“Welcome to the Crusher Force tryouts.” Turles looked at the scores of soldiers inside the large training room.
Naba’s training room was too small to accommodate the large turnout, so they had to book another room. Right now, she was outside the room with other operators to record the training session. He still needed to have a word with her about keeping up appearances in front of the soldiers. Hopefully, she would see reason.
Turles didn’t fly or stand on anything tall to make the soldiers look up to him. He stayed standing at his regular child-like height as he confronted the men and women. Bonyu and Sai were next to him. Surprisingly, he could see looks of positive anticipation on the faces of the soldiers. They weren’t afraid but actually excited to try out for the Crusher Force. A devious grin slowly formed on Turles’s face. They had no idea what they were in store for.
“I’m sure some of you still remember me as the Weakest Saiyan. I haven’t changed much from those days, except I grew a little stronger.” Turles explained. “I’m going to find out if you all have what it takes to grow a little stronger too.” Someone raised their hand.
“Yes?” Turles was amused.
“What do we have to do?” She asked.
“I’m glad you asked. I like to think of myself as a fair person, so I’ll give you all a choice here. You can all come at me at once for your tryouts, or I can test you all individually. Those in favor of the first option, raise your hands.” Turles looked at the crowd of raised hands and felt himself get a little giddy. “Very well. You all can begin now.” more people raised their hands to the first option compared to the second.
The soldiers looked at each other with confusion. Were they supposed just to rush him and attack together? Even after a few seconds had passed, nobody had the courage to make the first move. It wasn’t as if Turles was so terrifying and menacing that they were frightened just being in his presence. They were just genuinely confused if they should just start. It was unorthodox.
“If you’re not going to come to me, I’ll go to you then.” Turles appeared in front of a soldier.
With a small hop, Turles kneed a soldier in the gut. The pink-skinned fish-like alien couldn’t even scream as he dropped to the ground unconscious. Turles didn’t hesitate to move on to the next soldier. It only took for a dozen soldiers to fall before the rest of the other soldiers began to react. Turles was just that quick!
Turles looked for any soldiers with potential as they all came at him at once. He even recognized a few faces. Appule, Cui, Banan, and Sui. All fodder essentially, but still cool to see them. There were even some new faces he’s never seen before.
“Elegant Strike!” A yellow-skinned member of Ginyu’s race flew toward him with ki coating his fist.
He was practically naked, a brave decision in Turles’s opinion. Shirtless, tight underwear, stockings, and boots. It certainly made a visual impact, at the very least. Turles gently deflected the elegant alien’s strike and grabbed his wrist. Using his own momentum against him, Turles slammed him into the floor and then tossed him at the other recruits. He knocked out a large group of soldiers who were charging their blasters together in an attempt to take Turles out with a combined ki blast.
“I got you, Captain Turles!” A purple-skinned female alien attached herself to his back. She was around his size.
Turles was a little surprised. She could lower or mask her own ki. Unfortunately for her, he wasn’t Nappa, and hopefully, she wasn’t Chiaotzu. Turles wrapped his tail around her waist and squeezed as he continued to fight off several combatants. She loudly cried out, Uncle, as the pain seized her body. Laughter escaped Turles’s lips as he tossed the girl away and remembered her appearance.
“Captain Turles, look this way, please…” a voice filled with lust and temptation beckoned to Turles.
He turned to see a rather busty female that was a part of Zarbon’s race. Turles inwardly scoffed as he acted as if he was charmed by her beauty. All the soldiers watched as he slowly neared the female alien. She smiled as she was assured of her placement in the Crusher Force. What would be the point of being so gorgeous if she couldn't bewitch a young child? The woman gathered energy in her hand as she used her other hand to gently caress Turles’s face.

“That’s an unusual technique.” Turles popped her in her lip after clearing his mind.
She didn’t get the chance to cry out in pain as she was knocked out in one blow. Turles made sure to remember her as well. A mind-altering technique that utilized ki instead of solely relying on her body. If Roshi could hypnotize people and make them go to sleep, it would make sense there would also be a technique to bewitch people. She could be useful in subjugating planets more peacefully than by force.
Turles held back significantly during the tryouts. If he used anywhere near his full strength, they would die in one blow instead of being knocked out in one blow. He brutally and mercilessly hurt the potential recruits till there wasn’t anyone standing left. It was certainly possible they would be permanently crippled or die if they didn’t receive treatment fast enough. But, Turles had already prepared for something like this, as the point of his training wasn’t about defeating him or having enough power. Power could be gained through training. He was looking for willpower and the dedication to continue despite hardship.
“If you are still conscious, I expect all of you to return tomorrow if you want to raise your chances of entering the Crusher Force. Tell those who are sleeping the news too. Be fair.” Turles told them as he tossed them all out of the training room with telekinesis.
A big pile of bodies towered the entrance of the training room. Medics and scientists worked hard to bring them all to the medical room. Turles had already told them to be prepared for a large number of incoming bodies. It was one thing to be feared. It was another to be wasteful and inefficient by reducing one’s own resources for no reason.
“I wouldn’t have thought of this method myself, but I can see how it would be effective,” Bonyu stated.
“Willpower is one of the most important traits a fighter could have in the universe,” Turles replied.
“Even more so than unique techniques or power?” Bonyu questioned.
“Those things are important as well, but I’d still say willpower is more valuable for a fighter.”
“How so?” Bonyu was interested.
“Unique techniques may impress, but without the willpower to continually develop those techniques, they become stagnant, allowing others to find counters. People who rely solely on one technique usually lack versatility and fallback options. It makes them predictable as well. Consider Guldo and Captain Ginyu, for example. As for power, individuals without the willpower to strive for growth will eventually be surpassed when their power becomes stagnant or is taken away from them.” Turles explained.
“What about you?” Bonyu wasn’t afraid to ask.
“I neither rely on a single technique or power alone. I always aim to be stronger than the person I was yesterday.” Turles chuckled.
“I see.” Bonyu began walking toward the exit.
“Bonyu, where are you going? The Crusher Force has team training to do.”
“Gye!?” Sai exclaimed.
“...” Bonyu stopped in her tracks. “Very well.” She seemed hesitant in Turles’s eyes.
Turles grinned as he beckoned the two to come at him. Unlike the potential recruits, Bonyu and Sai rushed forward instantly. Bonyu struck down with a hand chop from above while Sai swung his large sword toward Turles’s waist. Since Sai had a higher power level than Bonyu, his attack reached Turles first. As the blade neared his mid-section, Turles hopped on the surface of the blade and used that as a jump pad to disrupt Bonyu’s attack before it could fully extend. He wrapped around Bonyu’s arm, locking her arm in an armbar. Normally, with his weight and size, it would be impossible to do anything other than hang on to Bonyu’s arm. But there was ki in this universe.
Turles twisted Bonyu’s arm with an audible crack as a bright red glow emanated from her other palm and blasted into him. Turles was sent flying across the room from the impact. It was good that she got a hit in while she could, even if it didn’t do much. Getting some kind of damage in was better than taking damage and doing nothing at all.
“Whoa!” Turles flipped out of the way of Sai’s leaping downward slash that almost cleaved him in half.
Bonyu’s arm hung limp in the air as she flew toward him with a kick. Turles blocked the kick but was sent crashing into the training room’s wall. Giving Sai the perfect opportunity to slice him into a million pieces. Sai appeared in front of him with his great sword already in motion to chop him. Turles was rather proud to see their impromptu teamwork, but it wouldn’t be training if he didn’t push them to their limits.
As soon as Sai’s sword reached his mid-section, Turles used his ki and small body to his advantage. Instead of attempting to block, Turles used the force from Sai’s sword and sent himself flying toward Bonyu, who was charging up a bright-red energy orb. Bonyu cursed as Turles’s head found home into her stomach like a crashing meteorite. The female Brench-seijin spat up saliva and blood as she slid across the training room floor. She balled her fist as she looked at Turles’s rising figure, her body shaking, attempting to rise once more. But she couldn’t keep her grasp on reality, and Bonyu fainted.
“Alright, buddy, give into your desires and show me what you’re made of! You’re a destroyer by birth and nature. Prove it!” Turles grinned. ‘Don’t forget to keep that power level at 70,000.’ He reminded Sai telepathically. The operators were still outside.
