi once again started gulping bear down while making sure most of it got on his clothes, until halfway through he realized he had made a mistake.
Well, apart from the stickiness and the uncomfrotable feeling of his wet clothes, Urvashi in his tired state had forgotten that beer makes you fall asleep faster.
He didn't really drink, but still this mistake was something one could only call foolish.
He stopped swallowing it and let the rest of it pour down on his clothes before going to the bartender and asking him for a bucket of cold water.
As the bartender went around the back to get him his cold water Urvashi felt a gaze coming from behind him, he didn't dare to look back and so he readjusted his gun and prepared himself to draw it on a moment's notice.
He sublty tried to look behind himself witbout making it obvious but to no avail, his eyelids were so heavy.
His eyes hurt from even trying to look backwards.
In the meantime the bartender arrived and handed him the bucket.
"That guy over there." Urvashi tried speaking in a tone that's usually diffrent from his as he pointed at the drunk.
"He will pay for it."
The drunk hearing this smiled sheepishly and nodded, the bartender made no further inquries and instead went to serve other customers.
Urvashi while holding the gun with one hand took the bucket in the other, he still felt the gaze from behind him and it was driving him crazy --- like an itch he couldn't scratch.
And the itch in this situation probably wanted to arrest him.
Now he couldn't risk revealing his side profile so he had to be real careful about how he would get back to his seat.
But suddenly his expression changed from one of wariness to one of arrogance, he grinned before he yelled.
"Hey bartender, this isn't what I- this is- thiii~" he said as he fell down on the counter, pretending to have blacked out.
He still kept one eye, the one behind the counter, partially open so he could react if anything was to happen.
After a moment the bartender sighed before yelling.
"No way has another one fallen asleep in my bar!"
The customers upon hearing this laughed at the man who had gone red from anger.
After a few moment two men picked him up and escorted him out of the tavern, and at some point in time the gaze from behind him had dissapered.
Urvashi quietly heaved a sigh of relief before letting his thoughts wander on what he should do next.
---
Walking through a giant nearly transparent portal I look up at the figure standing on the other side, a giant!
The giant was a female who was about a dozen meters tall, her black hair falling down to her shoulders and her icy blue eyes piercing me --- nearly looking right through me.
Her face was slender and she had high cheekbones, she only wore a black robe and was barefoot.
Well, it would have been weird if she wasn't, considering their powers and all.
After stepping through the portal I greet her.
"Madame Agostina, it's a pleasure."
Looking up i see a smile plastered on her face.
"Oh really, i didn't expect that." She said in a sarcastic tone "Well since you managed to come here I'll ask, what's your name human?"
"Name? It's Termian." I say as I--
'Termian?'
---
Opening his eyes wide Urvashi realized he had fallen asleep at some point in time.
He quickly tried to get up but he instantly grabbed his head, it hurt so bad!
He never really was a drinker.
