Chapter 21-In a hurry

Chapter 21-In a hurry

"A conspiracy? What conspiracy? You're tired let's just go" Sharron said with a confused expression.

Urvashi looked at her with a serious expression before saying.

"I don't know, but i have a way to prove it exists."

Before Sharron could retort or say anything he took out a black notebook from his pocket amd handed it to her before continuing.

"The Enforcers will probably arrive soon, you should hurry."

Sharron tapped with her boot a few times before saying.

"Alright, make sure you come home."

Just as she said that she sprinted out the building.

Urvashi watched as she left before setting his gaze back on the corpse.

Now it was only a matter of time before the Enforcers arrived, and he would be waiting with a big gift.

The only problem was, if he was right about his theory of course, was that the relic, the supposed gift, wouldn't appear.

If he was wrong about it and a relic appeared, all the better.

But as of right now he was quite sure that one wouldn't appear, and how he would explain it to the Enforcers is another matter entirely.

Perhaps he should leave as well --- but doing that the Rankbearers of the Kingdom would use other means to find out who killed him.

And that could potentially put Sharron in their way.

He wasn't quite sure of what to say to the Enforcers, considering they all probably know about relics and such. Maybe he could get Mr. Alodia's help somehow.

But how?

Just as Urvashi was thinking to himself what he should do he noticed something out of the corner of his eye. A tall man with blonde hair and blue eyes wearing an enforcer's clothing walking up to him with his gun drawn out.

Urvashi put his hands into the air before the enforcer could shoot him.

The Enforcer took a glance at the corpse before looking at Urvashi. He was seemingly shocked, he obviously knew who the victim was.

"You did this?" The enforcer asked.

"Sure." Urvashi paused before continuing.

"That right there is your killer."

The enforcer looked at him with suprise but before he could exclaim his shock or say anything Urvashi reached into his pocket.

The enforcer seeing this nearly shot him.

"Easy, I'm a private detective. I was hired to look into this."

"Yeah? What's your name."

"I can hand you my card if that's what you want."

The enforcer nodded.

Urvashi pointed at his pocket and the enforcer went up to him and grabbed the card.

After he finished examining it he nodded with satisfaction.

"Who hired you?" He asked.

"I won't give up my client that easily."

The enforcer looked at him with an irritated expression as he said.

"Alright, you can go now. You'll probably get the reward later."

"One more thing, how long ago did you kill him?"

"Ten to fifteen minutes, give or take."

The enforcer nodded before walking him out.

This situation wasn't ideal, but for Urvashi this was provably the best case scenario, because now he wouldn't have to explain why the relic didn't appear.

Yet.

And he was sure it wouldn't.

He was sure that when the relic didn't appear he would be the number 1 suspect.

Meaning that the Blades would be after him, which would be less than ideal to say the least.

Still this little time frame would give him an opportunity to escape the grasp of the Enforcers and give him a chance to seek out Mr. Alodia for help.

...Probably.

One oversight he made was sending Sharron to his place --- especially with the Fool's Gambit and Sealscript Journal.

So he was in a dilemma wheter to first look to Mr. Alodia for help or save Sharron.

Well not really, the choice was obvious.

He would get Sharron first and rush to Mr. Alodia's place then, although he still was reluctant to introduce Sharron to Mr. Alodia for whatever reason he would still do it.

Maybe because of Mr. Alodia's mysterious past or perhaps even his overwhelming power compared to him he still wanted to keep the two worlds apart.

Steping out of the building he started walking in a rush, he couldn't run just yet as to not draw the attention of the enforcer.

He planned to go at least a street or few away before he started running towards Sharron.

He was about a few dozen minutes of walking away from his apartment but by running he could reach it in perhaps less than dozen or so minutes.

As soon as he stepped into a next street he began sprinting, he did recieve a lot of strange looks but he paid them no mind.

Street after street minute after minute he was getting closer and closer towards his home, perhaps he would even encounter Sharron somewhere before there.

He was tired, both in mind and body, but he still kept running without stopping for even a moment. His lungs were burning and his muscles were aching but he only had one thought in mind.

Stolen content alert: this content belongs on Royal Road. Report any occurrences.

And that thought was to prevent Sharron from being caught by Blades.

Maybe he was being paranoid, maybe the blades or even the enforcers weren't going after him or at his place. Maybe even the relic appeared.

He didn't really know why he thought he didn't kill the venomous killer, perhaps his tired mind was playing tricks on him.

But he still kept running until he eventually reached his street. Upon running up to his building he stopped and panted heavily, he was holding his knees trying to catch a breath. But as it turned out it was incredibly tiring and hard to do so.

Still, despite all that he started walking up he stairs, he still had his keys with him but was sure Sharron would find a way in.

Upon reaching his door he leaned on it for a few fleeting moments before putting the keys in the keyhole and unlocking the door.

He reached for the handle and twisted it expecting to find Sharron waiting inside.

But, to his suprise, she wasn't there. And all of a sudden a thought crossed his mind.

Had he perhaps trusted Sharron too much?

The Fool's Gambit was praised so much even from Mr. Alodia, so had she taken it for herself and run away?

He gave himself a slap on the cheek. He trusted Sharron. This was probably a byproduct of his tired mind, still he didn't belive how distrusting and disgusting he was.

From the moment he met her she was nothing but kind, well apart from trying to kill him when they first met obviously, and even was prepared to risk her life for him.

Granted her life was in danger too, but she showed she cared about him.

Just to check he quickly went through his rooms, the living room, the bedroom, the kitchen and even the bathroom looking for Sharron but she just wasn't there.

While doing this he was thinking of how to leave her a message and not seem like a criminal if the police came crashing through his door.

But his thoughts had perhaps suffered the most damage from being focused, or even just awake, from the night before.

He couldn't think of anything else expcept leaving a message, but that could easily get her caught.

While grabbing a piece of paper he suddenly had an idea.

He threw the paper down and grabed a cup from his kitchen counter before putting it back down. He then grabbed a chair and quietly put it down on the floor, he pushed his table over and other furniture he had such as his clock.

He thrashed his every room as fast as he could, but just a little, so if Sharron arrived she would idealy know to get away from this place.

And if the Enforcers or Blades showed up at his door they wouldn't accuse him of much more than perhaps being clumsly.

Apart from stealing a relic of course.

Having done that he changed his clothes and wore a brown coat with a cheap brown suit he had from his school days and threw on a brown top hat.

He left the door unlocked and quietly descended the stairs. Hopefully nobody had heard him being in there, thankfully he thought before throwing that cup, but if he had thrown it and smashed it into pieces that would have drawn all kinds of attention.

Having left his building he sighed out of relief before hearing his stomach grumbling. He had just now, upon hearing this, realized how hungry and thirsty he was.

Still he started walking fast in the direction of Mr. Alodia's residence.

And while on the way he encountered what he had been hoping for.

A food stall!

But, the owner was the same guy that Urvashi had asked about Mr. Alodia.

Perhaps if he was to buy something from him he would rat him out to the Enforcers.

Even if he didn't buy anything he probably would, and he would perhaps involve Mr. Alodia in that too.

That was because he was sure the Enforecers would go out of their way and put a wanted poster on him.

Considering as he already knew Urvashi was in contact with Mr. Alodia --- or Mokkal as he thought, Urvashi readjustes his top hat as to cover his face and walked last the stall.

If he had seen him going in Mr. Alodia's direction that would surely implicate him, but if he just asked about him perhaps not.

And he eventually did find another food stall from which he gladly bought food.

But he had to change directions and go through a few more streets before reaching Mr. Alodia, as to keep his destination hidden.

He eventually did reach Mr. Alodia's building and even climbed up to his door.

He inhaled before knocking on it.

After he was done knocking there was no response, he tried again a few moments later but yet again there was no response.

He kept trying for a few minutes before succumbing to fear, but it was clear as day.

Mr. Alodia wasn't here.

He now had no way of getting help.

Sharron was who knows where, just as Mr. Alodia was.
