Chapter 83. The conversation within Huang Wen's inner self.

Chapter 83. The conversation within Huang Wen's inner self.

When Mi Fang left their camp, Huang Wen watched him leaving. He wondered, should he secretly follow after them or at least he could send Baihu to follow them? It wasn't that he didn't believe in Mi Fang's loyalty, but rather he worried of his safety.

Now that Baihu was strong enough to leave his soul realm. Huang Wen could send him on a mission.

He stood there, watching Mi Fang and 20 of his men disappeared in the darkness of the night. After he thoroughly thought about it, Huang Wen decided to leave it entirely to Mi Fang. It was true that he deemed Mi Fang as one of those who irreplaceable among his men, but if he was worrying every time he sent his trusted men on a mission, there would be no end to it.

Besides, if Mi Fang did meet some trouble and he appeared to help him, wouldn't Mi Fang thought that he didn't trust him?

What would he do, if one day he sent three or four of his trusted men on different missions?

Having trusted men, but supervising them whenever they were on a mission, was a waste of their talent.

The next day, Huang Wen and the others waited for Mi Fang but the day passed and there was no news from Mi Fang. While the battle between the reinforcement from Ningde against the zombies from Fuzhou didn't show any changes. The army from Ningde still moved forward and enlarge their territory steadily and methodically.

More trenches were build along their defense lines, with a low wall behind it. They made the wall from the dirt and stones that was dug out when they dug the trenches.

The soldiers defend the lines from behind the walls, rather than the trenches. Unlike WW I, where they built trenches to defend from enemies that use firearms. Now the trenches was used as the last line of defense. It was used to stop the zombie's movement, while they shot them from behind the walls.

It was such a sight to see tens of thousand men, working together to made something that from afar looked like the walls of sand castle on the beach. They moved hundred of meters in a day. With such progress, they would reach the town's defense lines in another three days.

When the night came, Huang Wen talked with Chen Fang and Xia Bao.

"Uncle Chen, Uncle Xia, should I checked on Mi Fang. The distance between our camp and their main camp, isn't that far. It should only take several hours to travel from there to here.", Huang Wen asked them, obviously he worried about Mi Fang.

Chen Fang turned to Xia Bao and Xia Bao gave it a thought before answered, "Let's wait for another day. We didn't know the situation he had to deal with. Perhaps he need to take a longer route to avoid the enemies."

Chen Fang sighed, "I know how you feel. It is hard to send a man on a dangerous mission but it's unavoidable."

Xia Bao said, "You will experience these kind of things many times in the future. Even God let His prophets to deal with the dangers they met on their missions. No one is expecting you to protect them all the time. Those who come to help you today, they come to help. Not to seek for your protection."

Huang Wen sighed, "Hmm.... I don't want to lose a good man. Mi Fang is a capable man."

Xia Bao replied, "Then you should trust him. Let him do his part and we do our part."

Huang Wen nodded his head and then said, "I want to clear my head a bit. I'll go out and hunt some zombies, just to let my frustration off."

Chen Fang and Xia Bao nodded, "Be careful. Don't take too much risk."

Huang Wen smiled, "I know. Thanks."

Secretly, Huang Wen left the camp and moved toward the zombies. Few hundred meters away from the hordes of zombies, he stopped. Slowly another body emerged from his body.

Baihu materialized outside Huang Wen's soul realm.

Fengsu taught Huang Wen how to infuse some of his character on Baihu's soul. It wasn't much that it would change Baihu's personality, but just the part of his appearance. Baihu agreed to let Huang Wen did it, after Fengsu explained.

As a result, when Baihu materialized outside Huang Wen's soul realm, his appearance was much similar to Huang Wen's. From anyone's point of view, he would pass as Huang Wen's twin brother.

When he fully materialized, Baihu bowed politely to Huang Wen.

Huang Wen then gave his sword to Baihu, "Well, take it. It's yours anyway. From now on, I can't use your sword."

Baihu took the sword and bowed, "Thank you master."

"Now, go, grow stronger. Kill sparingly and spread around your target around. Don't attract too much attention. I'll wait you here.", said Huang Wen.

Baihu bowed once again before leaped lightly into the darkness. While Huang Wen found a place to sit and meditate. Fengsu and Youshe quietly spread their spiritual sense and watched over their master.

It wasn't an easy process, to purify his soul realm, Huang Wen needed to fully concentrated in calming his mind and heart. Only then he could separated between soul essence within his soul realm. The part that now was fully his and which part that rather became a dirt within his soul realm.

After three days of closed door training, Huang Wen had cleared about 90% of his soul realm. The size of his soul realm had reduced nearly 80% of its previous size in its peak. Baihu who absorb most of the waste, had grown nearly as strong as his previous old self. From this fact, it could be imagined how much soul essence that was absorbed by Huang Wen this far. However he also found that he didn't fully 'digested' a big portion of those essence.

It only added the mass but he couldn't use it effectively, rather it added the confusion within his soul realm. In that sense, clearing his soul realm was beneficial to him. It was true that the process weakened him, but the loss was small compared to the benefit.

Based on their previous agreement, although Youshe was the weakest among those three, but after Huang Wen killed and absorbed Fengsu, Youshe became the second.

Now that Baihu had the strength to leave Huang Wen's soul realm and it was faster for him to grow stronger on its own. Huang Wen began to feed Youshe with the soul essence that from his pointof view, wasn't fit in with his soul realm and rather polluted it instead.

Youshe greedily absorbed whatever Huang Wen threw at his direction. As Huang Wen noticed Youshe's appetite, his mind wandered on some new information he learned from those three demons.

Demons were used to strengthen themselves by absorbing others. Besides they were naturally chaotic and driven by their base desires. Adding few more, didn't matter much. When Huang Wen thought about it, he was curious, did the one who created the changes had specific purpose when he gave human the ability to absorb others?

Was it because it was simply the faster way to cultivate?

Or was it because this person wanted human's nature to grow more like the demons? Driven by their base desires, individualistic and cruel. From his conversations with Baihu, Fengsu and Youshe, Huang Wen learned a bit about the fairies.

Both demons and fairies seemed like a very prideful race.

The fairies and the demons, believed that they were better than human. That was part of the reason why it was hard for them to accept that they must be reincarnated into human before they could achieve the higher realm.

Their nature also made them a bit extreme and hard to change, in their relation with other existence. Say those three who were absorbed by him, their attitude was quickly changed almost as soon as they knew that Huang Wen chose to take the path of the demon called the venerable from the east. Obviously this person happened to left a very deep impression in their heart.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Now, that Huang Wen won their loyalty, in their own rough, vicious, cruel way, those three would serve him loyally.

Thinking back of these information, Huang Wen wondered how Zhang Hu could win the grand elder's heart after criticizing the grand elder so harsh. He heard the story of their meeting from Zhang Xuan. It was surprising that the grand elder who had such high position even among his own race, wasn't offended by Zhang Hu's criticism.

Thinking about Zhang Hu, Huang Wen's mind was reminded of Zhang Xuan. He hadn't spent much time with her since they met again. At that time, he still felt the pain of his father lost. Whenever he saw her, Chen Yao, Xia Yue, or Chen Fang and Xia Bao, it would remind him of his decision to follow Zhang Hu's priority rather than his own family. Focusing his mind on purifying his soul realm during the close door training, helped him to heal some of this wound.

He still regretted his decision, but the pain now was bearable. With the pain resided, the desires for Zhang Xuan arose and stirred his heart.

He thought about Zhang Xuan and remembered the good time he had with her. Huang Wen couldn't deny the fact that he enjoyed having sex with her. Now that he thought about it, he wondered how much he loved her and how much he lusted of her.

Huang Wen opened his eyes, he couldn't concentrate anymore. Now, that he had his mind thinking of the time he spent with her, his soul was stirred too much by his physical desires.

With his current knowledge of his soul realm and a bit of the clarity in his mind after he purified his soul realm. Huang Wen could see his physical part and his non-physical part. His mind and his body. They were separate entity, but at the same time both were affecting each other and it was the integration of both that made him, who he was.

He could see why, it was impossible for demons and fairies who were lacking of physical aspect in their being to achieve the higher realm. At the same time, he also saw the obstacle that was created by having both aspect in one existence. That was the reason why demons and fairies had higher level of cultivation. The lack of physical existence became their strength and weaknesses at the same time.

With the clarity he had right now, he could see that not all of his desires came from Youshe or some other influence within his soul realm. Part of those desire came from his bodily function. Based on his observation, he must admit that his love for Zhang Xuan came from the way she fulfilled the desires of his body.

Although he didn't comfortable with the fact, he readily admitted that his love wasn't as pure or noble as the love that was depicted in romantic novels or movies.

With that realization, Huang Wen began to see his relation with Zhang Xuan in much more analytical and distant emotion.

'Will I let her put the rein in my nose and lead me wherever she want me to go?', Huang Wen asked himself.

'You can't do that! Let me teach you a skill and you could have any girl you want it.', Youshe who still wanted some more soul essence exclaimed.

Huang Wen laughed, he knew Youshe was annoyed since the feeding stopped, 'What should I do then? Although I hate the fact that she used me. I don't want to hurt her by leaving her either.'

Fengsu answered, 'Youshe is right. But the problem isn't about the relation. The problem is, you let your relation with her influencing your decision.'

Huang Wen nodded his head, 'I agree with you, then what is your suggestion?'

Fengsu replied, 'Now that you aware about it, it could be said that part of the problem already resolved.'

Huang Wen said, 'Now, that I'm aware about it, I won't let my feeling of her influence my decision. Why do you say it's only resolve part of the problem?'

Fengsu answered, 'Although you already aware of the problem, you still have some attachment to her. Whether you want it or not, of course it will influence your decision. Until you could detached yourself completely from her, your relation with her will always affect your decision.'

Huang Wen frowned, 'So I should live like a hermit or a monk? Hmm..... even if I hate to say it, I have to admit that my body is part of me and it have its own desire. Living like a monk would deny that part of me.'

Fengsu replied, 'There is a way to weakened that attachment without denying your physical need.'

Huang Wen asked, 'And what is that?'

Fengsu said, 'Youshe know the answer.'

Huang Wen mentally raised his eyebrows, 'Youshe...?'

Youshe laughed and spoke, 'Yes. Me. Surprised?'

Huang Wen laughed, 'Not really, isn't you the number two among you three?'

Youshe laughed happily, demons loved flattery, even the cold blooded Baihu, 'I'm glad you remember it master. Well, the way to weaken your attachment to that woman is by having more woman. Once your body knew it could have as much as the fun or even more from other women, her value will goes down and the attachment will be weakened.'

Huang Wen shook his head, 'Sound it's a bit underhanded. I wonder how my mind will feel about it.'

Fengsu answered, 'With the way you see right and wrong, indeed it will trouble your soul, but in your current situation you have to choose. Since your soul and your body are at conflict and yet to achieve a perfect harmony. You have to choose between them. Or find a way to compromise.'

'Even if you keep your relation with her as of now, your soul also admit that you don't love her the way your soul define love. You also accept that your attachment with her, prevent you from freely exercise your will. That's why, I say it's better to follow Youshe's way, but do it without hurting Zhang Xuan, that way your soul won't be troubled too much.', Fengsu gave his opinion.

Huang Wen closed his eyes once again and said, 'Let me think about it.'

'Master, forgive me but I want to add something.', said Fengsu.

'Hmm.', Huang Wen mentally nodded.

'You should inspect your soul as well. Does the values you hold so much, came from your self? Or is it values that was imbedded there by the society? Since you want to walk on the path build upon and by yourself, shouldn't you aware of external influence that form the values that is followed by your soul?', said Fengsu.

Huang Wen frowned a bit and after some time he said, 'Hmm... I'll decide about it myself. By the way, Youshe could you teach me this skill you talked about earlier.'

Youshe laughed happily because this skill was one of his favorite and if Huang Wen use this skill, it would beneficial to Youshe as well, since he could feed on the emotion that arise from the use of this skill. That night, Huang Wen decided to spend his time to learn the new skill, rather than purifying his soul realm. He felt that he couldn't achieve the concentration that was needed to purify his soul realm.

When Baihu returned from his feast, Huang Wen already learned the skill. Once again Baihu entered Huang Wen's soul realm and they returned to the camp.
