Chapter 93. Baihu's loyalty.

Chapter 93. Baihu's loyalty.

Huang Wen's fierceness created a circle filled with corpses, with him at the center. Soldiers surrounded him with riffles aimed at him. The distant between him and them was no less than one hundred meters. Seeing how far they put themselves away from him, one could imagined, how Huang Wen put terror deep in their heart.

No one dared to make a sound, an uncomfortable and eerie stillness filled the battle field.

But no matter what, Huang Wen was facing men who were used to violence and used to be feared. After a while, they began to overcome their fear.

At that time, the captain who led that unit, left the armored vehicle he was riding and arrived at the scene. He was accompanied by a sergeant. It was none other than Sergeant Wen Gao, the one who tried to stop Huang Wen from leaving Gutian town and brought him to Colonel Wen Liang, back then.

"Captain Wang Yun, that was him. The one who broke the siege twice. He is dangerous.", Sergeant Wen Gao whispered.

Captain Wang Yun was one cruel man who have the strength to back his cruelty. He only knew how to put fear in other people's heart. He never met anyone who could put fear in his heart. When he saw the corpses around Huang Wen, he didn't feel any fear at all.

He coldly snorted and growled to those at his sides, "What are you waiting for? Are you bunch of sissies? Shoot him."

His presence helped his men to fight against Huang Wen's murderous aura. Five men lifted their riffles, aimed and shot.

Soon the silence was broken by sound of shooting and the sound of bullets whizzing in the air.

Everyone was unconsciously anticipating to see the bullets shredded Huang Wen  into pieces, but much to their surprise, the bullets bounced harmlessly and fell to the ground, after it touched his body.

It shocked those who sat it.

Now, his threat to eradicate them all was no longer absurd.

It was in such situation when Captain Wang Yun showed his leadership, "Fools... FOOLS!"

His shout grabbed his men's attention. When he saw his men turned to look at him, Captain Wang Yun grabbed the nearest rifle from his man. He aimed and shot.

Bang!

Bang!

The bullets fell harmlessly but Captain Wang Yun showed no fear or shock, he calmly said, "Fool! He's your enemy, if you can't kill him then he'll kill you. If one one can kill him then shot him twice. If two is not enough then shot him thrice. If bullets not enough then throw your grenades."

"ARE YOU SOLDIERS OR BUNCH OF WHORES? DAMN IT!"

"FIGHT !!!!"

Captain Wang Yun, gave the rifle back to his men, took his own pistol and started shooting at Huang Wen. Now, his short speech woke his men from their shock and actually incite their fighting spirit. So much that even as Huang Wen kept on using his skill, to pressure them with the murderous aura. The fear, it only fueled their aggression.

Huang Wen gritted his teeth, he knew his shield wouldn't be able to hold for much longer as barrages of shots bombarded his shield.

He began to run, it showed them that he was bluffing back then. But he had no other choice, if he insisted on keeping his charade, he would die in the next few minutes. As he turned to flee, Huang Wen could hear the soldiers around him roared their victorious shout.

He didn't care though, he zigzagged his way toward the direction of Baihu and his ten thousands zombies. He was running toward the soldiers on that direction.

Some soldiers shot their own friends in that frenzy, but Captain Wang Yun dealt with it quick. Now that they no longer fear Huang Wen, he needed to put the discipline back on them. He barked orders and soon they no longer shot at Huang Wen wildly.

Quickly the circle opened into half circle, so they could shot Huang Wen without putting their comrades in danger. Less people could shoot him and it was easier for Huang Wen to run away, but at the same time Huang Wen worried now that he was no longer some threatening presence for them. The rest of the army would continue their march toward the town.

He managed to delay their arrival by posing himself as a threat that was bigger than he actually was.

Now that they saw through his bluff, they wouldn't let him delayed their march any longer. Huang Wen kept on moving not to run away from them, but to charge into their ranks once again.

Captain Wang Yun of course saw his intention. He skillfully kept on leading and moved his men to prevent Huang Wen from made another attempt to get into their ranks. Huang Wen began to receive minor injuries. Some bullets managed to pass his shield and wounded him. Although it was nothing major, but the sight of him stopped on his track by some of the shots and how part of his shirt colored in blood, boosted the confidence of his enemies.

Huang Wen was struggling to survive and at the same time kept his enemies attention at him. Through his spiritual link to Baihu, from time to time, he checked the distance between them.

Few kilometers from that place Baihu tried to push the zombies to move faster. But zombies were zombies, no matter how much he commanded them to, they couldn't move faster than they currently were. When Baihu learned of Huang Wen's injury, he couldn't hold himself anymore. Baihu left his army of zombies to march by themselves.

He imprinted it deeply in their mind, to move as fast as they could toward him.

Once he did it, Baihu ran as fast as he could to help Huang Wen.

Huang Wen could sense Baihu's presence approaching fast. He felt grateful at Baihu's concern for him. Huang Wen admitted he already underestimated his opponent. Their leader, wouldn't let him charged into their ranks. He also saw, that the larger part of the army, already back to march to Gutian town.

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

He also worried of Baihu as well.

After some hesitation, he decided to run away from them. Of course Captain Wang Yun wouldn't let him escape so easily. He sent his men to chase Huang Wen, while he returned to lead the rest to attack Gutian Town.

For the first time in his life, he could feel how close death was to him. It was thanks to his sharp sixth sense or perhaps his instinct to survive, several times Huang Wen made a sudden turn that save his life. He had several light wounds and now one that was a bit deeper on his thigh. But his body was flooded with adrenaline and he barely felt anything.

With Baihu's speed, it only took him less than ten minutes to reach Huang Wen's location. The moment that demon saw Huang Wen's state, he exploded in anger.

Baihu raised his head and howled, as he sped up and charged toward tens of men who chased Huang Wen.

His fast approaching figures wasn't go unnoticed, those who chased Huang Wen stopped on their track when they saw this wild, savage person charged toward their direction with his sword lifted high in the sky. Some of them began to take a shot at him.

Baihu kept on running, he totally ignored all those bullets. No less than six or seven bullets hit his body squarely, but he kept on running as if nothing happened. His body wasn't a normal physical body. It looked like human body,  but there was no blood, bones or any organ inside that body. The bullets shredded part of his body, but couldn't stop him.

When they saw how those bullets couldn't stop Baihu, more and more turned their attention toward Baihu. As more soldiers directed their attack to Baihu, his advance began to slow down.

He was a demon who wasn't actually have a physical body. Yet, he still could feel some sort of pain, although it wasn't the pain we knew as humans. Besides with more and more physical materials, chipped away from his physical body, his energy began to depleted.

It wouldn't kill him, but they would extremely weakened him.

Huang Wen now, was out of their range, turned to Baihu he shouted both mentally and physically, "Baihu! Get back here you idiot! That's enough!"

Baihu grunted and began to retreat. Huang Wen sighed a relieved when he saw that, he turned and ran.

Baihu stay about twenty meters behind Huang Wen and acted as his rear guard. They ran toward their army of zombies.

The moment they saw those zombies, a wave of relieve ran through their body. Now, they were saved. Huang Wen only felt the relieved for a moment though. His life was saved, but he still had to bring that army to save the town.

At the same time, those who chased Huang Wen and Baihu was yet to realize that these zombies were led by those two. They thought the army from Fuzhou was accidentally helping them to capture Huang Wen. They quickened their pace.

"Now you died, bastard."

"We got them! We got them!"

Their excitement began to turn into disappointment, anger and indignation when they saw the zombies let Huang Wen and Baihu to slip into their ranks without any fight.

"Hey... what the hell are they doing?"

"HEY! THAT'S ENEMY! ENEMY", some of them tried to shout and inform the zombies.

"Bunch of idiots!"

Their indignation began to turn into confusion, panic and terror, when they saw Baihu stood in the middle of all that zombies and pointed his finger at them, "Kill those bastards!"

"What?"

"Is this for real?

"Aren't they our allies?"

"We're fighting for the leader of those zombies right?"

Huang Wen was quietly closed his eyes and meditated in the middle of all those ruckus. Baihu faithfully stood at his side and moving his army to annihilate their enemies.  What could those thirty to forty soldiers do, in front of ten thousands of charging zombies. They shot down perhaps close to hundred of those zombies, but the next few minutes, the scene turned into one hellish feast for those zombies.

With Baihu controlling them, he quickly turned those twenty to thirty soldiers into one of his zombies.

Huang Wen received the information from Baihu through their spiritual link and quietly commanded Baihu, "Send those zombies to catch up with their main force. I still need few more minutes to restore my strength and temporarily heal my injuries. But we can't waste any seconds."

Baihu mentally nodded, he didn't leave Huang Wen's side. He merely sent the zombies to go first, toward Gutian town. Huang Wen didn't say anything, he learned a bit more of the demon's loyalty toward his self.

It was a new thing for him. Since they were connected spiritually, some of Baihu's anger and frustration when he sensed that Huang Wen was in danger, was known to Huang Wen. Just as how relieved Baihu was, when he saw Huang Wen alive. Huang Wen knew it had something to do with the path he chose. He was choosing a path of one important character in the demon's realm.

Someone who was respected by many demons, including Baihu, Fengsu and Youshe.

More than any men. More than Zhang Xuan. Now, Huang Wen trusted his demons more. Perhaps he trusted them, as much as he trusted his sworn brother Ding Yun. For a moment his mind went to Ding Yun, but quickly within several  breaths, he returned his concentration at restoring his health.

There would be time to think about his sworn brother's fate. Now, he had something to do.
