They kept falling and it felt like it took forever to reach the bottom of this bottomless pit. Marcellus kept yelling but because of the high velocity they reached his lips pursed and only unintelligible language came out. Enki however wasn't bothered by it and let himself graciously lowering down on the wind. Kendric noticed he was smiling. Unbelievable, he actually enjoyed himself during the ride while Kendric felt like his guts would come out through his mouth any moment now.
'Prepare for landing!' Enki yelled and a second later he landed on his feet while they all landed on their buttocks. Painfully however not as painful as it should be, coming in with so much speed. As if they landed themselves on a bouncy castle.
'Behold, the Column caves. Well, the first one underneath the smallest of the three pyramids in Giza. We have a long walk ahead of us, all the way to the Sphinx.' And Enki suggested they move along.
'Are we underneath the columns of the pyramids?' Maynard asked while he looked around at the stunning cavewalls and ceiling which were filled with ancient symbols and shiny stars that illuminated the tunnels.
'Yes,' said Enki curtly, deeply concentrated, 'it needs to be here somewhere.'
'What exactly?' Marcellus asked, not knowing what to look for.
'The Moon panel,' Enki said while scoping the place out, 'look for the Moon symbol.'
They observed the ancient symbols on the cavewalls. Another story was to be told on the wall, that of the origins of mankind. Enki and the other Deities ruling the world, creating more intelligent humans and...
...there it was.
'A moon eclipse.' Kenji and Marcellus pointed at the Moon eclipse which was painted on the wall.
Enki hurried himself to them and made a shallow cut in the palm of his hand. With a few drops of his blood a little column arose from the ground.
'Maynard and Marcellus, open up your hands.' He ordered them but Marcellus anxiously declined.
'Don't be a pussy!' And Maynard pushed him forward to Enki while he opened up his hand. Enki made a shallow cut in the palm of Maynards hand and held it over the column. He looked at Marcellus now but Marcellus still wasn't up for it.
'I just don't like blood.' He said with his hands behind his back but Enki held his hand up and gave him a firm stare. Marcellus carefully offered his hand, experiencing he had no other choice in the matter.
Enki made a shallow cut and let drops of blood fall on the column. The ceiling transformed into a globe, Earth...
It zoomed in on Asia and Australia and let some sort of electro magnetic grid fall over the both continents.
'Good, let's continue.' Enki ordered and they kept going untill Enki suddenly stopped at a fork in the cave. 'If I remembered correctly, it is this way.' And he turned left.
'Uhm Enki, I believe it is right.' Kendric carefully suggested.
'Oh how do you know?' Asked Maynard in exasperation.
'I have a feeling.'
'Pffff, you and your feelings.' And Maynard rolled with his eyes.
'I believe we should follow the feelings from the Chosen one. He is after all in contact with the Source and if memory serves me well, that connection is way more precious and valuable than the memory of an old Deity.' Enki said while he winked at Kendric for having his back.
They went to the right and walked for a few miles untill they stumbled upon an old walkway made out of wooden planks.
'Hell no! I dove into that pit, but no way in hell I am taking that bridge.' Maynard said determined.
'You were right my son, it was the right turn after all. We made this bridge a long time ago. I am afraid it isn't what it was used to be, but it has to do.' And Enki stepped on the first wooden plank. As soon as he did a loud crack sound echoed through the cave.
'Uhm what exactly is underneath us?' Marcellus asked while he looked frightened down the steep rock walls.
'Earth's core or hell.' Maynard joked in an attempt to scare Marcellus even more.
'Stalagmites and some other pointy things.' Enki said with his upmost friendly smile and Marcellus swallowed so loudly that it echoed through the cave as well.
'Sound, isn't it interesting? The vibrations floating like a wave. The universe is truly wonderful with all it's wonders.' Enki said while he stepped from one wooden plank to the next one untill he reached the other side.
Kendric was next followed by Zuberi, then Kenji and finally Marcellus who ran so fast that he almost tripped while his foot was stuck behind the last wooden plank. Zuberi and Kenji helped him up and they were now waiting for Maynard.
'Nah thanks, I will turn back and find my way out.'
'And do what exactly? Climb up through the pit? Good luck with that.' Enki obviously being sarcastic and laughed out loud.
Maynard subborn as he may be, set his foot on the first wooden plank, knowing that there was no way back. He finally made it through the other side and was babbling something about never had any fear for it and how easy it was. They all rolled their eyes, some things just never change.
'So what now?' Marcellus asked looking at Enki but Enki looked down over the edge.
'Kenji, use your ability please to get me that stalagmite.'
'Uhm which one exactly?'
'You see that glowing one?'
'The big one?'
'Yes, exactly!'
Kenji took a deep breath and focused on the huge glowing stalagmite. It began to shake a bit and finally came loose, it floated up and Kenji placed it before Enki's feet.
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
'Very well done my child.' Enki tapped him on the shoulder and spilled a few drops of his blood on it and called Kenji and Zuberi to the stalagmite. They already opened up their hands and let Enki made a shallow cut in the palms of their hands. He let their blood fall on the stalagmite which immediately transformed into our globe again and pinpointed the Artic. The Arctic region covers parts of eight countries: Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, and the United States. An electro magnetic forcefield fell as a grid over the Artic parts.
'This one is very important. The artic is important. We need to take extra measures.' Enki explained.
'Why is it more important than other parts of the world?' Kenji asked interested.
'Because of it's location. There are a few parts in this world where the energy runs freely in a different way, different kind of behaviour. It has everything to do with the quantom world. Enabling us to fly in and out, or appear at any time we want. We need to shut the doorway on the Artic.' Enki sounded determined and set foot on the stalagmite which still had the form of the globe. He signed at Kenji and Zuberi to join him.
'Normally I'd do this with my brother and sister. But since they aren't here, it is upon you my children to achieve the impossible.' And Enki raised his hands. The globe flew over the ravine filled with stalagmites.
'I really don't like this.' Zuberi said with a trembling voice but Enki raised his hands high upon the sky and all the stalagmites floated high in the air, completely surrounding them.
'Send your blood Kenji. One drop pf blood for each stalagmite.'
Kenji concentrated and send his blood to the other stalagmites. The drops of blood flew so fast that from the ground it was hard to see if he had touched every stalagmite with it.
'Zuberi, use your power. Touch this one.' And Enki send one small stalagmite to him.
Zuberi didn't exactly knew what to do with this. He placed his hands on the stalagmite. As soon as he did, pictures of the past and the future flew through his mind. He observed other species flying in and out through the portal in the artic. It appeared there once was a pyramid now deeply burried under the ice.
'Yes focus Zuberi, shut it down.' Enki commanded.
Zuberi tried to focus on the pyramid but had no clue how to close it down. He didn't had remote viewing like Marcellus, it was a wonder that with his divination power he could see as much as he did. How was he able to manipulate things from a distance? And what exactly did he had to manipulate?
'Focus on the point of the pyramid. Start your way up from the top and work your way down. You can do this. Just focus. Divination brought your here, but you have more abilities than only your divination power.' Enki consulted him through and Zuberi took his advice at heart.
While he focused on the top he felt a strange sensation floating through his whole body.
'Yes, yes, that's it. Hold on to it, use it and channel it.' Enki ordered him while his eyes were all white now. He clearly looked deeply into Zuberi's thoughts.
Zuberi tried to redirect the sensation over the pyramid and as he did he felt the pyramid was shutting down.
'Well done my child!' Enki yelled in exitement and he lowered them back to the ground again.
'So what's next? Zuberi asked.
'Finding the Sun.' And Enki continued walking.
After a ten minute walk Enki stopped at a steep cave wall and looked up. 'Yes, up is the way to go to reach the Sun.'
They all sighed. The cavewall was so high and steep that this climb would feel like reaching for the stars quite letterly.
'And how are we supposed to climb without gear?' Maynard asked as the real smartass that he was.
'Use your imagination.' Enki said smiling down upon them while he floated higher and higher untill he reached the edge.
'Great. Well let's imagine ourselves as flying little monkey's than.' And Maynard rolled with his eyes.
As annoying as he could be, Kendric had to give it to him. This was crazy. No gear to climb and even with gear it would seem impossible for even the most experienced climbers let alone being unexperienced as they were.
'So, maybe we should focus as a group?' Zuberi suggested.
'No, that will bring us nowhere. I am certain of it. I think Maynard is the answer to this.' Kendric suggested and they all stared at Maynard.
'If you are thinking of my apportation power, forget it. I will never reach the top, let along bring you guys with me.' He said determined that this plan would fail.
'But if we focus as a group?', Zuberi suggested again, 'and Kendric owns the power for apportation also.'
Zuberi was right and they nodded their heads in agreement. They sat in a circle and held eachothers hand while focussing on their breathing.
'Lead the way Maynard.' Kenji said while he slowly exhaled.
Maynard focused as hard as he could while breathing heavily. Kendric felt him squeezing his hand and tried to vibrate on the same level as Maynard did in the same way they did when they flew their spaceship. Maynard took a last deep breath and suddenly they appeared above on the edge. They all opened their eyes and just noticed in time that Marcellus wobbled on the edge, about to fall off. They grabbed him tightly and took him safe, far away from the edge.
'Pooh, that was close. Thanks Maynard, I am certain you didn't do that on purpose.' Marcellus remarked while looking sarcastic but Maynard smirked.
'Well done my children, I knew you could do it. Behold, your Sun. Powerful and radiating.' Enki pointed out the drawing on the cavewall. A stunnishing solar eclipse was drawed in exact detail.
Kendric stepped forward and held out his hand but Enki refused his hand and ordered the other four to approach. He made another cut into their other hand and placed a few drops of blood on the solar eclipse drawing. Another column arose from the ground. This one was bigger and pointier than the one from the moon eclips. They all shared their blood on the column besides Kendri and the column transformed into our globe again, focussing on Europe, Africa and the American continent. The electro magnetic forcefield got up again and crawled as a grid over the continents.
'Good, well done! Now we only need to activate the Antartica. The biggest portal is there, hence it is a no fly zone.' Enki announced.
'Uhm wasn't that because of the strong wind there?' Kenji asked as the walking Wikipedia he was.
'Yes, very strong wind circulates over Antartica but with a reason or do you think that's a coincidence? Earth's technology isn't made for it, but ours is. Many species fly easily through the portal as we fly as easy million of lightyears through space. It is the most stable portal on Earth, the strongest one also and no one will see us fly in or out so it is used on a daily basis for us to get in and out undetected. Volcanoes were a good option but since you put livefeeds on youtube, we got detected way to many times. So Antartica it is.'
'And how far do we need to walk? I guess we are going to the Sphinx, aren't we?' Kendric had a feeling.
'Yes.' Enki answered curtly and began to walk again.
While they went through multiple caves, Enki knew to chose the right direction with every fork they came along. Apperently his memory had a boost.
'How long ago were you here for the last time?' Kendric asked out of curiosity.
'That must have bin at least like 5000 years ago. We haven't bin living on earth anymore for a long time, but we kept the grid up though.' Enki asnwered while determining he should take the left or the right at another fork in the cave.
'Why did you turn it off?' Zuberi asked.
'Yes, that's a good question my child. Humanity wanted to do it their way even though they had no way of protecting themselves. But your wish is our command and so we did. Luckily for you, the galactic federation kept a close eye on you and offered protection when needed.'
They walked for a whole hour with no end in sight and became thirsty.
'Do you need any permission from someone to turn on the grid? Is humanity this far developed that they can detect it? I mean, like NASA for example.' Maynard asked highly doubtful of the capabilities of mankind.
'Oh they detected us already, you can be sure of that. There is just nothing they can do about it. But knowing all of your governments, they will be on high alert having meetings and all.' And Enki laughed apperently he thought it was funny how our governments handled things when it came to alien technology that they just couldn't comprehend.
'Knowing them, they would probably blame eachother and activated their nukes already.' Marcellus noted and they grinned but they came to realise their government handled things they didn't understand exactly like that, which was a scary thought that this could provoke a nuclear war.
