Chapter 35. Feng Jin's Betrayal.

Chapter 35. Feng Jin's Betrayal.

As soon as the pearl entered his stomach, Zhang Hu was flooded by great power and knowledge. He staggered a few steps back but Yue Guang who was prepared, quickly supported him. Waves of knowledge entered his mind, waves of soul essence entered his soul. Zhang Hu leaned on Yue Guang for more than 10 minutes before he slowly regained the control of his body.

Feng Jin who watched it all impatiently, quickly clasped his hand and bowed to Zhang Hu, "Congratulation Master Zhang ... congratulation... indeed you're a worthy leader for people in Fuzhou. Since the Grand Elder had made his decision, we shouldn't tarry any longer. Me and my men will immediately organise everything and leave Fuzhou as soon as possible."

Zhang Hu still tried to regain his balance, simply nodded.

Feng Jin didn't wait for Zhang Hu, he bowed to the Grand Elder and Yue Guang and said his good bye, soon he and his men already left Xichan Temple. Various thoughts passed their mind. Some were considering to change side. Some decided that Zhang Hu was a real threat for their authority now. They had met Zhang Hu before they decided to support Feng Jin, from their conversation they knew that Zhang Hu would not have any leniency for anyone. If they joined Zhang Hu, then they would lose all of the privileges they had now as the leader of their group, but if they joined with Feng Jin, Feng Jin already promised that they will retained all of that privileges and held certain authority within the group, only second to Feng Jin himself.

The majority of the men who worked for Feng Jin already tasted the privileges that came with power. They didn't want to lose it either. Some even afraid that if they joined with Zhang Hu, the crime they did against other survivor, when they worked under Feng Jin, might be found out, thus they feared Zhang Hu.

For many reasons, people chose to side with Feng Jin despite his apparent flaw compared to Zhang Hu's apparent benevolence.

It took more than half an hour before Zhang Hu slowly finished at arranged his mind and body. He hadn't had a chance to browse through the sudden recent influx of knowledge within his sea of knowledge but at least he could operate normally.

He sighed and turned to the leaders who decided to join him, "Well brothers, I will wait for my son in law here but it had nothing to do with you all. Why don't you join with your people on the road to Nanping? You still have time to catch up with them, my men here and some of the fairies will accompany you, so you will be safe on the way there."

They looked at each other, since Zhang Hu waited in Fuzhou for his son in law along with his daughter, it felt weird if they insisted on accompanying him. One by one they excused themselves and left Xichan Temple to catch up with the other.

It took a few seconds for Zhang Hu to remember Feng Jin and his people, "Eh... I forgot about Feng Jin and his people. Brother Yue Guang, how about it, why don't we take a look at them?"

He asked Yue Guang since at that time he just sent all his men to catch up with others who already left Fuzhou. Zhang Xuan, Chen Yao and Xia Yue stood.

"Father, let us come with you too.", said Zhang Xuan who worried about his father.

Zhang Hu turned to Yue Guang questioningly and Yue Guang nodded his head. When he saw Yue Guang approved it, he felt much assured.

"Okay, you can come with us.", said Zhang Hu.

"Grand Elder, excuse us. We would like to see the preparation of those who are still in Fuzhou.", said Zhang Hu politely.

But something was off, the Grand Elder seemed slightly annoyed and said, "Why don't you wait for a moment."

Zhang Hu didn't need to wait too long to find the answer. Few moments later his men were running back to the front of the pagoda. Along with them, there was one of a person who previously supported Feng Jin. When Zhang Hu saw their expression he felt his chest tightened but he could control himself well.

He calmy asked, "What happened?"

One of his men answered, "Feng Jin betray us, he betrays us and betray his people."

Zhang Hu nodded his head, "Hmmm... what he did this time?"

"Feng Jin and those who supported him, led all their armed men to take all of their supplies, loaded it to all ships that are still operable here in Fuzhou and left their people.", one of them answered.

Zhang Hu gritted his teeth. It took him lots of effort to stay calm. He couldn't say anything for quite some time.

Finally he calmly said, "Do you know how many people follow Feng Jin? Their average strength and such."

Everyone turned to the one who was left with Feng Jin, that man seemed a bit surprised since Zhang Hu didn't ask the reason he stayed behind, interrogated him or showed any suspicion.

A bit trembled he answered, "In total he had at least 3000 men who had much experience using the firearm. They had boxes of bullets. I don't know the exact number. Must be tens of thousands. They also had thousands of hand guns and riffles. Tens of grenades and at least five machine guns."

He nodded his head and then calmly said, "We needed to get more truck and buses. Yong Gang, He San, took your brothers to explore the city. Get any vehicles you could find and brought them to our base. Also send this news to Fan Zheng at the front. Feng Jin betrays us, he led 3000 men. Probably try to reach Nanping before we do. Tell him to wait for me at agreed temporary base."

Zhang Hu's men nodded their head and left as soon as they got instruction. No mobile could work since there was no service, but they used radio communication to communicate from one group to the next group. In that way, the messages relayed to Fan Zheng who was the first group with his 100 men.

Then Zhang Hu turned to the leaders who decided to join him, he slightly bowed to them, "Brothers, we face an enormous task in front of us. These people need us. We can't abandon them. I want to ask for your assistance at taking control over this situation as fast as possible, manage everything and send them to catch up with the rest of our people."

"Of course Master Zhang, since we decided to integrate our people with yours, we consider ourselves as your men. Give us mission and we will do our best to complete it.", one of them said, followed by the other.

One by one assured Zhang Hu of his authority over them. After Zhang Hu heard it all, he bowed deeply to them.

"I'm grateful for your trust. I swear I won't disappoint any of you.", he said sincerely.

The ex leaders quickly bowed to Zhang Hu in return, after that they began to discuss how they should address this issue. This time they faced many problems. First the vehicles that were needed to transport those who were left behind. Their next question was supplies. Their current supplies could provide them enough food for about a week. Now their number swelled twice than the original number, but the supply wasn't. The last but not least, was how to win the trust of Feng Jin's people, they were just left by their leader. And it will be harder because most of their trusted men weren't here in Fuzhou, they were leading their people to leave Fuzhou.

"Okay, first we need to register everyone and as we do that, we could assign tasks for them to help us in solving these problems.", said one of them, his name was Yue Rang.

"Hmm... we need Master Zhang to speak to all of them first. Right now they must be confused and panic.", another man said, his name was Cao Bei.

Zhang Hu said, "Yes, you're right, but before that we need some sort of plan, so they see that we already have a concrete plan to solve this problem. It will help them to feel safe."

Cao Bei nodded his head, "Yes, Master Zhang is right."

"We need people to help us to register some basic information about each family. There must be about 20,000 of them out there. It won't be easy but give me 20 men to work with and I'll take care of it.", said another.

"We could prioritize those who are ready to leave Fuzhou first.", one by one they made the suggestion and took responsibility of each task that needed to be done.

Each one of them led a hundred, some even thousand survivors. Each one of them had what it took to be a leader. Zhang Hu gave them enough room to show their capability as leaders and at the same time kept everyone from over acting. Under Zhang, Hu's leadership everyone worked as one unit. When they had quick rough plan to work on Zhang Hu went to meet the survivors that were left by Feng Jin.

He made a short speech, "Feng Jin betrayed you all and left Fuzhou with all his armed men, weapons and supplies."

Zhang Hu let them to talk with each other, for a few minutes no one paid attention to Zhang Hu, they turned to each other and spoke among themselves, but after a while as they felt lost, they began to turn their attention to Zhang Hu. One by one until there was nothing but silence.

"I, Zhang Hu, won't leave you..."

"... but we need to work together. Our destination is Nanping. Within the next two or three days, demons will invade Fuzhou. We need to be at Nanping by that time. Which mean we will need many vehicles to move everyone to Nanping as soon as possible and right now we have almost none."

"We don't have enough food to distribute for now. We do have enough food supplies to support us for about 2-3 days but the truck is on the way to Fuzhou. First we needed to gather enough food for everyone here. If possible, we also need to gather food, so we had supplies for more than a week."

"Okay starting from the most east side, start to stand in lines. Don't get separated from your family. The rest, just stay in the group. Parents watch for your children. As we register you, we'll assign certain task to you. People, let's work together."

They began to register families and those who had been registered were given tasks that fit their condition. At first there was some confusion but soon everyone began to work with a purpose. Those who waited, waited patiently.

Before this Feng Jin just led them around without purpose, they knew nothing of his plan. Now they knew their situation but it didn't depress them, because they were working to solve it. It made a big difference.

All of them silently cursed Feng Jin and others who decided to support his scheme, at the same time they felt relieved that Feng Jin decided to abandon them, because now they were led by Zhang Hu. Feng Jin and those who supported him used their position to their own benefit.

It took the entire day, just to count and register all families. It might seem unnecessary but there were many reason why Zhang Hu and the other ex leaders agreed to do that. It helped them to organize things as it goes. People had something they were expecting as things getting organized. They also made the list of which families went first, who went after that and so on.

When Zhang Hu's men brought the first few buses, names were called and the first group was sent to Nanping. They even also gathered enough food to be brought along with them.

Slow but sure. People were sent to Nanping. They needed food but Zhang Hu decided to make his priority to send them toward Nanping. At the same time, he relay the message to Fan Zheng and all group leaders who went first to gather food whenever they had the chance to do so. By the time they finished at registering every family, the transportation was ready for the last group to leave.

Only when they saw the remaining people went to Nanping, Zhang Hu and his men felt relieved.

Zhang Hu took a deep breath and patted the man next to him, "Okay... great job... great job... let's get some rest now... let's get some rest..."
