Huang Wen jogged toward the line of zombies, each step brought him closer to them.
Yu Hee followed closely behind him, she strapped her son tightly on her back.
Her two years old son, hugged her hard. At night, he still had nightmares about the day when he never see his father again. Mother said that his father died bravely as he tried to save his grandmother. But he refused to believe it. Sometimes he fantasied, his father would suddenly appear at the corner of the street. Or someone knocked the door of his room and when he opened it, it was his father.
His mother said, that they would go with his uncle to a safer place. He barely remembered anything about this uncle, but he supposed to be his father's little brother. So he believed him.
But still, the sight of the zombies scared him. He closed his eyes and hid his face on his mother's back.
Song Jian, watched Yu Hee's back. Quietly he prayed to the spirit of Huang Ren, wherever he might be. He promised that he would keep his wife and his son, safe and well. Huang Wen's proposal for him to marry Yu Hee passed through his mind and he gritted his teeth. He would think about that later, now they needed to survive through this.
He couldn't see how they would escape unscathed. But he also believed that sooner or later, Gutian Town would fall to these zombies.
To wait their death at Gutian Town, or to risk their life to a better place, that was their options. And Song Jian chose the second. First, because Yu Hee chose that option and second, because Huang Wen already did it once. It might seem impossible, but Huang Wen proved that it was possible.
The closer they were to the zombies, the faster Huang Wen's pace was.
"Get ready!", Huang Wen growled.
They were just tens steps away from the zombies when the zombies broke out their defensive formation and charged forward.
"Stay behind me !", Huang Wen shouted as the first few zombies entered the range of his sword.
He easily sent them to the next world. Once he committed at killing the zombies, he moved like a blur, no normal eyes could follow his movement. One thing no one realized, when Huang Wen broke through the siege a week ago, he restrained much of his strength. He tried his best, to reduce the casualties among the zombies. Now, he didn't restrain himself. As a result, he could fully show his devastating attack power.
For a few seconds, it seemed that someone threw a bomb to the zombies. Huang Wen instantly created a dent in their massive formation.
But then he couldn't move any further, because the zombies began to surround them. Despite his best effort, he couldn't prevent the zombies from the left and right, to encircle them. Huang Wen needed to move around to keep Song Jian and Yu Hee safe.
Song Jian had a machette in his hand, while Yu Hee used the wooden staff to kill any zombies that passed through Huang Wen's diligent defense.
Before leaving, they decided to allow Yu Hee gained few levels first, before Song Jian could. Perhaps she was thinking of her late husband, because she attacked the zombies ferociously. A Fei who hid his face on his mother's back, couldn't help but take a peek once in a while.
When he saw, his uncle whirled around them like a tornado, his mother and his father's best friend were fighting ferociously, A Fei began to gain some courage.
They fought for about fifteen minutes when Yu Hee called Song Jian, "Brother Song, please take the staff."
Song Jian nodded his head, he exchanged his machette with Yu Hee's wooden staff. He eagerly waited for his first experience point. He realized, only through Huang Wen's effort, that they could fight the zombies. Only a few zombies managed to pass Huang Wen's tight defense and those who passed were easily killed by him and Yu Hee.
It was thanked to Huang Wen's hard work, that they could level up and rest properly.
But those at front were pushed by the zombies behind them, even with Huang Wen strength, he won't be able to hold out for long.
At the same time, Huang Wen kept Fengsu on wait. The burden was growing by minutes, but he wanted to have Song Jian and Yu Hee to gain several levels, before Fengsu acted. Fortunately with his current Bloodlust mastery, he could fight for a bit more than an hour without losing his sanity.
He also had two new techniques in his disposal. One from Baihu and one from Youshe. Unfortunately, the one he learned from Youshe, wouldn't be much of help. Fortunately, the one he learned from Baihu helped him to reduce the pressure. Actually he already knew a bit of this Baihu's skill, it was a skill that came with Baihu's bastard sword. That was why, it only took him a few days, to use this technique skillfully.
With this technique, he could truly put the fear in the heart of his enemies. The sword would give a bit bonus, but even without the sword he could use this technique. That was why, despite the urging instruction of their commanders, the zombies didn't or couldn't show their ferocity in front of Huang Wen. Without their commanders, they would already scattered away from Huang Wen.
Fengsu waited impatiently, he called Huang Wen, 'Hey kid, you're asking for my help. Now, you're ignoring me. Do you need my help? Or do you not?'
'Just wait a bit. I'd like to wait until my brother level up a bit.', Huang Wen replied.
'I've been waiting for hours ...', Fengsu growled.
Of course he wasn't, but neither Fengsu nor Huang Wen wanted to debate about it.
"Brother Song, what's your current level?", Huang Wen asked.
"I just need few more points and I'll reach level 4.", said Song Jian.
"Tell me when you reach level 4.", said Huang Wen.
Song Jian nodded his head and worked even harder. He felt Huang Wen had a plan and waited for him to level up.
A few minutes later, Song Jian reached level 4 and yelled, "Huang Wen! I just reached level 4!"
Huang Wen nodded, "Okay, everyone prepare to move forward!"
'Fengsu, do it now!', said Huang Wen.
Fengsu didn't give any reply, but quickly did his job. It was easy because his target was concentrating at every Huang Wen's movement. He was controlling the zombies, which currently surrounded Huang Wen. Fengsu easily sneaked behind him. Fengsu slashed the air in front of him and a blade of wind flew out of his hand. He didn't stop with one wind blade, his hand moved several times and several wind blades followed closely behind the first.

When the first wind blade slashed his body, the commander was shocked from the pain.
He didn't have any chance to react, because before he could overcome the shock, several more wind blades slashed at his body.
He was dropped on his knee with his body terribly mangled. His blood drenched the earth and his life was slipping away.
Right before he lose his consciousness, he turned his head and saw Fengsu was approaching him. The last thing he saw was Fengsu's palm. Fengsu held the head of the dying commander with both of his hand. He closed his eyes and chanted a spell. A few seconds later, the dying commander's soul essence poured into Fengsu's body through his hands.
From his place, through his spiritual sense, Huang Wen watched Feng Su's action, he could faintly sense the technique that was used by Fengsu to absorb the commander's soul. It was another variation of the technique he was using when he absorb Baihu's and Youshe's soul.
'I guess, humans and demons have different nature, thus, the technique to absorb their soul was a bit different too.', Huang Wen thought to himself.
For a moment, Huang Wen was wondering, should he ask Fengsu to teach him that technique. Although he cringed on the idea of absorbing his fellow human's soul. Such feeling wasn't it baseless and emotional rather than logical? It would be a waste to kill someone and without absorbing their soul.
But the next moment, Huang Wen decided. He won't ask Fengsu to teach him that technique. Sure it was such a waste and perhaps it seemed like a hypocrite, to kill but not to absorb. However, he decided that such technique would tempt him to kill a man in order to absorb their soul, rather than out of necessities.
'Once I learn that technique, I will always doubt myself. Am I kill this person, because I want to absorb his soul? Or it is dictate by the situation? Even worse, I might make reasonable excuse to kill a man, while desiring to absorb his soul.', Huang Wen sighed at the thought.
'Father ... , I haven't found what truth is ... but I'll try my best to live, such a life. I won't let anyone or anything, rule over my self.', Huang Wen resolutely steel his heart.
At Fengsu's location, it took less than half a minute and all that was left was a shriveled, drained, mummified body.
Fengsu opened his eyes and smacked his lips, "Not bad ... now the zombies ..."
He closed his eyes once more and spread his spiritual power across the battlefield. Every zombies who had not linked to anyone, quickly linked to Fengsu.
'Now move! I'll open the way for you.', Fengsu contacted Huang Wen.
And like Moses divided the red sea, Fengsu opened a path for Huang Wen, Yu Hee and Song Jian.
"Hurry! Follow me now!", Huang Wen grabbed Yu Hee and Song Jian.
They ran through the zombies under Fengsu's command. The zombies who were their enemies few seconds ago, now turned into their allies. Opening a path for them. Meanwhile the other Wang Yuehei's servants didn't stand idly. Linked through Wang Yuehei's network, they buzzed over the incident.
"Damn! What happened? Is someone betraying us?"
"No! Someone killed one of us and take over the zombie! Who's died now?"
"Be it a traitor or an enemy, it got to be on Yong Tai's position now, since it was the zombies around that guy that turn side!"
"I'll go check him!"
"Jiang Nan! Don't go alone. We can't take any risk!"
"Fan Mo! Guan Lao! Go with him!"
"You guys moved your zombies to block their path!"
Three commanders whose position were nearest to Fengsu, ran toward his position, while the other moved their zombies to block Huang Wen's path. Both Fengsu and Huang Wen used their spiritual sense to locate the position of each enemy's commander.
'They're coming for me.', Fengsu told Huang Wen.
'Hold your position! Instruct your zombies to protect my two companions. I'll take care those three for you.', Huang Wen replied.
Fengsu said, 'Just take care two of them, leave the other one for me.'
'Can you fight and control your zombies at the same time?', Huang Wen asked.
'If it's only one opponent, then that's fine.', Fengsu replied.
'If one of my companion hurt... our deal is off.', Huang Wen threatened him.
'Hmph... who do you think I am? Just leave them to me.', Fengsu replied arrogantly.
Huang Wen turned to Yu Hee and Song Jian, "You two, stay here. I'll deal with the zombie's commander. Don't worry, my friend is controlling part of the zombies, he will protect you here. Just stay alerted. Don't go anywhere okay?"
Song Jian nodded, "Leave this place to me."
Huang Wen nodded his head and wasted no time. He charged through and quickly disappeared among the zombies. Once he was surrounded by zombies, he used his new learned technique, it was taught by Youshe. Youshe was a physically weak demon and relied much on trickery. If Baihu taught Huang Wen to mentally and spiritually pressured his opponent, then Youshe taught Huang Wen, a technique that will hid him from his enemies.
It wasn't that he was invisible, but rather people's attention somehow diverted every time they looked toward his direction.
It didn't matter, whether they used their physical eyes or their spiritual sense. The techniques worked on their unconscious part of mind. It made them ignore Huang Wen's existence. Even Fengsu who had been communicating with Huang Wen, suddenly lost interest in his existence.
If Fengsu didn't notice his existence, how would the zombies noticed his existence? Though he moved through them and bumped into them, they only shrugged him off, as if they bumped on stones or trees.
If zombies who was pushed around by Huang Wen, didn't noticed him. How could three men, whose attention were focusing on finding Fengsu, would notice Huang Wen?
Was it in The Bible that said, the time will come like a thief? Huang Wen brought death with him, by each passing seconds he was approaching quickly. Death was coming for them, but none of them knew it.
