Zuberi showed Marcellus their next destination and let him focus on the starmap.
'Zuberi your power is divination. So how did you use psychometry on this?' Kendric asked while being curious how he obtained the information.
'I know, I used divination. I can't do psychometry, that is Lada's power. It is the practice of determining the hidden significance or cause of events, sometimes foretelling the future. That is divination brother. I just picked up the vibrations and used it to see the future. Like reading tea leaves, I just adjusted the way of reading things into my own advantage.'
'Clever!' And Kendric was proud at Zuberi and the way he developed his skill and made it his own.
'This is a weird race. It's like we are island hopping but than planetary.' Marcellus pulled up his woozy face again.
But they all felt the same. It seemed they just had to fly their spaceship, hop from one planet to the other, obtain some orgonite pyramids, use a little power on it and hop on.
'Where are the others?' Zuberi asked since he wasn't able to see what's behind them, there were no windows in the back.
'Close by!' And Maynard showed them the other spaceships which were indicated as small dots on the starmap, each with the colour of their colourclass.
'Oh there are the girls from our class. Cahya and Candace are ahead. I believe Lada is their starmap reader and Zasha and Gemma are their engineers. Lada as as starmap reader is like having real competition with her psychometry power. She obtains information by the orgonite pyramids since unlike Zuberi who reads the future, she reads the past. As in the touch of the teachers and the target they had for the object. It's actually not fair, but well, what can you do about it?'
'Marcellus, how do you all know this?' Kendric wondered but didn't need the answer.
Marcellus smirked. He talked a lot, like always actually and he obtained a lot of information about everyone at school. He is this little social butterfly but it came in handy from time to time. Like now. He knew the strong points and their weaknesses of pretty much everyone. This could give them an advantage and Kendric thought how they could use Marcellus his knowledge.
'Marcellus what do you know about the others?' Kendric asked while focussing on his flying skills.
'Well, Cree and Atlas fly for their purple colourclass group. They are pretty solid in their flying skills, haven't logged enough flying hours though to beat us. Their engineer however, is Zack. The new guy. He apperently was born to be this amazing car mechanic and probably adjusted some settings from the spaceship. Like nitrous oxide in cars on earth you know?'
The others pulled up their shoulders not knowing of which chemical compound he was talking about.
'Oh come on guys, the fast and the furious?'
'Ohhhhh.' They all said simultaneously.
'And the other colourclasses I only have some basic information about them. Not nearly enough to make a strategy. Sorry guys.'
But this was more than enough to compare it with. It seemed some powers were in great advantage for the race in open space while others would probably do great on the planet hopping and obtaining more orgonite pyramids. It was obvious that with so much different powers there wasn't any advantage to win in whatever method Kendric could come up with. Eitherway, they would win and loose some and they just have to do it with hopefully some quick thinking skills.
'Almost there. Wow this was a long route. Miss Bria's homeplanet is far from ours.' Marcellus noted.
'Oh believe me, we went as fast as we could.' Maynard said while sweating a bit from all the effort he had to put in to achieve such a high velocity.
'I feel completely drained.' Kendric added that to Maynard's remark while sweat dripped of his forehead also and Maynard agreed with him.
'You guys stay at the ship while we obtain the next orgonite pyramid ok?' Kenji suggested.
'Well, that is if you land the darn thing properly. ' Zuberi said whith a smirk on his face.
They circled around a dark planet which surrounded itself by multiple moons over time. Given that Planet 9 is estimated to be about 5 to 10 times the mass of Earth, it was a view to die for.
'Planet 9, the dark planet.' Marcellus said and thereby stating the obvious.
'Dark matter? The last thing I read about it on earth was that they didn't even knew if it really existed and if it was dark matter or maybe just another black hole.' Kenji said while he observed the strange dark planet.
'I don't know. We can pull up some more information from out the system's database but a particular area on the planet is pinpointed on the starmap to obtain our next orgonite pyramid.'
Marcellus swiped back and forth to pull up some information about the strange black planet which stared them in the face but couldn't find anything.
'That's strange. Nothing comes up.' And he continued swiping.
This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.
'We just land this thing and will see what's out there ok?' Kendric suggested determined.
He expected a struggle going through it's atmosphere but it went surprisingly easy and they exactly landed where Marcellus had pinpointed the area on the starmap.
'Let's install our helmets just to be sure. Kendric and Maynard, you two take a break and eat something. Get your strength back and prepare to fly the heck out of here if we come running back.' Kenji suggested with much suspicion for this unknown place.
Kenji, Marcellus and Zuberi stepped out and scanned the place with the build-in scanning device on their arm.
'Odd, very odd. This place exist due to dark matter. Those scientists were right.' And Kenji walked around hoping he would obtain more information about this strange dark planet.
After scanning through the area for a while they still came up with nothing.
'So, what's next?' Zuberi asked while ticking at his build-in scanning device - thinking it was broken or something.
They had no idea what they could do any further and brainstormed for a while about which power could be of use to them or at least get them on their way into the right direction.
'Jeez, there was no light, it's all dark. There is just nothing which is visible to the naked eye. I am so done with this. How could they just leave us without any clue, what shitty race is this?' Marcellus said agitated.
'Wait, what did you say?' Kenji asked.
'That it's all dark here, just nothing!'
'No the visibility part.'
'Nothing visible to the naked eye?' He asked insecure not really sure if that was what Kenji ment.
Kenji opened up a channel with the spaceship over the intercome.
'Talk to me Kenji.'
'Kendric, I am sorry but we need you.'
'On my way!'
Another spaceship arrived and shortly another one followed.
'Yak, it's Zack and the others. I told you he is this wonderkid in mechanics.' Marcellus stuck his tongue out.
'More will come. We'll need to hurry up. Zuberi, help me out will you?' Kenji asked while he installed a strange device. Zuberi and Kenji worked on the installation and a few minutes later Kendric arrived.
'Kendric, good you are here.'
'Yeah I ran, the others landed their spaceships.'
'This device will give you night vision. I enhanced it with Zuberi in after school hours. It detects pretty much everything. We adjusted the settings and hopefully it will let you see what is needed to be seen in this dark matter. It could be anything, just tell us what you see.' Explained Kenji.
'Ok, but why me?'
'Because all the powers are within you brother. We don't know which power we need to detect anything. I mean it's dark matter. Mysterious as ever.' And Zuberi winked to show Kendric he fully had his trust.
'But our spaceships fly on it.' Kendric noted.
'Yes, we know a bit more about it. But nothing on a dark matter planet.' Kenji said while adjusting the device it's settings one more time just to be sure.
Not sure what they exactly were looking for, Kendric stared through the device. It looked a bit like a telescope and he swang it from the left to the right and back again.
'Anything?' Kenji asked hopeful.
'What exactly am I looking for?'
'Anything!!!' They said in unison.
He turned the telescope a bit lower to the left, focussing on the ground more or whatever the surface was made of.
Wait, was that... no it can't be...
'What is it Kendric?'
'I don't know. I believe...'
They hung on his every word but Kendric didn't continue. Impatiently Zuberi pushed him aside and looked through the telescope, only to detect nothing. Just nothing at all.
'Which power did you use?' Zuberi asked.
'No power. But I think I see something shining from the surface. Let's walk and take that thing with you.'
They packed up the telescope device and followed Kendric who led the way with a headlight on his forehead which was also build in his bodysuit on their veil helmets.
'Is it getting colder?', Marcellus noticed the temperature dropping and checked the statistics on a hologram he pulled up from his arm, 'oh it is definitely getting colder.'
'How could this be? Our bodysuits protect us from whatever temperature, it is set to keep our bodytemperature at 37 degrees celcius at all time.' Kenji wondered and checked his bodysuit for any holes or leaks.
'Must be the dark matter. Unpredictable!' Marcellus still checking all the data percieved by his build-in scanning device.
Kendric stopped and silently made a gesture they would install their device again. They did as he ordered and somehow felt they needed to be quiet.
Kendric looked through the telescope and saw it as clear as day now.
'I see it. Ana'kh.'
'Ana what?' Marcellus asked with his woozy face on that no one could see in the dark.
'Ana'kh, it is the language of the Anunnaki. It shines over the surface. Symbols, like from the old tablets. The 8 pointed star. I see it, it's here. Look for yourself.' And Kendric made a handgesture for them to look through the telescope. They all did, but saw nothing.
'Yeah, definitely a source thingy,' Marcellus said, 'so now what?'
But Kendric didn't know. He recognised it though, not only the Anunnaki symbols but the cuneiform as well. It probably looked weird to others with all it's stripes and triangles, it is afterall the earliest known writing system and looks nothing like the alphabet.
'What does it say?' Marcellus asked impatiently.
Kendric tried to read it. But it was hard. As if his knowledge given by the Source didn't operate on full capacity. He looked through the telescope again, where the cuneiform shined as the stars.
Did it just move? Oh it definitely moves. It vibrates!
Kendric stepped to the shiny cuneiform and Anunnaki symbols. But without the Telescope it was hard to exactly know where it was. He slid his hands over the surface. Yes, he was definitely picking up those vibrations.
'And???' A very impatient Marcellus was close to a nervous breakdown.
'Shush.' Kenji said, waiting patiently at Kendric to inform them whenever the time was right.
'This can't be.'
'What can't be?' Marcellus jumping up and down now from exitement.
'I can't understand the cuneiform, my connection to the Source, I don't know. It feels like a disturbance, something interfering with my link to the source. Our connection is severed. '
So no speeddialing the Source than? Got it. So? What's next?' Marcellus shaking so hard now due to the overload in his nervous system.
'I don't know Marcellus! I pick up the vibrations but can't hear them. I just feel they communicate, but it's like we don't speak the same language.'
'Well, if YOU can't even do it. Than how will the others?' Zuberi asked.
He was right. How could they? No one could read Ana'kh or any other ancient text like he could.
'I don't think that this is the task. I think...' Kendric wondered.
Suddenly spaceships flew away.
'Guys, what the heck are you doing out there? All the others are leaving.' They heared Maynard through their intercoms and looked at Kendric.
